I never went to high school or college in the US but I want to know - what music did chads and jocks listen to?>inb4 moans of your oneitis
>>132015570Chainsmokers
>>132015570ITT: Anons show how old they are
terrible buttrock like drowning pool and five finger death punch. Then dubstep and edm for a while. Then like every other subculture, they got zapped with a groid ray during the obama years and only listen to rap now
>>132015570DrakeWhatever the current pop country plant is
>>132015616>terrible buttrock like drowning pool and five finger death punchWtf I had no idea chads were based
>>132015570We had to listen to Lady Gaga, Drake, Rhianna, Beyonce, Kanye and Lana Del Rey. So consider yourself lucky.
>>132015570Taylor Swift
there was no such thing as a 'chad' in the contemporary sense when i was in high school. we did have preps though. just imagine jim halpert trying to impress karen
when i was in hs around mid 2010s they listened to shitty rap
>>132017359We had hockey jocks. I partied with them alot and it was pretty much Lady Gaga, Lil Jon, Taylor Swift
>>132015570Kanye.
>>132017687i can't imagine a straight man listening to Gaga or Swift. sounds fake to me.
>>132015570Whatever the top 10 hits are at any given time
When I graduated from high school 17 years ago, it was the most normie (non-female-coded) mainstream party pop imaginable. Even regular rap was already considered too avant-garde at that time. The most underground thing people listened to was some local Miami bass scene that existed at the time, and I guess that got a pass because it was so party-compatible.
>>132015570typically hip hop or country music, but the baseball jocks would listen to vans warped tour emo/post-hardcore/screamo stuff of the time late 00s early 10s, they were real freaks they would roll out to the warped tour every year and just stage dice and mosh but they weren't into more DIY hardcore music that I was going to, jocks should listen to and get into hardcore music more it's perfect for them
>>132015570Rap, top 40, corporate safe alternative warped tour bands and adjacent bands like Brand New. Then depending on where they are in the country buttrock and pop country.
>>132015570Normal people music. I wish I could’ve been them. My life would’ve turned out to much better. I would’ve been happy.
>>132015570I'm in that waning era where I started coming of age when wiggers were the "in thing", but had pretty much all but faded from pop culture and the only ones that remained were the legit white trash hicknigsJay Z, Kanye, and 50 Cent were pretty much widely beloved by yuppie, redneck, and Nig/Wig alike. Rock still had a little cultural presence, but nowhere near as much as when I was in middle school
ironically the chads in high school were super friendly and it was the overachiever crowd whose parents all had ivy league connections who were the most insufferable. i actually dated a chad's sister for a while and he and i are still in touch.
>>132018453It’s not really ironic that people of particularly high social standing tend to be especially friendly/charming?!
>>132018486it makes sense if you really think about it because the popular kids don't have a chip on their shoulder, don't have anything to prove, and/or have better social skills. but still a lot of media likes to paint jocks as bullies.
store brand fm radio hip hop because everything else was seen as too gay or low energy. in private i listened to ed banger and developed a drinking problem
>>132018517it's always a projection from the writer wanting to paint their loser friends as the real cool people and jocks as one dimensional violent cruel retards, some of the worst people I've ever had the displeasure of knowing in my life have been people in my social group of outcasts, sorta like the bullies of the bullied, that's real cruelty, not saying one group is better or anything, but every group had their terrible people but most were pretty normal if you just talked to them, they would have probably had to keep up appearances to please their more overbearing members, most people in my school co-mingled outside of the persons who believed in the jock/nerd dichotomy/hierarchy
>>132018486Don't know if that assertion is true. >>132018517Having a more comfortable life and "higher 'social skills'" doesn't necessarily imply turning out to be amicable or not oppressive, though. But I get kind of the point that you and >>132018453 were making because a lot of boys from higher social standing/position that I met were completely friendly and kind. But maybe that also has to do with the epoch I was in (high) school which was relatively recently (late 2010s), which is different from the time others were, so things could have been very different for earlier or people and more suffered basically.
