-=READ THE GUIDES=-

Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.

== STOLEN GROUPBUILD ==

Build a Mecha or vehicle built by one faction, but change its aesthetics and style to its rival faction! Examples include but are not limited to
>Canon examples of mechs being stolen and used by another group (ie: Casval's Gundam, Feddie Zakus, Ashura Mazinger, etc)
>Designs intended for one faction that were repurposed into a design for another faction (ie: Gerbera Tetra)
>What-if scenarios (ie: A Titans color Zeta Gundam)
>Stylistic interpretation (ie: What would a EFF version of the Z'gok look like?)
When it comes to your build, really make it clear that your mecha is being used by the other side!

Posted from last thread. I recently got some Bandai Water slide decals for some high grades I'm working on. First one I'm working on at the moment is Rising Freedom and my question is are there any directions on where to apply these decals? I'm not seeing any instructions on the packet.
>>
>>24056703
From what I remember about other Bandai decals I've bought, you're meant to wing it and do what you think looks coolest. You can look up other builds that used that set and see what people came up with. Third party guys like G-Rework or Delpi will usually have something that specifically tells you where each decal goes.

Slowly working on the HG Quess' Jag Doga.
Don't know if I got a bad batch or because it's a relatively old kit, but there's a lot of swirls in the plastic. Well, there's a few for the red parts, but the joints/ inner frame bits are really bad.

Who ever told me to use acrylic instead of enamel- thank you

Waited for a day for enamel to dry before second coat- didn't work, bare plastic is too smooth and the second brush's thinner just lift the first coat. (The 2 tiny vents)

Went to town in the afternoon and got these (the store boss recommended me modo). With one coat (the right center black) did most of the color coverage. And coating with other color (the gray) did not result in lifting of color at all and all 3 coats was done within 10 minutes. I think will redo all the parts with these.

Having using Vallejo before, model colors don't particularly stick too well to bare plastic, they literally came off just by hard handling them. These modo paints seem to be more sturdy but by how much? Anyone got experience with it? It says it can brush and airbrush right out of the bottle, but it is a bit thick so I add some water for my brush painting.

Posting my stupid fucking question again just in case by some slight chance anybody might know, but would anybody happen to know if the typical Mechanical Bust kits scale to 1/60 pretty well? I only have one 1/60 kit but I thought it would be neat to have one of these busts with it as sort of a companion piece, but I'm an absolute faggot when it comes to proper scaling. I got and built the Nu Gundam one years ago and while it is cool, knowing how large the Nu Gundam is I'm pretty sure the bust is slightly too small for 1/60, but others might not be.
>>
>>24056815
Question for you anon. How do you get such clean dark into light color edge fades? Its a technique that I've been dying to learn how to do properly.
>>
>>24056888
I have the exia and the nu and they are the exact same size, so non scale. The other busts are the same as well as far as Ive seen in photos online.
>>
>>24056805
Beautiful hand.
>>
>>24056904
Oh no you're absolutely right, I only have the one but I've seen pictures showing they're the same size. I know they're technically non-scale but knowing the Nu Gundam is a little too small to be 1/60, but was wondering if some of the more traditionally sized ones like Wing or Exia might be roughly equivalent to a PG of the same suit

Genuinely no idea what you're complaining about, Joe goes over actual relevant shit like seam/mold lines, color accuracy, ease of panel lining, and articulation. What's the "useless" info?
>>
>>24056633
Just the weapons and decals to go. Surprised this came with water slides as an RG, but this is my first P Bandai RG so maybe that's normal.
Probably just going to do the Crossbone vanguard icon on the chest and the purple scars for the face.
Speaking of the face, had it fully done and realized I should have painted the inside of the mouth with like a floursecent red. I would disassemble it, but I put some plastic glue on the top skull and it apparently ran enough where the head clamshell is partially glued. If/when I do an X-1 RG I will need to do it. along with the X-0/X-2/X-3 MGs I have on order.
Shout out to the anon that said to wash the plastic cape. Gives it a bunch of depth and I think the matte coat with even out some in of the spots.
>>
>>24057116
Not complaining, i said i didn't get it. I honestly think the conclusion could be the whole review. I don't get why minutes are spent saying a kit is easy to panel line or not and how he had to whip out the micron for this or that. Like would this change your willingness to purchase? Same for mold lines, if you know enough to recognize what it is then you know how to get rid of it, do you need to be forewarned about their location?

