Welcome to the Gunpla/Plamo General!

For those new, please read our guides. We have many resources available to help you in many different aspects of the hobby. They're here for you!

For the unclear, "plamo" is short for "plastic model". "Gunpla" is thus short for "Gundam plastic model". Many different kinds of models are built here, ranging from mecha to planes, cars, musume, you name it! If you're new, you're gonna screw up. Don't worry! If you're seasoned, don't make the newbies worry!

And don't forget to report shitposting and spam. The mods don't browse /m/ too often, so it's up to YOU to help keep our general clean and civil!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Be more specific, and try to provide clear images if you can.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data when images are uploaded, including the orientation tag if it's from your phone. To fix it save out your images separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the images for you.
One easy to use app that works well on Android:

== STOLEN GROUPBUILD ==

Build a Mecha or vehicle built by one faction, but change its aesthetics and style to its rival faction! Examples include but are not limited to
>Canon examples of mechs being stolen and used by another group (ie: Casval's Gundam, Feddie Zakus, Ashura Mazinger, etc)
>Designs intended for one faction that were repurposed into a design for another faction (ie: Gerbera Tetra)
>What-if scenarios (ie: A Titans color Zeta Gundam)
>Stylistic interpretation (ie: What would a EFF version of the Z'gok look like?)
When it comes to your build, really make it clear that your mecha is being used by the other side!

Are you talking about the rectangles? If you have a small drill/pin vise you can drill the corners of the rectangles, then drill a few more holes along the line, then it's just a matter of connecting the dots with a blade and then shaping the edge with a hobby knife. The first one will be time consuming but by the last one you should be knocking them out pretty quickly.

>>
>>24053785
>not really, anything you have to scratchbuild entire parts on isn't anywhere near the "most entry level-friendly DIY projects known to man"
It quite literally is. All the parts are basic polygons. No compound curves to deal with.
The only thing easier is a basic paintjob, but that I would not even consider a DIY project.
>>
>>24053791
That's just simply not true in the slightest and you're the silliest little retard for trying to say any project involving scratchbuilding even just a rifle as one would have to do for F91 Jegans is not at all the most entry level DIY project.

"Why yes there's nothing easier to do than scratchbuild a beam rifle design. What do you mean all those other things that are easier?"
>>

