The Mars Volta when they opened for RHCP
Pretty sure they were fucked up heavy on some drugs, they could barely play their instruments
>>
Violent Femmes
but they were the main act, there was no opener.
worst time I've ever had at a concert.

>>131925434

I once saw your mom's legs opening up for my dick
>>
i saw peaches open for qotsa i think back in the 2000s and she was just alone on the stage doing karaoke over her instrumentals (she literally put a cd into the pa system and hit "play") and hopping around like an idiot. i was young so maybe the artistry was lost on me

>>131925449
i saw them during the deloused tour, they were the headliner, and they sucked. just like 2 hours of aimless noodling. the crowd was actually getting mad about it
>>
Some local Sepultura cover band I caught some odd-months ago, they were opening up for some thrash band from a neighbouring state, but they still only played their shitty groove/nu-metal stuff from Chaos AD onward, all the band members looked like child molesters too, crazy night that was
>>
Some Swedish female free-jazz/noise saxophonist opened for GY!BE. I guess it was some feminist thing going on.

Elizabeth Color Wheel

that's most zoomer shows these days. i saw 100 gecs and they just did karaoke too. they even pretended to play acoustic guitar, it was so lame
>>
Don Felder. Fucker didn’t even play his one good song Heavy Metal
>>
>>131925587
I saw Paris Jackson open for them. Maybe this is a problem with Queens. Other than that, probably Rebecca Black opening for Katy Perry last here. I worked security for both, don't @ me.
>>
>>131925434
That's a tie between 1. Sailor Poon, opening for King Gizzard. Their big hit was a song called Butt Gush. It sounded like it.
2. Black Country, New Road. Opened for Black Midi. That's one boring ass, useless group of idiots. Will never understand them receiving so much praise and attention.

Kek, I saw them open for Deftones and they sucked.

right chick is hot af. prolly 50 now.
>>
Jamie Stewart opening for swans. I saw wooden wand opening for swans afew years earlier and it was kino. By 2012 I was burnt out by Xiu Xiu.
>>
breaking benjamin opening for alice in chains they had a fairly long setlist for an opener too bloody awful
>>
>>131925587
>>131925449
That's the whole idea behind The Mars Volta, to play terrible music terribly. They kicked out the other members of At the Drive-in because they were making the music sound good.
>>
War On Women opened for Jawbreaker. They're a modern riot grrrl band, but there's nothing unique about them, it's just some untalented vocalist yelling about feminist issues over generic rock music. I'm actually left-leaning, but it was just stupid, bad music. You could tell that the audience were acting like they were into it purely for the political rants, to socially signal that they were "good ones" who were part of the political in-group.

I also saw them open for the chilly peepers and it was terrible, couldn't make out any of the songs. I thought it was the sound mix but maybe they are just ass live.
Went to see Mike D recently and I don't know the name of the opener but it was just awful. He kept making these weird yelping sounds.

The two times I've seen Dance Gavin Dance they've had the worst support bands I've ever seen. Rain City Drive the first time, As December Falls the second. You could say this is my fault for seeing DGD live but they've recently played with bands I actually like (The Fall of Troy, Horse the Band and Glassjaw)

The worst opener I ever saw was a really shitty solo artist that opened for someone, possibly Gamma Ray, in New York City in the early 2010s. Can't recall the name but the guy looked to be in his 40s wearing a fedora and all black with fingerless gloves, and he "sang" every song by pseudo-rapping. There was a song called "Doomsday's Coming" and the chorus was "Doomsday's coming... all over your face!" accompanied with a jerk off motion every time it came around. Fucking terrible.
>>

>>131925434
This pic is a good example of the Myspace grimace, a mostly forgotten core millennial experience.

The worst/best opener I remember was Trivium, not because they played poorly but because someone spat on the singer and he threw a shitfit about it.
>Band abruptly stops playing.
>"Ok, who the FUCK just spat on me?!"
>Twelve dudes in the front all raise their hands.
Fun times.
>>
>>131925449
Let me preface by saying I actually enjoy TMV, but I saw them open for System of a Down and the crowd was NOT into it at all. This was after Frances the Mute came out, and they were arguably at their apex. But no one in the crowd wanted to stand there listening to it. They wanted to fucking rock, and 15min jams just don't rock. They were good, technically…and I thought they were awesome. But if they hadn't shown up, literally no one else at the show would've cared. So, I guess this story is less about TMV being a bad opener than it is them being a bad choice of opener for that particular crowd.