I get what you mean. Like 90% of gunpla youtube videos are just reviews that get pretty redundant once you have any amount of experience. there's really not many channels that treat gunpla like a project instead of a product. the handful of recommendations I can give are Steb, Plamomancer, MFHobbySpace and

What is the purpose of a foil sticker on a clear part? IE: clear blue optic and then a blue foil sticker on it.
>>
So how do you make it so your paint doesnt chip? is there a way to get it durable on joints and contact between armor sections and limbs? I’ve painted a few things and havent clear coated them yet and they’re chipping and rubbing paint and shit. Is a layer or two of matte gonna cut it???
I sanded some joints and painted them for the first time (elbows and knees) and I so far so good but I just want to be done with these kits and not need to touch them up again!

I like the shading style bevause it reminds me of old ps2 games and shit, but I always wonder does the shading represent lighting? Does it represent dust? Is it just ambiguous where it can be both which is why it was used so much for old videogames? It’s comfy and nice to look at but obviously doesn’t look realistic.
>>
File: file.png (130 KB, 382x303)

>>24057270
Yes, pic related for example. Gun sights also do this where you put the foil sticker on a clear colored piece.
>>
>>24057274
You can just color the clear piece with a sharpie and get a pretty cool colored transparent effect on it.
>>
>>24057277
I've done that on some pieces, but I'm just curious if there's a reason why bandai does this. Why make it a clear blue piece when they could have just made it clear or grey.
>>
>>24057280
Out of the box with no further work the sticker is shinier, so for snapfit builds that's why it's included. The clear piece is included for people who want to go further, either with painting of some sort or for LEDs. Same reason eyes are sometimes molded in clear plastic even if cover them with the standard sticker in oob builds.

Hard to tell if Bandai actually have the guts to make a massive boss monster for this series, people were joking that 30mm Provedel flopped so hard they are now too afraid of releasing something big again, especially if they have to scale up to the usual 30MF kits which are already quite big to begin with. I've seen a pretty cool build of it. It was the white version, in its rideable configuration. It had a 30MS kit riding it and the optional tubes you can attach to it were wrapped the sister up in a kinda lewd sorta rapey fashion. The sister also had a custom faceplate with glazed over eyes to simulate the mindraped/controlled look.
It's a pretty decent "final boss" or pilot corrupting kit if you play up its strengths. Wish I saved a picture of that build when I came upon it.

2) Are they at least posed together or do they get opposite corners of the room

>do you leave extra to wrap under the part
Depends on the part. For things where I wanted the flames to wrap onto the edge or where the edge is not gonna be visible I just wrapped the excess tape beyond the edge. On places where I wanted the adjacent surface clean, such as the barrel of the gun, I cut off the excess sticking past the edge.
>>
>>24057748
>Anyone know of yellow delicate surface frog tape will work for stuff like this?
I don't know the brand but if it's masking tape it should work fine. If it's very sticky stick and unstick it down on another surface before applying over paint to reduce damage when removing it.

I got the frame finished for the ν Gundam Ver.Ka rework. To have the psycho frame exposed for the legs, the lower thigh armor on the sides had to just be removed and kept in a bag I guess. It was easy enough to remedy, I made a second slot just below the original. I'm not sure why Bandai didn't do this, it doesn't interfere with articulation and looks bad when it's missing.

>>
Chinese kits are going to get more expensive on November 1st EUbros, the ghouls are adding a 2 euro fee for each TYPE of item in a package, so just sprues + instructions + stickers/waterslides will add 6 euros to the total. Make sure to stock up now.
>>
>>24057922
>they are both the Titans version
This is both unhelpful yet incredibly helpful for different reasons, thank you, they both look really great!
>he manually painted the AEUG ver into the Titans colours
What
Why
>>
>>24057933
Because I had a snapbuilt white mk.ii, had titans colors paints around and I was bored. I intend to reverse the process next time I see a titans version mk.ii for sale.
>>
>>24057929
You messed up fees - it's flat 2€ on package, plus already existing 5€ per item type. So, 7€ total if you just order plastic kits. Of course, I would prefer it to be 0 but it's not as bad as people claim it is. Bandai kits are already better bought locally, what is actually affected are Koto kits mostly.
>>
>>24057939
>gonna do the inverse
Absolute madman, can't wait to see it
>>
>>24057949
Don't get too excited. I haven't seen a mk.ii for sale for a few years.
>>
Correction to my previous statement, it's 3€ per category, not 5. So ordering few kits (one category) translate into extra 5€.