I think very little of myself, and yet an F91 jegan is a simple mod that only requires sheet and rod styrene.
>>
>>24053767
You do realize that even the F91 Normal type Jegan has a new beam rifle, new top half of shield, new backpack, new outer legs, and a modified head antenna right?
And there are two more variants with even more differences?
>>
>>24053806
>You do realize that even the F91 Normal type Jegan has a new beam rifle, new top half of shield, new backpack, new outer legs, and a modified head antenna right?
>And there are two more variants with even more differences?
No, you have this completely backwards. The F91 Normal and B type have the exact same legs, an even more simplified backpack (just requiring covering up detail with flat panels over the CCA jegan), an extra vernier on the "wings" of the backpack, some super basic missile pods and a disc removed from the vulcan pod replaced with a small square protrusion, and the simplest shield mod known to mankind. The type A is the one with the new legs and shoulders. This is all very entry level, and the only thing preventing you from making either a normal type or B type is your own fear of exerting minor effort.
>>
File: cgh060_26.jpg (93 KB, 896x650)
93 KB JPG
>>24053813
The normal type is on the right. It has new leg parts. Dalong is in English now, you don't a have to be retarded.
Looking at his spare parts picture is the easiest way of finding differences.
>>
>>24053816
oh no! you have to remove detail and fill a little area with putty!
truly the hardest job in the world!
>>
>>24053805
A simple mod isn't scratchbuilding entire parts bro.
Yes, by the way, hotshit. Not a typo.
>>
>>24053818
guess you should know your Jegans next time before running your mouth
>>
>>24053818
Ah, so we have moved on from "there are no curves and just need flat styrene and rod styrene" to "you need flat styrene, rod styrene, and putty".
Also scratch building like 30% of the kits exterior is not a beginner friendly project even if it is mostly flat styrene. Especially since we are talking about the MG so you want to add a certain level of surface detail.
>>
>>24053822
you don't need to scratchbuild any curves. my original statement remains correct. the existing curve for that leg exists and you could even directly sand through the existing leg vernier into the desired end shape if you glued it prior to sanding without needing any putty.
>>
File: 1792641188967.jpg (1.42 MB, 4080x3072)
1.42 MB JPG
>>24053824
It's not a single piece on the MG, which is what we are fucking talking about.
>>
>>24053824
Well no, you're going to have to use putty because you'll have a hole there when you take out the vernier, you weird little larper.
>>
>>24053827
>>24053828
ah, so you are both inept and illiterate
>you could even directly sand through the existing leg vernier into the desired end shape if you glued it prior to sanding without needing any putty
all of the old vernier protrudes above the desired curve (including the interior yellow part.
if you glued the yellow part to the surrounding leg armor, you would be able to sand both flush into the surrounding armor with no leftover holes.
>>
>>24053831
What part of "there's a hole there" don't you get you stupid fucking retard
You are trying to talk about something you don't even know the assembly of
>>
>>24053836
there is no "hole"
the yellow insert is a solid piece of plastic with a minorly inset louver detail that still remains hugher at its lowest point than the desired contour that you would be sanding to. If you sand through both the vernier surround and the top layers of the yellow insert, it will wind up a continuous, flush surface.
>>
>>24053836
Is it too hard to drill a hole in plastic?
>>
>>24053831
>>24053836
The center of the vernier is part of the inner frame of the leg and is *not* above the curve of the leg.
You are still ignoring the main argument with yourself. It's not that this is particularly hard. It's that it isn't a beginner friendly straightforward DIY modification.
Also the more important part which is Bandai can do this on 2-3 runners for each variant with some gates making them share most of the mold. Then be able to have 3 more P-Bandai releases.
>>
>>24053838
the yellow insert is not a solid piece of plastic, it is a piece with a hole in it, and it sits recessed on the innermost part you fucking dumbass
>>
>>24053842
nta
nothing a little trapezoid of plaplate wouldn't fix
zero putty needed
>>
>>24053839
anon I think you might be even more retarded
the entire point is you don't want the fucking hole, you will have to putty over it, which no actually no one is saying is the hardest task ever conceived by man but a direct rebuttal to the retard who doesn't know what modifications are even required to do what he's saying and said it wouldn't need anything to do but sanding, because he's talking completely out of his ass for (you)s.
>>
>>24053845
>you will have to putty over it
As >>24053844 said, just make a plaplate stack.
>>
>>24053847
no one is asking how to do the mods lil bro
in fact I feel confident everyone who has posted knows how you can accomplish this
the discussion originally stemmed from that it's not the simplest DIY in the world to make an F91 Jegan but here is a very direct post refuting a very direct claim that is intentionally pointing out that anon can't be bothered to check dalong before pretending to be an expert on how to even do the mod (hurr just glue and sanding it's all flush!)
>>
>>24053852
It is a pretty simple DIY build thoughbeit
Zero compound curves
All can be done with styrene tube and plate
>>
I really really want a MG jegan A type but would never ever do any modeling to get one
>>
>>24053856
For the last time, each individual mod is not difficult, but rebuilding 30% of a kit is not considered simple, let alone entry level. Especially since it includes a completely scratch built gun (and it's an MG so you would expect that to have things like a detachable epac)
>>
>>24053859
>each individual mod is not difficult, but rebuilding 30% of a kit is not considered simple
many simple changes remains a simple project
>and it's an MG so you would expect that to have things like a detachable epac
people do not care about this kind of stuff when a kit is painted. play features only appeal to people who think of their finished projects as toys first rather than a display piece.
>>
>>24053862
This thread is about toys, but either way you are building an articulated model so you can occasionally repose it, which sometimes involves changing options on it. When I paint kits I do all of the parts for this reason and make sure not to glue anything important into place.
>>
>>24053706
>>24053714
Kinda strange that they didn't just go straight to GN-XIV. Not complaining though.
>>
>>24053862
no, many simple changes makes something an involved project, not a simple one. One simple change is a simple project. 10 simple changes is no longer a simple project. Nevermind anything more about any of this, your initial premise is just completely wrong because you don't understand words.
>>

Finished the fat nigger last night. Photo session and B pack later today if the weather permits.
I really like my paintjob and this was a kit I had wanted for a long time but damn he took a long time to finish. Very nice colors to work with but the tan kinda got old around the second highlight of the 80th part.
The chink decal set I got for him was really thin and easy to work with but the A backpack missile pods have around 40 decals by themselves and they're not even that noticable. Also it had too few copies of a couple of the decals which was weird because it had additional ones and color variants of others.
I told myself while reassembling him that I would paint something smaller next but then I saw the MG Alex and Gustav Karl were in stock so so much for that idea...

