why does everyone hate this band?
>>
I don't.
>>
>>131986610
I can't tell you why
>>
>>131986610
hippies but uncool
>>
the beginning of corporate buttrock when the industry figured out how to commoditize the counterculture
>>
>>131986610
they're douchebags and they always played live songs exactly like the albums
>>
>>131986775
God forbid they didn't do some mindless noodling
>>
>>131986775
^This. Might has well have been a fucking karaoke night.

Eagles Live [Asylum, 1980]
New originals: 0*. New covers: 1**. Rerecording quotient: -.2***. Spontaneity quotient: -.5***, *"Life's Been Good" doesn't count. **Washed-out "Seven Bridges Road." ***On a scale of +1 to -1. C-

The Big Lebowski probably. Sure, it's sorta bland music but I don't think it warrants the hate people give them. They're not the Red Hot Chilli Peppers who just so happen to be the worst fucking band of all time.
>>
>>131986610
only braindead boomers like them
>>
One of the most controversial bands on Steve Hoffman Forum. Any thread about them will get a 50+ page shitstorm.
>>
>>131986610
I fucking love this band. Before and after Joe walsh. Shit, I love Joe walsh and don Henley's solo shit as well.
>>
Created in a boardroom by Dave Geffen and Irv Azoff with the idea of making the perfect rock band that would check all boxes off on a list.
>>
>>131986610
one of these nights, by one of these bands, just another hit wonder
>>
>>131986610
all their albums are perfect bits of 70s Americana that capture the feel of the decade as it progressed
>>
>>131986610
Vocal harmonies grate on people's ears
>>
>>131986637
kek
>>
>>131988327
Particularly the overwrought sort of harmonies that David Crosby made famous and the Eagles copied. Harmonies make everything sound "big", but do it too much and it's just mush.
>>
>>131988391
Interesting that millions upon millions didn't think so back then.
>>
Their music was corny, generic and had bad songwriting
>>
>>131989838
and yet, there's no beach in the world you wont hear some surfer dude try and slam out hotel california on a badly tuned guitar
>>
>>131989838
still, "Chug All Night" rocks pretty hard
>>
>>131988391
pretty sure Crosby et al got it from doo-wop
>>
>>131986610
Garbage band. They have all the worst traits of 70s rock. Meaningless drivel from egomaniacs. They took all the excellent country rock pioneered by Gram Parsons and co and dumbed it down to a cass caricature.
>>
while they had some good rockers, the ballads are gonna be a no from me
>>
>>131986775
>they always played live songs exactly like the albums
so? many bands can't actually do that because they hide behind so many layers of additional instruments and production bullshit
>>
Eagles [Asylum, 1972]
These guys certainly boogie more than the bluegrass sellouts who populate the vaguely country-oriented mainstream of contemporary American rock, and they certainly write more memorable songs. But this culminates the reactionary individualism that country-rock has come to epitomize in the counterculture. What's worse, the country orientation bespeaks not roots but a lack of them, so that in the end the product is suave and synthetic--brilliant, but false. And not always all that brilliant, either. B

>>131986610
Anyone who hates the Eagles is just extremely jealous.

>this culminates the reactionary individualism that country-rock has come to epitomize in the counterculture
lmao
>>
Dogshit production. Apparently they're great live but I've never seen them perform live and probably never will
>>
>>131991149
they were not good live as anon said they played songs exactly like the albums. what's the point of live music then?
>>
>>131993293
>they were not good live
They were great live.
>>
>>131993293
True, on Steve Hoffman Forum there's lots of posts about their lame shows.
>>
>>131993293
>they played songs exactly like the albums
again, how is this bad?
>>
>>131994190
>>131993293

>>131986899
he even notes that here
>>
They had some bangers. No amount of limp wristed mewling from bitter /mu/ faggots will change that.