Arsonists Get All The Girls

They sucked, a bunch of people walked out on their set and the singer unsuccessfully convinced the crowd to start a pit so he had to jump down and start one himself
>>
I don't think I've seen any that were truly terrible, but Oxis comes to mind. She has a nice voice but the music is snoozeville.
No idea how she got to open for Magdelana Bay. I guess she was a fashion model who had a failed music career under the name Valentina C, then she reinvented herself as Oxis in 2025. Failing upwards I suppose

very low-effort while also being very smug.
tickets were very expensive
the 'show' consisted of them on the stage with the venue's house lights on - the way they would be after a concert when everyone was gone and janitors were cleaning the place, audience fully lit, stage fully lit, but not in a nice way.
they just ran through their songs and fucked off like they were only there for the money, which was not what we had thought they were about.
not like they were angry or in a hurry, the vibe was kind of like they thought we were lucky to see them and that was enough, they didn't put anything into the concert except their prescence.
massive let down.
everyone there seemed disappointed and kinda ripped off.

>>131925434
I went to a cringe ass "underground punk" type bar to see a mathcore/retro metalcore lineup, the opening band was called Gorf and I shit you not it was so bad that my friends describe shit ass unknown bands as "do you think Gorf is gonna be there?" now
They were all dressed up in shimmery golden wizard robes, a guy in a cowboy hat was playing keytar, some skinny fuck was reciting horrible spoken word poetry, it was weird jazzy funk fiddling around nothin in 4/4, literally what I imagine Vogon music from Hitchhikers Guide to sound like... i was confused because I wanted to get into a karate pit and just fight people, windmill a kid to death, get roundhouse kicked in the head good times right? and I felt like I was at the wrong venue entirely because this crowd was like statues and nobody wanted to even be there
So between songs the keytar cowboy hat guy yells "what does Gorf stand for? Get Out Republican Fascists!!! This next song is inspired by Super Mario 64!!" and me and the guy standing next to me shot each other a look like "get a load of this shit I cant be the only one passing away from cringe right" and I realized the guy standing next to me was Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die having the same mental crisis as me lmaoo

kino moment, core life event, the memory of gorf haunts me, anyways half the crowd Got Out til the next band and that's probably why they call themselves that. such a shameful display
>>
>>131927895
Isaac was also ass. They're theatre kids who realized no one shows up for modern art plays about things other than the holocaust, so they just said fuck it and picked up the random instruments they were assigned in band class and the silliest poems they could find on deviant art. Viola, art rock.

I saw this reddit incarnate punk band with a frontman that looked exactly like the basedjack guy. He kept stopping to give the most basic bitch talking points imagineable like "For this song the pit is for FEMALE identifying bodies only! I'd like to apologize on behalf of all WHITE MEN!" Then he'd pause for applause and get mad that nobody was reacting at all, he kept saying "And if you roll your eyes you're probably a piece of SHIT!"

Sasha and Yuri opened for Elvin Bishop at some small venue in NorCal @1977 or so. Neither band was very big and the show was not good.
Sasha and Yuri were Soviet defectors and that is their only claim to fame. LIke Robin Williams in "Moscow on the Hudson", they were briefly in the spotlight just for defecting. Musically, they were not great. They only English they knew was "rock and roll!" and they repeated that way too many times during their brief set.

To this day I have no idea why I went to that show.
>>
>>131944843
Another time I went to Monsters of Rock somewhere in (West) Germany in 1983. Lot of decent headliners with AC/DC being the big stars. For some reason, Meat Loaf opened the show, which was ridiculous. He opened with Paradise by the Dashboard Lights which was not well-received by the crowd of German college student and drunk GIs. When he launched into Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, he was booed off the stage and fans were throwing beer bottles.
>>
>>131944868
Thanks for reading my blog btw.
The worst-received opener I ever saw was Captain Beefheart opening for Frank Zappa/Mothers at Winterland in 1975. Beefheart's set wasn't bad but the fans were there to see Frank and were on him the whole show. He finally stopped the show and exchanged curses with the idiots in the crowd. After his set, he broke every lightbulb from the backstage to the dressing room.