And speaking of newly released 30MS stuff, also digging Dilmea. Shame she's P-Bandai. I really like the Saint Seiya-ass Space Admiral look she's doing.

myasti as full package is really cute though. And the sestiah line is leotard focues so having that bloomer was pretty stupid. kinda reminds me of koto releasing a recolored izumo that gave it a proper leotard instead of that dumb waist skirt bit.

I think my complaint with 30ms peebs are the fantasy ones have more bang for their bank compared to the prior sci-fi themed versions.

One thing is for certain, just because you helped design decent robots for one series, doesn't mean you have the capability to design good robots for another series. Guy clearly should have been stopped early on but bandai was hoping and praying that his garbage would be a smash hit.

I think he was asked to re-imagine what these robots would look like with the evangelion design philosophy. that immediately explains why the Gundam looks like an chinese Eva ripoff. He must have run into issues with the zaku, as it is less eva inspired and instead 6 turtles that are loosely connected to each other with appendages.
>>
>>24054259
I tell you what's wrong with it, at least the HG - it have absolutely abysmal articulation. Legs can bend and that all - they cannot even rotate, except at very small range at their hips so you are pretty much stuck with "leg up, leg down" pose like some McDonald Happy Meal toy. Arms have to stay slightly up all the time since they otherwise would collide with mentioned hips. The only pose it can take is default standing one that Japanese love so much, which is probably why nobody even noticed.

It was my first Zaku and I already hated it.

Uh, it actually is just the gr rezel scheme though. I brightened up the orange a little bit but the tone of the tan is pretty much exactly what the plastic is molded as. My base coat was a little darker and the highlight a little brighter. With the darker shadow color it strays a bit further but still registers as the default colors to me. The only actual adjustment I did was making the gun green grey, the b pack guns dark blue and the missiles red.

This. Each Gundam Base has its own personalized statue based on its location. Gundam Base Hong Kong has a large God Gundam overlooking the entrance, in reference to the Gundam Fight final tournament taking place in Hong Kong. Gundam Base Sydney having a Shamblo would be in reference to the Torrington Base attack in Unicorn, presumably because they thought that a giant space colony falling on top of the Gundam Base would be an engineering challenge and a bit in bad taste.

That being said, Bandai seems to be more willing to make HG mobile armors as of late:

GP03: March 2002
Psyco: August 2004
GN Arms Exia: March 2008
GN Arms Dynames: September 2008
Neo Zeong: June 2014
Hashmal: December 2016
Narrative-A: November 2018
Nightingale: July 2021
Typhoeus Chimera: December 2023
Destroy: March 2024
Zeus Silhouette: December 2024
Psyco Mk-II: March 2025
Alyzeus: April 2026

Five mobile armors within the last three years is pretty big, especially since before it was a pace of about one every two years at most. Shamblo has a decent chance it's Unicorn, and honestly there aren't that many other possibilities. 0083 is a bit old hat so Neue Ziel probably isn't that appetizing. Alpha Azieru has a decent chance as well since it could ride on Hathaway's popularity and CCA always gets love. There's also a couple of Urdr-Hunt mobile armors that could get kits but highly unlikely since Bandai's love for Urdr-Hunt seems to only extend to mobile suits. That basically leaves OYW mobile armors, especially the meme possibility of Big Zam.

A friend's in Hong Kong, what's a good gunpla to ask for that they might not have in stock here back in the west?
>>
>>24054734
There are shitloads of hobby stores (and even entire dedicated shopping centers) that sell Gunpla for significantly cheaper than here in the US, stock availability isn't the only benefit. Several of them also have second-hand P-Bandai that roughly equal out to the cost of buying from US P-Bandai (maybe slightly cheaper thanks to tariffs and shipping) but which haven't seen the light of day on US P-Bandai for probably years.