>ghouls
Cheng, please be little less obvious.
>>
>>24057952
I'm just going to ask sellers on Aliexpress to remove the boxes, fold the instructions into each other and stack all the runners to make it look like one big kit. Fuck the government.
>>
>>24057951
Well one store says it expects the AEUG one in stock this quarter, so maybe there'll be a Titans one too! I assumed you meant on sale as in discounted though, in which case I've only seen the G Gundam ones on sale
>>
>>24057960
Why tho? Plastic model kit is still plastic model kit, one item category. You are not being charged for manual or waterslides separately, it's the same product. Unless you order decals as separate item, then it would count as two.

How do I know if I can trust an Aliexpress seller? Found a couple that have the Solomon kit im looking for, but im always wary of Chinese markets like aliexpress

Ali actually has fantastic customer support. You don't need to worry that much.
>>
>>24058038
if you feel you got scammed you can request your money back, also check if there are any buyers comments. I've bought several kits on aliexpress and always got what i paid for (some P-bandai kits even)
>>
>>24058038
whenever I buy anything on aliexpress, I try to sort search results by most orders sold and only try to purchase what I'm looking for from the sellers that have higher sold counts as they're more likely to fulfill orders properly

I haven't lost any money to aliexpress scam sellers since the buyer protection is pretty decent and in my experience it tends to default to the side of the buyer. if I haven't received any item by the time the buyer protection period is up, I just open a ticket and usually get an uncontested refund issued to your account within a few days. if the seller gave me a fake shipping tracker code, that even works as evidence since you can just submit that to aliexpress as proof that it never arrived since the shipping info will be all wrong.

one glorious year a long ago, my country's postal office had a labor strike and international parcel processing was backlogged up the ass. I ordered two smartphones during that time and both ended up being free after refunds, albeit arriving very late. the packages had real tracking codes, but since the packages didn't get processed until like 3 months later, they therefore didn't show up in my country's postal system upon arrival and as far as anyone knew, after the package left china it basically became lost and ceased to exist.

that said, I've never been so unlucky to buy something where they ship you a box of rocks or whatever, but generally that's why I only order from sellers that have a lot of fulfilled orders because odds are they aren't getting a lot of repeat customers if they're shipping rocks. if you're paranoid, take a video while opening the sealed package in case it turns out to be a dud or damaged on the way.

The one caveat I would warn you about is to ensure that the seller will properly package your product. Pieces ripped from the runners and others outright bent out of shape.

Sometimes paying the extra $15-$30 from a reputable US site is worth it.

Nice job missing the point.

Its not about necessity, or the end look. Mechanics like working on cars for the sake of building. Technicians like working on electronics for the sake of assembling.

The big complex toy obsession is about the joy of the build process and less about the end result.

For example this: 1/350 Space Battleship Yamato. $800. Did I NEED to get this one? No. There was a 1/500 Yamato for only $100. But this one had lights, motorized parts, sounds and a remote control. All those electronics were fun to build and worth the extra $700 to me
>>
>>24058337
Because inner frames are COOL. And 1/100 is just a much better scale than 1/144, offers more bang for my buck than a tiny little HG or flimsy and overly busy RG.

>>24058372
Internal frames are an integral part to the functionality of what MGs are trying be(that is real world representations of fictional machines). I'm not sure why you don't understand that. Seeing all those mechanical details as you build them really sells the MS being a cool robot and not just a plastic toy. It's why something like the MG Acguy is still one of the best kits bandai has ever put out, because the internal frame is absolutely stellar.
>>
I believe if Big ZAK sees you posting shit about him here, he makes sure customs seizes your mg MK V
>>
>>24058157
Cause people buy em up the moment the stock comes in lol
>>
>>24058383
>they LIKED working on motors for the sake of building them, not out of the necessity of it
Same with how plenty of farmers love their job, but the modern world is gonna turn upside down if they don't do it. Unlike toys and scale models, you judge the book by it's cover, not the content inside in this situation. I can understand Scopedog's cockpit or car's driver seat, but a giant robot's innerframe is just a waste of plastic.
>>
>>24058337
It's not just about the inner frame, MG kits have significantly better detail and (mostly) don't have to compromise for the sake of price or engineering limitations. They're also far more numerous than RGs, which are the next-closest kits that achieve that level of detail.
>>
>>24058390