You can hear the whole thing on YouTube: It really wasn't a pretty decent set by the Magic Band.

I saw them in late 2010 when they just started touring again and it was cinematic, loud but perfect. Also gira spat on the sound guy. lol

vaguely related, but I saw Blake Fleming drum for Dazzling Killmen, and he was easily the best drummer I've seen play live. Next in line would be Zach Hill, but he was with Death Grips and refusing to use more than a snare, kick, and tom.
I know Fleming is a bit of a brat and the TMV boys can't work with him, but he was legitimately painting the air with his drumming, never heard anything to that effect in a live setting before or since. No surprise that he wrote most of De-Loused, and they let Jon put his own twist on it to protect his ego.

Opener was for Chelsea Wolfe In Detroit around 2017 I believe. I don't remember the name but it was this sort of noise metal band (maybe industrial) with a female lead singer. Without a doubt the worst shit i've ever heard live and I've seen some bad stuff. The singer was a ultra far left lesbian woman who was visibly upset before they played a song. During the set she would stop and complain about how the audience wasn't reacting to them. She tried to tell people in the back to push up to the front because the people in the first few rows were probably looking at her like wtf is this dog shit. A gay man in his mid 30s made a comment after she complained for the third or fourth time about how her shit isn't even really music. She stopped the show and have venue security at El Club kick this man out saying he was harassing her. I wish I could remember the name of the band.

I saw Idles open for Deftones a few month back. Knew nothing about them, always avoided their music - for good reason it seems. Excluding the performative lib bullshit and open borders crap, I probably have a similar political alignment to them. Nevertheless, the inner cringe I felt was painful. They were like a parody of the most obnoxious and virtue signalling advocates of "current thing" politics. Aaagony.

When I saw Rammstein the opening act was a Rammstein tribute band consisting of some guy with his yamaha piano playing an extended medley of the non-metal parts
while his girlfriend accompanied him with two-bit operette interpretations.
I get that the typical Rammstein fan doesn't like any other music,
but who thought that the best appetizer for a band is a shittier version of the band
playing the same songs but worse in every aspect?
Rammstein must have the shittiest managers in existence.

> rocket from the crypt opening for modest mouse, only time ive seen a band heckled and booed
Says a lot more about the average faggot MM fan than it does about RFTC.

> M Ward opening for Neutral Milk Hotel... he wasn't terrible but I don't think there was anyone who wanted to see him
Unless you’re a homosexual, Transfiguration of Vincent is better than anything NMH ever did.

Thursday did this when opening for a hometown Jimmy Eat World show. The dads in the crowd were not happy whatsoever but they ate up the 'hometown pride' spiels from the other two bands there lol

hear, hear.
why anyone would book a high energy rock act to open for a bunch of low energy mumblers is retarded anyway. no wonder MM fans couldn't handle it.

DJr is ten times the band Weezer ever was. but I don't even dislike Weezer.

Some band that did a Creed cover opening for my friends band in the very early 2000s. Hated Creed then and hate them still now.

A band called Extreme opening up for King’s X. I’m old
>>
>>131975968
Yeah, they're fucking shit. I see their shirt all the time in my city and it's the perfect poser giveaway. They ripped off the Canadian band Metz, put in a bunch of middle-class centre-left pinko crap in their lyrics that challenges nothing, and have a god awful vocalist. The only silver lining is that a lot more people nowadays see through their bullshit.

This song is the most post-Peaky Blinders millennialcringe song of the decade and they made it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orxOMvmtgX8

>obnoxious atheism
"my toilet felt like God to me since I kneel to it throwing up all my shiner bock"
>toxic masculinity
"I don't know what to do so lets smash my face in"
>say fuck in the middle of words to be swagger
I’m feeling mani-fucking-fique

I will admit though the song does hit when you want to strut around your room naked and get ready to do some bad shit.