I wouldn't go to the Gundam Base there except if you really really want a particular exclusive, since it's far more expensive than the hobby shops. When I went there, I think they had the RG Sazabi FF for roughly $80 USD.
>>
>>24054740
Wowie
Then maybe I should ask for an HG Re-Gz
I can't ask for anything too expensive, I will merely be receiving one or two (1-2) gifts
>no Richard Dias or his German cousin whose name I can never spell
>The O we have here too
An RG Sazabi would be really nice though
>>
>>24054743
You can get a regular RG Sazabi at Hobby Lobby right now for like $45 USD. Personally, I'd set my sights higher and go for something more rare. The stores I went to were virtually littered with HG Rose and Dragon Gundams, and by now there might be stuff that was released more recently like Spiegel and such. At one particular store I'm pretty sure I saw a MGEX Strike Freedom for like $100 USD.

Though honestly, unless your friend is willing to spend the time to go hunting for you, it's probably best to just make a list of kits you'd like (also send pictures of the boxes to help identify them) and settle with whatever they're able to find. There's like at least a half-dozen places I found between the island side and in Mong Kok, and asking someone to go to out of their way to visit all of those locations would just be assholish.

>list of kits
I mean, I don't necessarily know what options there are or what would be good, I was given a Beastbox of the black Getter Robo last time because I like supers, but I wouldn't know what cheap options if any for kits (or toys) exist for Gurren Lagann, for instance. I think he's going to visit his usual locations as a native and let me know what sort of stuff he saw, but it'd be helpful to note any kits I was sorely missing... which I don't really have a list for anymore. A TV Eva-01 would be nice, a ReGZ would be neat but not essential, would the Gqux Hamburabi be a good choice, since it's slightly expensive for an HG?
Maybe the Zock??? There's a bunch of kits that are "stuff I'd love but can't justify buying" and the Zock is near the top. Same price as The O except it's a brick... but design-wise it does everything it's supposed to do, including its movement. I did mention wanting some mobile armors, I guess worst-case a Zock might count??

I still find it so weird we got such an early RG of Unit 1, but still no Unit 2 or 3. All the MGs would be well served with updated versions at this point but I really woulda thought we'd get RGs. RG Stamen would be a good excuse to hype up a Dendrobium reprint with it too.
>>
>>24054928
Pretty sure OVA boys will get their RG eventually, Ground Gundam is coming. It is objectively better to be made late because man, those old RG kits stink.
>>
>>24054933
I'd still pretty readily recommend the MK2 and GP01 to anyone interested in them but yeah, the modern RGs are vastly improved. True for most lines. RE100 might be the only real exception I can think of, and that's pretty much only because the earlier releases had more hand options than what the line's settled on. Other elements of construction mostly improved though so whatever.
>>
>>24054936
The only bad re/100 is the nightingale. It's gotta be the most consistently good line they've made.
>>
>>24054941
The Jagd Doga, as much as I love to the point I have three, is pretty disappointing. Just extremely weak joints and no holding power. Nightingale, Detector and Efreet are the only ones I don't personally own so can't comment on them, but I'll be getting the Detector soon.
>>
>>24054947
Guncannon detector is really good. Nightingale has worse issues than weak joints. It can't hold its weapons at all. It likes to drop arms. It has no articulation in places where it should and could have very easily. The subarms are solid pieces. It's just strictly worse than the high grade.

>>
>>24054956
Yeah I expected all those issues with it though honestly. Big dudes in 1/100 are just going to have problems without real engineering work going into them which absolutely doesn't mesh for a line trying to be simplistic. I wasn't ever gonna buy it for other reasons but lacking the subarms is pretty fucking embarrassing. Jagd Doga not being able to lift its knees is not something I really expected though.

On the plus side the HGUC Nightingale is remarkably good and that it can hold its rifle and pose just about anyway it wants is pretty impressive. I expected something less stable but they really knocked it out of the park. It renewed my appreciation for the design honestly.

