The eternal debate
>>132016120Dinosaur Jr.The Minneapolis cunts are too contrived
>>132016120For me, Husker Du. More scattered catalog, but it just musically speaks to me more than the drunk punk poetry of the Replacements. They're great band, but I think Hüsker Du is way overlooked and under appreciated. Bob Mould doesn't seem interested in keeping the band's legacy alive and present which is a shame. A reissue/remaster campaign of their catalog I think could really cement their legacy as a crucial pre-cursor band to the alt rock explosion were still seeing the fallout of today.
>>132016120When you combine both you get LOAF.
>>132016120I'm not big into hardcore punk so while I can ignore the first Replacements album and enjoy the rest, it's harder with the Husker Du since they clung harder to their hardcore roots.
>>132016120Bob mould is bad singer.
Husker Du were the better punk bandThe Replacements were the better Alt Band
The Replacements didn't have songs, only a sound that got replicated a lot.Husker found a cool space for experimentation between punk that sounded almost like metal and melodicity. So they got this hybrid sound that is energetic, harsh, uptempo but also melodic that was really innovative and influenced a lot of bands to seek their own blends. In their late period they were sounding like country music mixed with metal guitar grinding.
