Mainly referring to Side A of Low, I listened to this for the first time and I'm kind of blown away by the soundscapes painted on this album, and how creative the production is. I really haven't heard anything quite like it

No Brian Eno recs please, I totally get it when it comes to the ambient stuff, but Low executes the off-kilter pop/art rock thing far better than Eno did on Before & After Science, especially with the production. I've also listened to Heroes which is good but not quite the same

The downward spiral. Insane sound design.
Terrible lyrics though.

The rest of the other 70s eno albums have the short fractured pop songs and sound design you're looking for, the songs may not all be great.

Other fractured short pop song albums that are great are are pixies - doolittle, pavement - wowee zowee, olivia tremor control - dusk at cubist castle, guided by voices - alien lanes, frank black - teenager of the year, and archers of loaf - all the nations airports which is very berlin trilogy coded.
None of the albums have the sound design or instruments you're looking for.

Pink Flag by Wire but that's more punk sounding in its aesthetics

Harmonia - Deluxe
Cluster - Sowiesoso
Harald Grosskopf - Synthesist

For me it's Roxy Music *after* Brian Eno left. It went in a poppier direction but was still highly weird music.

Anyways I listen to a lot of industrial music and there's a lot of Bowie influence there. I'm talking about stuff like Raymond Watts' early stuff. It's like electronic punk music.

154 by Wire is more like Low than Pink Flag

I only mentioned Pink Flag in the sense that the songs on that album are fractured snippets in the way that Low is. But you're right when it comes to sound

If you're wanting specifically the A side:
>The first two Talking Heads albums
>Mars Volta's early stuff
>Iggy Pop's "The Idiot"
>The Tubes
>XTC
>Maybe some Todd Rundgren but that might be a reach
>There's a small chance Foster the People might be up your alley.
>>
David Sylvian maybe.