I considered painting the underside of the visor silver to match the other cameras but the raised details look really nice chromed out on a darker background
>>
>>24054964
The thrusters were a bit of a pain to paint and the dark rings aren't 100% clean but they're good enough. Honestly he might look better from the back with how much color there is on it.

Bit of trouble with the silver? Are you touching up with a brush? Feel like a lot of the silver application in places could be cleaned up with a quick bit of handbrushing.

Thank you, I'm glad to be /gpg/'s premier gardener
>>24054977
Not sure what part you mean. The only painted silver is under the visor, the vulcans and the lips of the thruster bells and they're all done by brush. I used foil stickers under all the other cameras.
>>
>>24054977
>>24054981
Ah, upon reinspection some of the thruster lips did get rubbed off, I'll need to touch those up.
>>
>>24054981
Just asking about the vulcans and thruster bits since there's some poor coverage there is all. Seemed like the sort of paint damage from masking issues is why I asked that way. Also that forehead seam stands out to me on the closeup underneath the jewel.
Really like the back of the legs, the silver between the cables adds a whole lot in that area. Your decal placement is nice too, though I think the missile pods maybe coulda used some warning text or something?
Mostly my taste, but I think the interior of the missile pod bay doors would look nicer in a dark colour instead of being white outside and inside too.

>Your decal placement is nice too, though I think the missile pods maybe coulda used some warning text or something?
They do have little red ones on every single door but they get washed out in the zoomed out photos. I wanted to put something a bit bigger there but I didn't have any other decal on hand that I liked for them that I also had 12 copies of.
>interior of the missile pod bay doors
Yeah that's completely fair I considered doing them in the same color as the inner frame but this kit has so many parts that I decided to just leave them in the purple shadow color.
>>
>>24054997
Ahh, yeah, I missed those. Definitely help add some visual complexity to it when the hatches are closed.
>but I didn't have any other decal on hand that I liked for them that I also had 12 copies of.
Makes sense, yeah, it can be annoying as fuck to get matching decals of duplicate equipment.
Definitely does feel like a model where you could display the back of it. Really like the pose with the beam sabre out particularly, always fond of "just pulled out a beam sabre to block an attack with my offhand while still holding my gun" kinda thing. Just tells a story from the pose immediately, you know? Looks great. I hope this one's from an alternate timeline where it and all its friends didn't job terribly to two MS.

It isn't much of a feat, they just followed the MG Doga. I like the RE100 sculpt a lot more though personally. Would've been nice to get a proper MG too, it is one of my faves and now lives in the sad state of being the only non-MG CCA design but I don't really have much attachment to inner frames really. I'm generally happier with (somewhat) simpler kits these days, just getting the design is most of what matters to me. I can do the rest myself if I care about it so much. I do enjoy building a complex MG but if every design had a RE100 or MG to choose from, only my faves would be in MG.

Speaking of Frame Arms Girl, I really do wish they release a new version of Gourai. The latest proper build of Gourai they did was the Gourai-Kai back in 2020. Ok, second attempt at TR5 Gigantic Arms and just discovered this interesting detail. Bandai sculpted the shoulder peg with a tiny hole on the other side so you can put metal pins inside without having to drill it. Actually quite brilliant. It will last much longer with those huge arms now.
>>
>>24055755
HGUC Zaku III is one of the very first HGUC kits of the line. It is in every way extremely dated. You'll be happier with the Doven unless you really love the Zaku III.
That said if you like the classic Zaku III the HGUC's sculpt isn't bad at all, but it needs work. It's made of seamlines and shallow molding and clamshells, but it can pretty up nicely.
>>
>>24055756
New RGs don't really use the pre-built inner frame. They just use intricate construction. I suggest the RG X-1, Impulse, or Nu/Hi Nu if you want to see how nice RG can be.
>>
>>24055771
>RG X-1

I dislike Nu/Sazabi slop. I'm interested in Zeong, but Bandai ver. has stock issues and got marked up to hell here, so I bought the 1/100 upscaled ver. instead. maybe RG Ez8 in the future..
>>
>>24055776
RG X-1 isn't that small. It's not like it's a Loto. As the model goes most normal sized MS are only a hair bigger than it practically, though it does have a few really small pieces if that's a problem. I never got Zeong but I bought it for a friend and he liked it. Not much experience in the others though from what I've seen any of the new releases share similar high quality construction to those I mentioned.
>>
>>24055786

