Is Neil Postman correct about the best photography being in television ads? Excerpt from "Amusing Ourselves to Death".

He's right. Photography was made obsolete by film as an artform. It's old and busted these days

Because advertisements are such a short-form format, they can only get their points across with very little time and information - which means that you *need* to be experienced and focused at what you're creating with your ad, or it won't even grab people's attention.

There's art, where you merely hope that people think a certain way - then there's advertising, where you already KNOW how people think and your job is to secure a return investment.

An old book. Commercials nowadays are the real version of a Stonetoss punchline. See Jaguar, Bud Light, etc. Commercials no longer have the primary task of selling a product but to sell degenerate ideology while pretending to sell the product being used as an excuse to play it.

Product photography and advertising have often produced high-quality images, that's for sure. But what do the images say or mean? That's a more difficult question.

ads have always sold a lifestyle gramps, stop listening to so many podcasts and read a book.

    Yep, the whole argument is
    > Haha isn't it funny how the best art is at the service of corporate America. That's kinda Based, amirite fellow Americans?
While Americana isn't the same any more.

They used to reinforce a lifestyle, now they actively astroturf one.
To be fair jews always did but it wasn't as prevalent as today and it targeted sectors ( (((Bernays))) convincing feminists to pick up smoking)

To be fair the book is 41 years old so it's only natural that cherrypicked passages aged like Angourie Rice
