he's done it again...release ass
Stott-heads assemble! I want to buy the vinyl rereleases of his old stuff but the £19 shipping to USA is giving me pause. That plus I can't choose which 2 or 3 to get
>>132000149you digging that new album? i need to listen to it again, might be a grower, but honestly to me andy stott has been going into a direction for the past few releases that doesnt interest me much. and i loved everything up to too many voices.
>>132000214Honestly haven't given it a listen yet, heading to bed but saw Spotify alerted me that my pre-saved Andy Stott album was ready. Im with you - i'm not a huge fan of the over reliance on ethereal vocals on some of his recent stuff, bc I think he's so talented at just capturing ambient sounds, so many artists already do the breathy female voice thing. But violence is my fav track of his and that has vocals so I'm not too picky I guess. Also if you haven't given it a listen, check out Millie and Andrea, it's stott's older side project with miles whittaker! Drop the Vowels is top 3 albums of all time for me. It's a bit more jungly breakbeat but doesn't conform to one genre!
>>132000149I have Luxury Problems and Never The Right Time. Would love to also have Faith In Strangers and It Should Be Us but I think having 4 Stott records is kind of redundant.
he's never topping Luxury Problems, time to accept that
>>132000040listening right now.2024-2 sucks so bad. it sounds like someone learning how to use a drum machine for the first time
yeah this is probably his worst release yet.so boring.I didn't mind him adding more vocals over the years but these vocals are awful and uninspired.dreamy slow female spoken word can work if the instrumental is interesting to balance it out but on new andy album the instrumentals are just as boring. Here's an example of it being done in a way that workshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opuRtua_0Fc