>>24055788
Very based. RG X-2 has been haunting me on PB for a while. Definitely want it but also definitely don't need it so it's just waiting.
Shoutout to their cloak particularly. A heavy wash on it makes it look fantastic. I do have some autistic quibbles with it though, mainly that it's bullshit the cloak isn't designed to interlock with the shoulder latches as it's supposed to. Feels like that wouldn't've been that hard to do with how it is already.
>>
>>24055769
I wish I could be dated...
And alright, they both seemed like bulky Neo Zeon suits with obtrusive heads, albeit the Doven Wolf is newer and has more shit. The seamlines for the Zaku III were a bit depressing but I was ready to love it anyway, and I've been fencesitting on both of them for a while
>Doven Wolf's an elite suit
>but it's piloted by Rakan and Glemy supporters
>whereas the Zaku III Custom is piloted by gigachad Mashymre... which is a more dated kit
>I could just get the upcoming Hamma Hamma
>or I'd have to pick between the basic III or the III custom
I love Neo Zeon suits but the second I start thinking about the Doven Wolf's role in ZZ I start getting unhappy
>>
>>24055808
If you think about the story then almost every UC MS is lame. What did Dijeh even do beside sitting on the Jabber?
>>
>>24055808
Go for the Doven now, Hamma Hamma when it comes out, and join everyone else in waiting for a Reboot Zaku III to happen.
Alternatively, I mean, the Zaku III is fucking cheap. One of the cheapest HGUCs there is when it's reprinted. Not talking about kits you really gotta break the bank for here so I wouldn't worry a ton, yknow? Pick it up now, pick it up next year, whatever - pretty decent likelihood everything ZZ will reprint next year.
>>
>>24055817

>>24055820

I still have to get on that, picked up a Hazel pre-emptively

I was just gonna pick up the Zaku II FZ but I doubt some psychopath Mk II is going to nab all six of them

>>24055884
Enamels are great for sensor lenses and single color small details. You only need to apply one coat with them when you have them at the proper consistency.
>>
>>24055893
You know the problem is not really waiting

As someone who only paint missing colors and nothing else using masking and cans of lacquer, im currently making a kit with too many small panels to do what I usually do.
And using acrylic just risk of having the paints flake off due to lack of adhesion- something enamel don't do. But damn waiting for stuff to cure to apply next coat paint is just annoying.

Maybe there is a brand of acrylic that is as strong as enamel without the crazy wait time?
>>
>>24055895
I think almost all the joints on the MG Crossbones kinda suck. You can tighten them and get them to not suck as much for the limbs and all, but the 4 thrusters don't attach in a great way and there's only so much you can do. The elbow joints also look kinda ugly when you rotate them which is minor but could be better. Last real complaint is that a few areas could definitely be part separated like the yellow circles across it. Even at the time some of those felt lazy and they stand out more as time goes on for how popular the designs are.
>>
>>24055902
Wouldn't topcoat seal the paint anyway so it won't flake?

over time I've started keeping clear runners. I've used some here or there for display parts. Sometimes I snip out long rods of normal runners and trim them up for scratchbuilding purposes, it's about as fine as any styrene rod.

I usually just keep them in the boxes and put them in storage boxes. I do know some people use them as plaplate like >>24056030 and I also know some people use runner plastic with tamiya cement, mix it up, and use a brush to make a metal effect like pic related.

I have 6 or so different types of their 1/144 models, I'd highly recommend them.
Those smaller fucks like the fenrirs and the xenowhatevers aren't really too interesting once you have them in hand.

individually all the parts look cool but they fail to creative a cohesive structure or a recognizable silhouette. overall the design doesnt really convey what it is either. I cant tell if this supposed to be a fast DPS guy or a bulky short range type

Progress on the X-2. Realized the knives in the calves gave a good spot to push in some of this tungsten putty and get some weight down lower.
Found this stuff off of a comment on one of Zach's videos. It's like 3x the density of Gunprimer's gravity stuff, but never dries so it's great for things like this or trying to figure out how much can fit.

