>the year is 1969>King Crimson has just dropped some absolute bangers>everyone calls them and their fans "boring old farts"Were people just insufferable back then? This shit slaps.
>>131978636King Crimson's debut was fucking explosive and most people who heard it loved it. It was entirely associated with the youth culture in the UK at the time. What the fuck are you smoking?King Crimson's reputation as a boring band for middle-aged intellectuals going through a mid life crisis came decades later.
>>131978814>what the fuck are you smoking?a LOT of weed, I think maybe a bit too much
>>131978636Nah that was this shit.
>>131978636Not one boomer I've met knows who these guys are, same goes 70s Genesis.
>>131978912Shame, both are good bands, maybe you're around some weird boomers
>>131978887Just looked it up, I never understood this kind of music, it feels like it's got no substance to it. Maybe I'm just weird, but I hear people from this time talking about how "less is more" and when I hear the music they like it just sounds so sanitized.Except for the Fallout 4 soundtrack, that's the sole exception.
I like Queen Rimjob better.
>>131983106I don't think Queen ever made a song with that name
>>131978636>>131978814>>131978852>>131978912my literal boomer stoner grandfather loves king crimson and other prog like EL&P
>>131985053sick ass grandfather you got there
>>131985053My dad is mostly a blues/blues rock guy and probably as old as your grandfather. Its weird because my uncle grew up on Kiss and got into country when he was older. I have no idea why prog appealed to me as a teenager, probably because I was a nerd. But after a bit I jumped ship into hardcore and grindcore. My taste is pretty eclectic from classical to jazz to AmRep noise rock to grunge to various types of metal to techno/industrial to prog rock obviously and everything in between.
>>131979210it was just filler for AC playlists. don't think too hard into it.
My dad told me that when he was a teenager he would go around imagining this album, especially Epitaph, as the soundtrack to his life. King Crimson was really big and the more hippie-adjacent boomer bubs will know them. I told some middle-aged ladies at a party that talked to me while I was trying to avoid any social interaction that Fripp is my favorite guitarist and they knew who he was
Greg Lake was something else
>>131978636>absolute bangers>This shit slapswhy is americanese so insufferable?
>>131985842"banger" is British
>>131985842I'm not even American, I'm Canadian.
>>131978636this sounds like the evil version of the moody blues
>>131987420Joyful Jazz
>>131978636shit album only pretentious douchebags pretend to enjoy
>>131987524When's the last time anyone invited you to a party/outing?
>>131988032i was invited to a halloween party this weekend but im not going
>>131979210Dion - The Wanderer. Actually has balls and personality. Unlike Como.
>>131978912This
>>131990478dion is best wop
>>131987524I love the album and I don't pretend to enjoy anything. There is very little music that I like, I don't have particularly discerning taste either, I just find the vast majority of music utterly boring, there is a select few bands, albums, and songs of varying styles that I actually like, some high brow and some completely pedestrian, with no real thread through them, and for whatever reason this album is on that list among a handful of their other songs.