>>
>>24058390
I built plenty of MGs during 2025 and i felt nothing to be honest. The frame looks like incompleted toys most of the time and i don't have the autism on hangar display with half of the robot disassembled.
>>
>>24058403
OK, well let's stick to model analogies then. Old wooden boat models used to detail the entire inside of ships as well, recreating details like brigs, galley, cabins and holds. Now youre not ever gonna see those unless the model builder makes cross sections for them and they dont affect the integrity of the model, but theyre still there. And its because those little details are again, fun to build. That seems to be what youre failing to understand in any of these examples is that people ENJOY the process of building those things you deem unnecessary
>>
>>24058428
That's an issue with very old kits and recent ones where they phone it in. Kits from the golden age don't have that problem.
>>
>>24058419
no
>>
If I can throw my condom into the ring here for a moment, I can see the appeal of the inner frame for master grade model kits bevause it appeals to a certain type of person—-but I have built one before and while I thought it was neat, I will probably never buy another master grade again bevause it takes too long to put something together than I’m just going to cover up with armor panels. The only reason I would ever buy a mastergrade today would be to do something with battle damage where I can paint parts of the inner frame and have it showing through destroyed armor for some kind of a diorama.

I think they could probably sell some kits making master grade size stuff without the complicated inner frame, I enjoy painting and find assembling to be the most boring part even if I do get impressed with the engineering. My fun is derived from visually looking at the finished product and not the process of putting it together.

>>
>>24058432
The thing about cars and ships models is that they are based on real objects so those details stimulate your brain. MG/RG frames are just toy joints with extra steps, they don't immitate anything or immitate very poorly. That is my problem with gunpla inner frame, why do i have to pay extra bucks for a giant pile of joints?
>>
>>24058162
I'm not a chick, but I'm digging this giant robot
>>
>>24058455
What material difference is there between a tiny real ship and a tiny fictional robot? Why is one being detailed in ways you'll never see valid where the other one isn't?
Maybe this hobby isn't for you if building models isn't fun.
>>
>>24058455
They stimulate my brain because I have a functioning imagination. Also, RG shouldn't even be in the discussion, the way RGs do frames is fundamentally different than MGs. RG frames just exist to be a skeleton rather than something trying to replicate how a machine might actually be structured like how (good) MGs aimed to do.
>>
>>24058440
>I enjoy painting and find assembling to be the most boring part even if I do get impressed with the engineering. My fun is derived from visually looking at the finished product and not the process of putting it together.
Unironically true. Detailed innerframe is abit juvenile in this hobby, teenagers with shit taste just gobble those Chinese toys with super detailed frame and LED, they snapshit the thing and open all the hatches on daily basis, there is no love and appreciation for the subject, just an obsession for the playability of the toy.
>>
>>24058455
>They dont imitate anything
They imitate the blueprints of various mobile suits

And yes, these blueprints DO exist. The RX-78 NOTORIOUSLY has had several blueprint cutaways made for art books based on computer readout screencaps throughout the anime.

Hell, the real life Unicorn and RX-78 had internal frames for the purpose of stability and mechanical moving parts
>>
>>24058464
You're just making shit up by this point
>>
>>24058462
Thats the case with the older ones. Having just built the RX-78 2.0 RG, its inner frame is just a smaller scale recreation of thr MG inner frame
>>
>>24058462
Condom guy here throwing another one into the ring the only mg I made was the zaku 2 back in like 2010 while im sure they have advanced a lot in many ways do the innerframes seem like they logically make more sense? It would be interesting to see what one of the more modern ones can offer.

I mainly like army builder units so that’s part of the reason I don’t like the idea of a grunt suit taking me like 5 sessions to assemble without any sanding
>>
>>24058458
>What material difference is there between a tiny real ship and a tiny fictional robot
Tiny fictional robot is cool, but whatever inside it to support the armor parts isn't. The details are just peg holes and toy joints as i said.
>>
>>24058470
Modern MGs are fucking sad. They have regressed if anything.
>>
>>24058470
Modern MG innerframes are a lot closer to how PG innerframes used to be fron that time period. A lot of detail to things like pistons, realistic joint articulation, etc. Whereas modern PGs have turned their focus to things like mechanical or lighting kit gimicks like the Inleashed series.
>>
>>24058472
The point is that it's something to build being provided to people who enjoy building things. Do you just dislike building models?
>>
>>24058472
>The details are just peg holes and toy joints
Not when they still put effort into the internal frames they weren't. Very old MGs before they had true internal frames where like that. Recent MGs where they can't be assed to put effort into them are like that. MGs from the 2.0 era and just before are what people miss.
>>
>>24058481
This really is not that impressive.
>>
>>24058475
>>24058473
I do remember when I put the zaku 2 2.0 together I was super impressed by the pistons, and the articulated fingers as well as a few other things. I get the appeal for sure, putting it together reminded me a bit of the old starwars illustration art books showing the mechanical details of starwars ships. like the frame underneath the zaku shoulder armor etc.