Lookin cool and like it could take on the whole Death Gale team if Seabook was piloting it
Haven't messed with that stuff, seems handy. A little more weight in the legs would help with striking more dynamic poses with the cloak on. It can be a bit top heavy and the thrusters can mess with the centre of balance just enough sometimes so a little more weight there and maybe in the belly would probably go a long way towards stand-less posing.

Strangely specific question, would anybody happen to know if the typical Mechanical Bust kits scale to 1/60 pretty well? I only have one 1/60 kit but I thought it would be neat to have one of these busts with it as sort of a companion piece, but I'm an absolute faggot when it comes to proper scaling. I got and built the Nu Gundam one years ago and while it is cool, knowing how large the Nu Gundam is I'm pretty sure the bust is slightly too small for 1/60, but others might not be.

>>
>>24056225
For the putty stuff, the hard part is that RGs are pretty solid already so I was only able to add that to the legs and a tiny bit in the feet. Without the arms it's still falling backwards with the core fighter in. Maybe I can fit some in below the core fighter in the chest like you mentioned.
I'm really interested in trying it in some top heavy HG with hollow feet. Probably would make a big difference there.

I'll admit that I have always been the kind of ttg scum who is indifferent on doing bases before moving onto another model; but the paint and pose is done on it. I currently have 2 hover trucks that came with other bundles I picked up. Vehicles are going to be the biggest hurdle for the MSGBS as there are absolutely zero easy ways to get your hands on any of the OYW vehicles. Occasionally I'll see an overpriced hover truck print and a decently priced bundle of 5 Fed MBT's on amazon; but fuck me if theres any way to get a Magella outside of spending $150 on the EX 2 pack from ebay.

Some runners weren't packed into the plastic bag properly, should not be a huge issue unless the box got damaged which increase the risk of parts/runners missing.
Also for some retarded reason they produced less armor set than the samurai kit which is fucking dumb consider the possibility of people skipping the samurai kit and just get the armor set.

Copierd from other thread

How do people paint shit like this? When you have a model kit where the shin area has separation and tou have to glue it or fill the gap with sprue glue and sand it down and fuse it together, then what??? because you need to have the other pieces it connects too already inside of it also. So how can you paint everything? I’m going insane trying to figure out how this happens or makes sense. Think knee joint being assembled and put inside of the leg which you now fused together. how do you paint all of this bevause tou can’t seperate it

Basically what I’m asking is—- many kits tou need to fuse the two halves of something together or else it will look like shit even if it’s painted. So how the fuck do you fuse something together and rhen paint it when it now is connected to other shit which needs to be different colors?
>>
>>24056482
I spray the lighter color, mask it off with either tape or silly putty and then spray the rest. If I miss or fuck up in any way I'll just touch it up by hand with a brush or re-spraying. It's annoying but there's no other way
>>
>>24054295
If DEI existed for robots they would hire ones that look like this
>>
>>24056482
That's a pretty realistic painting of Albert Einstein you've got there.
>>
>>24056482
Mask it in sections. I generally tend to paint the stuff inside first, install then mask, before doing any welds.
>>
>>24056482
Sometimes you can cut the inner parts out in a way that you'll be able to place them back for final assembly and maybe glue them in if needed. Or just turn the seam line into a panel line with a scribing tool
>>
>>24056491
>>24056490
>>24056485
For example I’m talking about older kits like the zaku 1 from 2006. Would you paint the knee joint first, and then put it in the shin/lower leg armor, fuse the leg together, and then paint the leg? It just seems light a nightmare even for a simple kit.
>>
>>24056493
Yeah, that's how I'd approach it. Fichtenfoo's very old tutorial explains the method well.
>>
>>24056496
I like the old kits a lot for their proportions, but I’m unsure if I want to learn how to seam weld shit like this. it seems like a pain in the ass and like building a kit and solving a rubix cube at once..

What are the chances it drops to sub-rape prices after the series ends and nobody even kind of cares anymore?

I wonder if there's a way to modify the armor pieces to make the panel lines into actual separation points so you don't have to permanently seal your inner frame?
>>
>>24056582

Only if you're in Japan and it somehow goes the way of Kyokai Senki. If anything, the prices will keep going up due to tariffs and Iran.
