    >SPK - Metal Dance - Original 7 Inch (1983)
    >>
    >>131964726

SPK's early output often eclipses their later work in popular discourse, perhaps due to its historical significance, but I think SPK hit their peak with Machine Age Voodoo, a perfect synthesis of industrial and synthpop sounds with a slick, professional New Wave sheen, half a decade before trent gave it a try and with much better vocals. The album is loaded with incredibly hard-hitting tunes such as Metropolis and the title track. And let's not forget Seduction, a song so catchy it easily rivals what Depeche Mode were offering at the same time.
    >>
    >>131964802
I respect it and am happy to see SPK appreciation regardless, but I disagree desu. They were definitely the most commercially viable during that period and it had their strongest songwriting, but desu I really just keep going back to Information Overload Unit and their later ritual ambient stuff. Those early noise experiments are as formless as the no wave bands, but they're really interesting and songs like Suture Obsession have a a weird, unique kind of beauty. The tribal ambient stuff is similarly strange and beautiful.

Gents of /dark/: I've assumed playlist duty for Halloween. Would you be of any assistance? I'm not terribly versed in goth. There are plenty of standards I can dish out like Bela Lugosi's Dead and A Forest. Probably the most obscure goth I know is And Also the Trees

Any subtype of goth works but dancey is better

What are you guys gonna dress for Halloween, I'm doing Gerard Way
    >>
    >>132006778
why would you dress up as an emo git?
    >>
    >>131981029
Yo. I'm still here. So these tracks are definitely fancier than some of my own choices. I'm also an autist about tone / sequencing which is to say they don't quite match the others. can still make use of them, though by putting em as the stuff that runs before I hit play. Thanks again fren will return with results

    >If only Grendel had used Wheels in Motion instead of Chemicals & Circuitry to promote Timewave Zero
Actually saw them perform once but could never get into them. My favorite and I think underappreciated electro-industrial group in recent years is Encephalon. I'm not sure other people would like them very much but they're very conceptual and there's something about how they play with the sound and conventions of the genre that I really like

    >That and the Aesthetic Perfection drama really slowed down electro-industrial's momentum back in the day.
Never looked into what that was about. Whatever they were doing wasn't interesting to me, it was like some "scene" thing or whatever.

Duophonic Noise Construction meanwhile is a spinoff of X Marks the Pedwalk, which is an old-school German group:

pretty much. They had a big club hit with The Great Depression but the rest of their stuff was closer to Futurepop, which people found underwhelming.
This prompted Daniel Graves to go on a butthurt rant on his blog/socials about the scene having no standards and Metropolis Records fucking him over and cybergoths being a bunch of sheeple, and he then got Combichrist along for the ride.
That's how we got this song:
