In hindsight, I should have tried to become an actor. Literature is just too powerful. I remember when I began to read serious novels and poetry, the effect it had on me, the power, the spirituality, the psychic earthquake. There was no turning back.
>>25617230Not too late. The actors I know, some very successful, are, mostly by choice, perpetually out of work. There is surely time to pursue it whilst doing other things.

I feel like everyone, if they live long enough, has at least one moment in their life that's overtly supernatural.I don't know how materialists cope with such moments when they arrive.
there is nothing supernatural that could occur from the sum of our parts
>>25617280Nice fantasy but most people make it though their whole life without having a schizoid mental break, and it doesn't help you to get better if you indulge in one excessively.
>>25617293is this some kind of weird projection?
>>25617230I'm never less comfortable than when I'm in a room full of actors.
>>25617280From my observations of people, it depends on the type of materialist and the character of the 'overtly supernatural' event. I also think people who are of the extreme 'rationalist', atheist bent are a lot less likely to experience anything like that because they have constricted their awareness so tightly, like obsessive compulsives who barely feel the effects of psychedelic dosing. Anyways, a lot of people write off anything like that as weird coincidence, I must be really tired, I must have ingested some chemical, I must have some neurochemical hiccup, etc.
I'm just a fat fucking Jew.
There are only the sum of your parts you fucking idiot.

Damn, first time in several years I've taken a melatonin and it didn't work. That means either I'm developing a tolerance (I'd say I've used it 5 of 7 past nights) or I'm already fully caught up on my sleep and should just stay up (which is also disturbing because it's 1:30am! I took it at 11pm).

How does a society produce conservative women? This is the most important thing a society can do, for conservative women are the foundation of it all. They raise conservative sons and daughters who will be proud of their civilization. Only the Muslims and Haredim Jews have been capable of it. Everyone else: Chinese, Koreans, Hindus, Europeans, Americans? The women are liberal and leftist, and these societies decay as a result.
>>25617541I've taken a melatonin every night for like ten years now and it still works. I do have trouble sleeping if I don't take it, so I think my body has gotten lazy with making it's own melatonin like it's supposed to but if I abstained for a couple weeks it would start up again. You can very easily power though a melatonin. I take mine about 30 minutes before I want to be asleep and make sure my eyes are closed and I'm laying flat and all the normal shit when that 30 minutes comes to bear. I find that if I miss my window taking a second one does nothing that night, so I try to hit it right. Anyway what I'm saying is that probably the melatonin is still working fine for you it's just some nights you can blow through it. It's a fairly mild drug and there's variation in how up your brain wants to be.
I don't have family or money and will probably live in a car soon. I was raised to be an abject white trash retard and a bachelors would never be in the cards. This year though I took a creative writing class at a community college. Just last week the professor literally pulled me out of class and told me I was the best writer he's ever had.I have no idea what a smart person even is. Does that mean I'm just the least retarded, or would I do well at a university too? I guess no one can tell me but him. I'm not sure how I'd ask him that question.
>>25617527Very unlikely. The standards for most buildings get them though at least minor earthquakes. The stress on your building from a big gust of wind is probably many times what it's suffering from the construction. Buildings are made out of different materials that are attached to each other in many places so it's basically impossible to get some kind of harmonic oscillation going. Etc.

What kind of people drink coffee in PM? When I go to office and back my way lays through this coffee shop, and there are still some people having drinks. WTF, how don’t they concerned about their sleeping schedule?
>>25618101I want you, weird lil creature!
>>25618115Being smart isn't terribly important for being a good writer. Some people have a knack for it by chance, all good writers read a lot. It's more like making music than doing architecture. Everyone can succeed at pretty much any undergraduate program in a university. Where people fail is they don't work hard at it (I never had to work to get an A in high school, you can't keep doing that in university, you'll fail) or else they skip the introductory classes when they actually need them and go too far into the deep end too early (matters for some types of classes, like math or physics, than it does others). If you take a conservative speech approach to class selection, diligently do all of the reading and homework you are assigned (do not use AI or look up homework questions online, actually do them yourself), and visit your professors during office hours for advice on academic things you are finding difficult you should be able to get a 3.9 GPA at any school in any discipline.Sometimes by graduate school the material is difficult enough that not having a good enough brain can become a major burden. Sometimes people love math but have to become lawyers. But there are a lot of lawyers with an undergrad math degree. And not everyone can hack it in law, maybe they are better suited to education or some kind of public administration or tech or whatever. But for undergrad everyone can hack it if they have an adult work ethic and are proactive about seeking help when they need it.
>>25618127If you drink more than one cup a day it can stop having an effect on you at all. I do one cup in the morning mostly because it makes me fire out a shit before I have to leave my bidet having house but can feel the coffee. In college I was drinking it so often that I would very often have one to try to help me push though some reading at night and I would fall asleep on the desk with the empty mug still warm next to my head. I don't know what the mechanism is for that level of caffeine resistance but I expect a lot of the population has it.
>>25618155That's the thing, I have an awful work ethic. I genuinely would need years of therapy to be useful enough to go to college. I've lived in my car on and off partially by choice because I think my welding job is worse than homelessness. But maybe academic things are easier.I'm in class with a lot of intellectually disabled people. Community college creative writing is where their parents send them as a last ditch effort to prove their kid is capable, but they never really are. Reading their shit is like pulling teeth. But at the same time I realize I'm the same kind of person as them. I simply couldn't function from highschool onwards. Also I showed a friend with a master's degree an essay I wrote once and she got so fucking mad at how bad it was she accused me of being the reason anti-intellectualism exists. So. That might've traumatized me.
>>25618171>she got so fucking mad at how bad it was she accused me of being the reason anti-intellectualism exists
>>25617207writing is so alluring, when I do it, a great feeling flows through me. it's cathartic in it's own way. unfortunately, everything I write is complete dogshit
>>25618182I must say my expertise is creative writing and not academic essay-ing.
>>25618171Anyone who has worked an adult job for a couple years has a big advantage vs most of the 18 year olds in their introductory classes. Especially today. Even a lot of students who have only As and Bs coming into freshman year of college now expect: Infinite retake options for a test, their teacher to track and ensure they are doing their homework, infinite time to do that homework / redo it / have it graded again for full credit, extra time to take their tests if they feel sad about it, that if they express they are having a hard time that is enough to raise their grade without any change in performance. It's ok to come into your intro classes with a bad ability to write, not being used to reading difficult texts, not knowing how to research and meaningfully assemble that info. It's not ideal and it says something about the the education you got prior to university, but unless you're going to a top flight uni in your country (I'm guessing you're Canadian so like literally McGill) the intro classes are constructed to fix these issues and onboard lower level students (as well as to hopefully offer something worthwhile to strong students, however in practice when you get a valedictorian type student at a lower level uni they just talk to their advisor and to the professor for the 201 level class and skip the 101 level classes that they actually don't need). What I'm saying is you can go to university and do fine. There's like a 5% chance you're still too stupid, as an adult with a real job and actual interest in succeeding in a university, that you're still too stupid to make it. You're making legibile posts with paragraphs, actually, so that chance is more like 2.5% or something.
just took a shitfeels really good
>>25618171Do you actually want to write? If your professor went out of his way to encourage you like that, I bet he would be willing to help you seriously develop whatever talent you have. Just put aside all your thoughts about how shitty you and your classmates are and go for it. I missed so many opportunities like that when I was in high school and college, I could have become a serious woodworker or writer, but I always backed out because I had determined that I was just a pot-smoking videogame nothing
>>25618194Damn this made me feel a twinge of hope. I'm not Canadian, but that's really funny you think that. Do Canadians live in their cars a lot or something?Right now I'm just focusing on being a functioning human being. The work ethic issue is probably more of a severe depression issue. If I can save myself I might try to do something better with my life. I'd like a master's degree. Being a professor sounds fun. I won't forget my retard friends...
>>25618201Ok yeah this just slapped me across the face. You're right. I love writing. Its the only thing I can do.
>>25618191A lot of people who think they're good at academic writing are actually incarnations of the god of Midwittery. They basically were handed a boilerplate way to do it and think anyone who hasn't received those instructions yet is beneath them. I was creative writing focused for my first degree and got a lot of pushback in my lit crit type classes for my academic writing because I was constantly trying to innovate around what I knew was expected of me. Eventually I decided to not waste so much effort on trying to make my essays into rewarding reads and to just give what was expected and overnight I was suddenly an academic writing genius as far as my professors were concerned. Maybe my academic articles were actually really bad and I needed to be reigned in and that was the lesson, but the feedback I got wasn't along those lines, it was just that my writing was bad. I expected guidance in improving what I was trying to do, more like I got in creative writing workshops, but what I was told was "don't try" and once I didn't try my academic readers were a lot more comfortable. So I figured out how to do academic writing that was well received, but never really figured out how to do academic writing that was the kind I liked to read. And I don't really value academic / critical writing enough to dig back in and figure it out. Maybe some day, but I'm fairly old now and have a non-academic job to survive on so it's unlikely I'll ever have that much spare time to throw away on secondary projects of that sort again.
>>25618220>A lot of people who think they're good at academic writing are actually incarnations of the god of Midwittery. They basically were handed a boilerplate way to do it and think anyone who hasn't received those instructions yet is beneath them.YEAH. I agree there was a lot wrong with that essay but her big gripe was that I was writing about a comedy film and I had inserted jokes in the essay instead of keeping it textbook and formulaic. That really pissed me off honestly. It seemed like such a given that I'd lighten the tone and goof off a little when the literal topic in question was comedy.

>>25618202If you want to be a professor in 2026 you need a PhD. It's also really important to not be a white male. I'm a left leaning person but I have more than a small amount of direct experience with how hiring works for tenure tracked professor work (you don't want to be hopping from school to school every two years your whole life making dogshit money, have to seek a tenure track position) and being white and male is such a huge handicap that its just a matter of practicality to strongly consider non academic work if you are. It's already very competitive, any disadvantage can become too much. Over and over again everyone on the hiring committee puts in their recommendation for the most qualified and experienced guy who has a cool sample lesson and some pretty good publications and then the department head goes and talks to admin and comes back with a big smile saying "Wow team we're going to be so fortunate to welcome J'ayquona Shaniquell Jones to our department next semester! At the risk of being the most vain poster on the board, I'm actually an incredibly talented and interesting but also fairly solipsistic and somehow cut off from the desire to participate in any form of large crowd or audience, even online. Perhaps it's childish but I don't really trust the public's ability to be a friend or someone you would want to have around (not that I don't have people I'm perfectly close to in my own life). I was thinking of developing a very surrealist anonymous identity that would directly tie into the surrealist expression intended in my work. I don't know, it's not so much that I hate people or actively am averse to them, it's that I kind of don't have that major source of motivation that belongs there, that I imagine drives most people who are, you know, expressive figures. I'm not extroverted like that, except when I am by accidentIn a lot of ways I'm simply scared to a level of disinterest, of getting out there

And that chief of staff went public with that explaining he denied the order because it would’ve been absolutely horrible for Israel at the time and there was no strategic value, and that he suspects Netanyahu ordered it to drum up support for the election. So Netanyahu is facing a massive scandal and kind of a whistleblowing from his top military executive going into this election. I’m not sure where his legal status is right now, but I imagine if he doesn’t win the election he will be in jail, which will be really funny.

The doors are shut and locked and I knock on them as loud as I can, so that I do not freeze to death. But everyone is for themselves and it’s my fault for I have become undead, trying to release and forgive while holding onto what still needed comfort. I cannot explain how painful it is to be that alone. My eyes saw saw truth, and doubted and looked, and my chest is heaving for room to just be. Why have I and my life become painfully aware of my own inevitable decay at every break of dawn. I want my reality to break apart, to let me finally see and move, one way or another.
>>25618991A lot of the time what people think are fruit flies are what's known as fungus gnats. Fungus gnats feed in larval form on fungus that grows in the pots of house plants. They will tell you online that they come from over watering but even if you are careful not to if you have fungus gnats in your potting soil they are difficult to get rid of. If you look on the top of your house plants you can see the larva crawling around usually, they are tiny white dots so you have to look closely for a while. To kill them you have to buy a bacterial agent (bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, usually abbreviated to BTI) and apply it in the water you use to water the plant about once a week. I had to apply it at triple the suggested concentration before I got results. Some states also restrict it to commercial growers only. Fungus gnats are a constant issue in greenhouses and one they're in your house they'll spread to all your potted plants pretty quickly.
>>25619198Interesting, thanks.
>>25619200I have some very bad sentences in there. The larva slowly march around on top of the soil, not on top of the plants. They live in the first couple inches so if you have a lot of them people will sometimes throw that soil out and replace with fresh and then start with BTI because you won't be able to get the soil out of the root ball very well.
>>25619222Well, we have hella houseplants around the house, both inside and out, and I can't exactly tell the homeowners to just throw all the soil out. Guess I'll just have to learn to live with it and keep food out of my room.

As planned, just took my once-a-week shit on day 7. Such relief. Beyond that, it makes me happy knowing I don't gotta worry about it for another 7-8 days. It's crazy how much comes out of me, I have to flush several times to not only make sure it doesn't clog, but to make sure it doesn't overflow the bowl lol, there's legitimately enough in total to do that. The first piece that comes out is generally over a foot long! I should take pictures. Probably win me a world record or get on the news.
It's baffling how much easier it is to destroy something than it is to create and maintain. You have an aristocratic family that's been protecting its bloodline and genes for generations and generations, centuries and centuries, and all it takes is one set of kids, one daughter or one son or both, to go, "this good genes stuff is stupid, I'll sleep with and have kids with whoever I want, especially if it makes my parents unhappy" and poof, just like that, it's over. To recover from this one act, it'd take several generations of perfect breeding to purge out the inferior stuff.