since I just like painting my dudes though for me I prefer simpler kits. the other complaint I had is once assembled the zaku 2 2.0 was a little fiddley and part would fall off sometimes. Maybe I should have glued them on? I was a snapshitter back then so maybe I did something wrong but the kit felt kind of fragile like if someone held it things would just start falling apart
>>
>>24058484
The zaku 2.0 is very sturdy. I've built 4 of them, personally.
>>
>>24058484
Btw are there any cool dioramas online of one year war battles or anything with a bunch of ms fighting with battle damage eith innerframe armor showing? I think that would be sick but I don’t have the patience or money to spend like 500.00 and literal months to do that kek that would be kino though
>>
>>24058482
It's a bunch of layers of frame, each with bits of the stuff under it poking through. With paint it's fucking gorgeous to look at. A lot of it is functional too, to support the aguy's extending limbs and such. You don't get that kind of thing anymore outside of 3rd party stuff.
>>
>>24058485
Maybe one day I will buy it again and put it together again and reevaluate it. I was younger obviously when I put it together. I feel like a lot of simple high grades feel more sturdy but maybe it’s a trick bevause the high grades weigh so little if they were to fall there isnt enough force for much to happen.
>>
>>24058489
It's just the same shape as the armor but with some zigzags and pock marks on it. It doesn't look like machinery and none if it could really be implied to have a purpose. I have built and painted this model. It's frame is unimpressive.

Both of those statues's frame had fuck all to do with their respective MG kits and no tourists cared about what's inside the giant dummies. Joints with overly long assembly should stop being a thing, they only get in the way.

I know 2 anons above already trashed on this frame but all i see is just a bunch of plastic joints. Yeah you can cherrypick old MGs with more elaborated designs but most of old stuff's frames were quite minimal.
>>
>>24058502
I like the raw, incomplete nature of scale models, not how long the dry fit assembly of them. Give me an empty hellicoper made of 2 clamshell parts so i can enjoy the painting and kitbashing as soon as possible.

Ok anon, what does machinery look like then? Because I see a near perfect replication of the drawing. All that piping, all that structure, all those layers are all replicated in the actual plastic.
>>24058508
The kampfer's frame is balls yeah. But that's what I mean by very old MGs without true internal frames.
>>
>>24058440
You do realize the inner frame does functional things for the model kit right? Ignoring the actual connecting of the parts and color separation, it allows for stronger joints and adds density which helps with keeping larger kits stable.

>>
>>24058516
Yes? That's what real life machinery looks like. Again, what exactly do you think it should look like?
>>
>>24058524
You'll notice that despite this being a much simpler machine you can see parts that move. It's not a greebled brick.
>>
>>24058523
The MG ZZ is actually one of the better recent ones. Shit like the Alex or any of the recent seed kits are even worse.
>>
>>24058515
>it allows for stronger joints and adds density which helps with keeping larger kits stable.
Objectively false. The innerframe damages the joints in the long run. The hinges in the shoulders and pelvis are pretty much the same accross all grades, yet they have to carry so much extra load in MG and PG. If you have already built MG FAZZ, Hi Nu Ver Ka, etc...Do you notice that after a while, their legs tend to spread open while standing on a flat surface yet their joints are still very tight? The monocoque structure of HG is a much more logical conclusion to Gunpla's biggest question " How to prevent this plastic toy from commiting self destruct? "
>>
>>24058528
The acguy is full of moving parts actually. It's one of the most articulate kits ever, in large part thanks to how much shit on the frame moves.

Unironically. Do you really expect me to respect this pile of dogshit with balljoints and lego pegs? An engine is an engine, a ship cabin is a ship cabin and MG innerframe is a half chewed toy with 50% of it's components missing rather than a complex robot without exterior.

