    first thoughts?
    >>
Nothing but love songs. But it's good.
    >>
    >>131998689
    Sucks major ass
Bands only good song is no one knows
    >>
Is Sunday the same Sunday as the one in the Iggy Pop album?

I am asking because wikipedia says that Iggy also wrote this song.
    >>
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa3v4hknrmk
    its so good bros...
    >>132000140
Yes. It's a 'cover' of the song off iggys album even tho Josh is the one who wrote the song lol. theres not really much of a difference in the versions except imagine bowie singing the qotsa version

    Neck sorely missed
    Half the album lame
Sunday rules but should have been on Villains
    >>
    >>131998689
The songs are fine but its not what I want to listen to when I want to listen to Queens of the stone age
    >>
    >>131998689
    Lamest fucking band ever
    >>
It's like 9 of the quieter songs on the earlier albums on one album
    Doesn't work
    >>
    >>131998689
Probably their weakest but a relaxing change of pace. Still like a 7 for me. Best song Mono
    >>
does the divorce and shit properly explain what's going on with Josh?
saw him on Beato's channel and a couple of other places recently and he looked exhausted, resigned and just simply weak
seems like the whole rockstar part of him has totally evaporated
    >>
    >>131998689
Old /mu/ would've laughed this shit out of the catalogue.
    >>
    >>132000610
    >releases an album with Iggy Pop
    >some years pass
    >covers that song in one of his own albums
I knew people was saying he was going David Bowie, but I did not think it was literally
    >>
    >>132001008
Well, he has had many health problems
    >>
    >>132001021
    Mental ones included.

It's fine, sounds like it's their Tranquility base hotel and casino

    Second hand embarrassment the band.
    >>
    >>132001233
    Wtf does that mean
    >>
    villainesque
the hopes now are they release a proper new album next year
    >>
    >>132001238
2028 only, they never released studio albums back to back
    >>
    >>132001238
Villains had actual movement in the songs
    Perfecth was mostly kinda boring
    >>
    >>131998689
I still haven't listened to In Times New Roman, was that one good or dull and uninspired like Villains?
    >>
    >>132001281
i know but this one is quiet literally a bunch of songs put toghether
doesn't sound as an album, but as a playlist
    >>
    >>132001456
    ITNR's better than Villains
Not by a huge amount but it is
    >>
    >>131998689
it's only love is pretty good, but whats the point of listening to a qotsa release when the album is 90% mosquito song?
    >>
    >>131999634
You are either too retarded to get a driver's license or outright psychotic
    >>
    >>132001470
It's a glorified B sides comp, all these songs are repurposed old outtakes, and they didn't bother to make it concise as a record or put a few new ones in it a la Tattoo You. Good for what it is, but not a real album from them.
    >>
    >>132001598
Mosquito Song is one of the best in SFTD though. I'd say the Catacombs stuff is more in that territory than this though
    >>
    >>132001598
    >the album is 90% the best song ever released this millennium so far
    Don't raise my hopes!
    >>
    >>132001789
    >>132001738
ms is also one of my favorites on sftd, but I don't want an album full of ms and vampyre, that whole slow, somber style is not what im looking for in a qotsa album, give me fairweather friends, first it giveth, un-reborn again, more desert rock
    >>
    >>132001008

    >>

That train left the station over two decades ago. He literally said that the greatest goal during the recording of Lullabies To Paralyze was to not do SFTD 2

    >>
    >>132001999
    How about LC 2?
    >>
    >>132002084
    >SFTD
    2002
    >LC
    2013

their big album of this decade should've been released around 2024
but it was just ITNR instead
    it's most probably over
    >>
Why does no one talk about Era Vulgaris? That's their most underrated album
    >>
    >>132002151
Era Vulgaris has gained tons of fans over the years, it's Self-Titled that's underrated. The hypnotic Motorik Sabbath/trance-influenced sound of QOTSA'S Self-Titled is the single most novel experiment in hard rock since Blue Cheer and greatly overlooked as part of the 'neo-krautrock' pantheon.
    >>
    >>132002205
Regular John and Mexicola are top 10 QOTSA songs

    >>132001142
Old /mu/ had taste beyond being simps, pop fags, and various other garbage genre appreciators, we actually had countless albums that were amazing to step into, /mu/ doesnt have that at all now
    >>
    >>132002032
Fantano was filtered by Manning Fireworks one of the best rock records in years, hes lost any relevance
    >>
    >>132002205
For years self titled was the only Queens album I loved but I came as a Kyuss fan. Then I fell for Like Clockwork and only after that I started to enjoy SFTD and rated r
    >>
Mono was like halfway to genuine art
    >>
If you counted them crooked vultures as a QotsA record itd be easily top 3, probably number 2
    >>
    >>132003175
Id say TCV is 3 behind deaf and clock
    >>
After hearing the closer and enjoying like 4 other moments I think its gonna be a mild grower, feels mature but like it didnt fully get there
    >>
    >>132002205
for me its if only and how to handle a rope

off the new one I like this track
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHcWCtW6Oak
    >>
My favourite is "From the cliff"
36 minutes total run time is very short though.
    >>
QOTSA are the last good mainstream rock band
    >>
    Aside from "Sunday" it's shit
    >>
Mono, Sunday, goth girls, run from mob, its only love, and maybe from the cliff and insignificant other all had stuff going for them from varying degrees but most didnt go far enough. Should swung further into that experimental side, old rockers gotta do that more
    >>
This is definitely their worst album yet. There are some alright songs but it's kinda just meh. I didn't really care for the singles only the last single was ok the rest were just bland.
Probably not an album I'm gonna return to.
    >>
I think Josh bought into the whole "making music for all stereotypes" a little too much. This is their most boring one. It just sounds like rehash of past songs.
    >>
This is the first thread on /mu/ I've seen in forever where we're actually discussing a new album in depth. How sad.
    >>
    >>131998689
Different, but good. Easy street is the weak link.
    >>132001017
Iggy's China Girl is superior by A LOT tho.
    >>
    >>132003941
There's not a ton of interesting of new lps coming out that are worth discussing, and often when they are someone like me is late to the party and misses discussion threads. There was discussion over Olivia Rodrigo new record. I wouldve loved to be around for the Manning Fireworks threads but knowing his mild popularity it probably took awhile for people to realize it was amazing. Im more sad we dont have the base to praise classic albums like we used to, in the old days I could post something like perfect from now on and there'd be a wave of interest.
    >>
    >>132002151

Sounds like QOTSA to me, sounds good. Is it all good? No, but none of the songs are bad, I like that it’s a short mellow album, it feels fitting after Catacombs. My favorites are Insignificant Other and Run Away From The Mob, that bridge and outro are very novel and original for QOTSA. They branch out on this album in a way they haven’t before and it works for me, it still sounds like them just doing some new stuff which is something I commend and like to see, especially when a band is able to pull it off. I’ve been listening to them since Rated R, if you haven’t been listening as long and are shitting on this album you should suck one and see
    >>
I'd definitely rank it last, I'm not sure I see myself coming back to this. What it does good is expand their selection of more mellow material, I really enjoy stuff like It's Only Love, Mono, and Run Away From The Mob. Mob's got an incredible ending which is so obviously reminiscent of LC, if they were shelving songs like that imagine what other songs we've not heard. I think overall it would be perceived better if it was marketed as a bsides thing instead of an album
Don't like Insignificant Other. Don't like From The Cliff. Don't like Phantom Limb. You can see why some of these songs were cut

The album art is nice though, has neoclassical vibes like The Death of Socrates or something