Oh and Portland wouldn't have the same negative impact from legalization if the whole country was legalized. Theres a weird streak in the left where they deny that drug users absolutely do travel to locations that have better policies and more support for them. So basically anyone asking i5 that wants to do a year of rest and relaxation on fent is going to bang right up there and get started. So now Portland is carrying way more than its fair share. I mean, it was before legalization anyway, but legalization just amplified it. A ton of the problems American cities have come about because they're the only places with any sense of responsibility and end up taking care of all the cast outs from the vicious little hick towns that surround them.Same issue in Portugal. If it was just the Portuguese the policy change would have been an immense slam dunk. But they're a part of the EU and became a destination for a lot of people who were only bringing negatives in with them.
>>25619568I don't mind drug users living here. I mind drug users smoking up in public without a care in the world. Granted, they did the change the laws, so that only really happens at night now, but still. It's just best if you push drug use indoors or at least in some secluded space, y'know?

>>25619571Housing is too expensive to fix that issue, IMHO, and you have to distribute your junkies throughout your city or else you can really fuck the place up so the immediate notion of "we'll just build a big drug apartment by the bus lines and put them all in there" ends up being a disaster every time.Very difficult to fix it as things are now. If all of these little building bullshit towns had a house or two in them that housed eight homeless and or drug addicted people in it it would go a really long way to every city having to build some colossal facility and essentially discard a big chunk of that economically and maybe culturally important place for the sake of some hick not having to live next to a house that has more than one car parked in front of it.

How about this: a novel or TV show where the good guys are also racist and the bad guys are not. Racism has nothing to do with the plot, it's just revealed in their conversations and actions throughout the story.
>>25619806Oooh, make them righteous Reddit lefties that reveal themselves as racists while attacking people for being not up to standard.
>>25619812Well, more so that being moral and righteous is complicated, and humans are complex. Just because someone is racist doesn't mean they're evil, and vice versa. Fiction (including movies and TV shows) always take the easy route of making the evil villain also racist, and the good guys the paragon of diversity. Here, we flip that. The main character is good in almost everyway, except he harbors prejudiced, racist views. The antagonist is immoral in almost everyway, except they think racism is silly, and they donate to causes promoting diversity and the like, because what do they care if the city is flooded with foreigners, they have enough money to insulate themselves anyway, or they don't care who they scam, or whatever the case may be.

>>25620757i NEED that cat
>>25620754Works for me, man. I’m something of a straight queer humorist myself. Drawing is fucking fun though I have always understood that.
>>25620771>Drawing is fucking fun thoughI agree. You're ACTUALLY talented, though, keep it up.
>>25620785Thanks man, a lot! Been spending quite some time how to organize this into a story or project though. Any loose ideas?
>>25620795NEED that florida belt
>>25620802Designed as a character who is sort of a ronin wrestler-idiot who owns his own one-man towing company and he lives out of his big USA-and-Jesus-wripped towing vehicle and he has the cross-shaped towing apparatus on the back of his truck painted like it's a cross and he's chasing the idiot MC across Florida trying to get money back for the damage he did to his vehicle's side mirror so he can afford a lawyer to appeal his case where he lost custody of his son because of a misfiring accident during visitation regarding his flagrantly unlocked firearm
>>25620795Gives me mid 2000s Donald Duck comic vibes, which is by no means a bad thing. Only thing missing would be a dog nose.
>>25620833Oh yeah! I know what you mean. Damn, I grew up on that. Launchpad type of mouth. Thank you for seeing so
>>25620842Really good stuff you're making.
>>25620848Need to either put my thoughts together and create a longform narrative by which I can keep drawing, or just give up my so-called introversion and draw daily whatever on X or whichever app has people for it
>>25620854Form a narrative and post it on X.
>>25620861Are they as bad as people say? I know I'm being childish here, but I've been scared of twitter since it came out when I was like 14 or some shit. I pick anonymous for a reason, you understand. People find people there?
>>25620865>People find people there? If the algorithm feels benevolent, yes. >Are they as bad as people say?The userbase is a mix of Tumblr, Discord, and here.
>>25620885Alright thanks for the intel man I gotta develop some sort of shifty persona some type of character or avatar I can be that's a real surrealist guy
>>25620890You can do it.
>>25619838>>25619838it's the most basic propaganda in the world up there with>cool bro/hot sis smokes cigarettesor>pop star drinks diet sodathey're both incidental but that's how they move product
>see dogshit story>call it dogshit (but nicely)"I love this review. Thank you."WAS IT THAT FUCKING HARD!God damn, so many amateur writers are so uptight about their story. You're not Shakespear, you're not Stephin King. I'm not even sure if you even read!
>>25622407you’re similarly uptight about your own ‘work’. do you see? why is it important to you that your review is well-received? (i’ll answer:) for similar reasons that the writer is uptight about his writing. how do you know you haven’t left a bad review?writing criticism, for a lot of people (at the amateur level), is just a way of writing that leaves you less vulnerable.