This reminds me that after getting into painting I stopped liking all the big expensive modern MGs and RGs. The moving parts and transformations seem like a bother to paint and the gimmicks lead to a lot of scratching and paint coming off.

I use Vallejo's primers (gray, black, and German red brown depending on what I'm doing). I brush them on but that is somewhat tedious. It otherwise goes alright as long as you thin the primer a bit (I do a 3:2 ratio of paint to thinner) with their acrylic thinner medium.
>>best paints
AK Interactive for sure. They're super consistent and not expensive at all. We are at a point where, thankfully, most hobby paints are pretty decent, if not amazing. Vallejo, Army Painter, Two Thin Coats, Mr. Hobby Acrysion, Bear Cavalry, AMMO Atom, and Monument ProAcryl are all good, though it's worth noting every range is going to have a bad color or two.

Retarder is a must. It'll help you reduce brush strokes by giving you more drying time. A wet palette is useful too, that keeps your paints fresh for longer work sessions.

Also I think I felt enemies were too spongy in it? Been a very long time though.

Don't brush too aggressively, let the paint flow from the brush onto the parts

X-2's done. Something about dark blue plastic works so well with matte coats compared to other colors. Ended up painting in the purple scars on the head as the decals has a ton of edge to them and I discovered I had nearly the exact shade of purple in Mr color on my shelf. One tiny brushing and some iso to cleanup and they went easily.

Darker colors in general tend to already look better out of the box. Maybe it's because they reflect light as much so they look less plastic-y. I rarely paint dark blue/ black/ dark green as well. Super bright colors are the ones where I absolutely have to paint. Yellow/ orange/ salmon red tend to be the worst out of the box to me.

It has more to do with pigment than darkness. Yellows/oranges/some reds/some blues are well known to have issues with pigments. It's not even just a plastic issue, many paints in those shades have issues too.

Please forgive me for asking a stupid question. Is their a guide or gunpla data that will tell you what model kits are compatible for mix-matching parts? I want to try my hand at making a custom model.
>>
>>24060238
I don't think there are any detail guide for this, but the newer HG size kits usually use the 3mm connection holes which allow you to mix matching parts regardless of whatever series they come from. You probably will have to do your own research and searching reviews or videos for relevant kits you want to use.

All of them
>>
>>24060238
Not that I know of. That'd be a pretty involved guide. There are broad eras of engineering aspects which can lump in lots of things but it just gets very tricky very quickly when you're considering every joint.
You can go look at dalong and see how any kit is constructed which is the best advice I can give you, as well as some tips for how to convert some common elements but it all depends what you wanna do. Broadly speaking I think the most volatile and variable connection point tends to be the shoulders (and arms), the methods of connection arms and shoulder armour and the torso together has undergone a bunch of revisions and the work changes scale dramatically depending which you wanna convert to what.
Anyway there are answers to all of them so if you wanna do it it's best to just decide what you want, look at the problems with combining them, and ask for help in how to easily do it. A lot less hunting around.
>>
>>24060238
Bandai's 30 Minute lines (30 Minute Missions, Fantasy, and Sisters) heavily emphasize customization and make it easy to mix and match. If you want gunpla specifically, the Build Fighters kits were also constructed with that in mind.

Is there a retard proof way paint my MG Hyaku in mirror gold or do I just panel line and high gloss topcoat it like a faggot? Compared to the awful HG the runners look infinitely better.
>>
>>24060826
You'd need to strip the plating to do that. If you want a mirror gold hyaku shiki, the MG 1.0 is mirror gold plated.
>>
>>24060826
Strip the plating with paint thinner - paint it with chrome - Finish with either clear yellow or clear gold.

Your problem was probably paint reaction. Chrome paint is notoriously prone to getting fucked up by anything put on afterwards. Alclad makes a product called aqua gloss which does not react with anything that's meant to protect chrome paint. It works great.
I suggest
>Black surfacer
>Gloss black paint
>Wait a few days for a complete cure
>Light chrome application
>Wait a day
>Aqua gloss
>Clear yellow
>Gloss clearcoat of your choice

I saw plenty of Chinese dudes used this method and it honestly looks like piss solid piss to me. Dunno why, but even mirror gold needs some sort of metallic shine to them instead of being completely mirror-like so i always recomend silver over literall mirror chrome, probably just my taste.
>>
>>24060876
I also prefer a bit of fleck in my metallics. I use mr.color ultra silver for mine. I also think mirror gloss looks tacky usually so I end up toning down the shine a bit at the end.
