this is their best album and it's not even close
>>131987921I think you posted the wrong image OP. Here I'll fix it.
Darkthrone's music actually benefited by leaving their pure Norwegian black metal style behind (somewhat) & embracing a more classic metal sound along with the crust/punk influences & every other metal style that famously found its way into their later music. The 00's & beyond are a particularly fertile period for Darkthrone.F.O.A.D./The Underground Resistance/Old Star being personal favorites, among many. They've left the metal hordes a great feast to gorge ourselves upon.Or else be black metal purists & listen to only the early classics. The choice is yours. But be forewarned, you are missing out.
>>131988924I like all their albums but my favorite is still Goatlord.
Under a Funeral Moon is their best album. Panzerfaust is their last TRULY GREAT album. I honestly think the only reason Panzerfaust doesn't get thrown into their "classic albums" is because people like to use the phrase "Unholy Trilogy" and qaudrilogy sounds stupid. The album after Panzerfaust is pretty good too. Their "crust punk" stuff is mostly atrocious, and I am a fan of crust. Their newer return to black metal is okay but unmemorable.
>>131988924TUR has no bad tracks, some songs are too lengthy sure but it is a near perfect album and 'Eyes Burst at Dawn' is still one of their best songs
>>131990946Finally, some taste. >>131987983>>131993747I don't think that album deserves classic status. It's got some TH rejects, some Celtic Frost pisstakes, and one good song that was still a warmup for the Storm version (Fenriz said it was meant to have folky singing and his main inspiration was Steeleye Span).
