why use a heavy spring for a long slide in 9mm? Is that too much resistance? Why not get a metal spring guide if the spring is to much for the plastic one?

I think nowadays it is. The Glock 19 has been dominant for so long that OTC 9mm cartridges are basically designed around it. I've seen the argument for the Glock 45 being a popular duty weapon is it's essentially a Glock 17 but due to the shorter length of the barrel it's better for cops who sit in a car or at a desk all day.

I still kind of want a Glock 49 since the smaller grip is better for CC and you don't really care about barrel length

The argument I’ve heard for the 45 over the 17 is draw speed. I don’t know any departments in my state using the 19 or 17. Everyone seems to be using the 45 with a light and night sights minimum.
    >>
    >>65622368
    >why
The lockup is too weak with 17 pounds which I suspect was chosen by the factory because law enforcement uses ultrasoft loads like Gold Dot, Critical Duty, et c.
    >too much resistance?
Not in my experience. I had already been using a 20-pounder that works fine with carry and range ammo but it's starting to feel like the original after a year of live and dry fire.

The real question is: how do the bullets know where to go? Yeah, the gun has sights but the cartridge can't see it from inside the barrel.

Yeah, most departments near me rock the 45 as well. I have also heard the "draw speed" excuse but I think it's just copium and they wanted to "upgrade"

If everything is working properly, the slide or bolt or whatever should be far enough forward to keep the rounds in place. If you look at your slide after shooting, you'll notice it's has a brass skid mark on it... if you're shooting brass cased ammo.

"Sticky" slide, unburnt powder spewing from the breech and horrific primer drag as you can see by the spent cartridges with which my Glock left the factory. The ones on the right don't look as bad but two thirds of the symptoms is enough for me to replace the spring.

The gx4 is actually pretty damn good especially for $200-225, but the tx22 being $399 is crazy. They are probably the best 22lr pistol out atm without spending over a grand but realistically its all demand from the FRT and chasis market. Speaking of chasis I would seriously reccomend the Titan Precision Works chasis. It's been phenomenal for me and is also one of the cheapest designs despite coming with a free FRT ect in the package. Really great customer service as well, I have been nothing but impressed with them.

I ordered 2 of Titan Precision Works extended mag kits when I got the chasis to try them out. Then UPS "lost" the package with the FRT and chasis and mag kits in it. I contacted them and they didn't just send me a new package with everything for free they also offered to include another mag kit. I offer to buy 2 more mag kits as a thank you for sending me a new chasis free of charge and covering the new shipping cost for me. Then about two months later the first chasis shows up with those mag kits in it. I guess UPS "found" the package

Ruger is discontinuing a lot of their revolvers and is going to revamp many of them so if you're willing to wait they may soon make a better version on newer tooling with less QC hiccups. Of course its a dice roll, new ones may have MORE qc hiccups but it may be worth the risk to you.

If you just want the classic style the revolver guy I know says to get one made awhile ago because they used to make em better, so getting a older used one could actually not just save you money but also be a straight up upgrade in quality.

Tl;dr get a past or future blackhawk if you buy one
    >>
    >>65622941

Ruger revolvers were hands down yhe least problematic revolvers you could buy the last 5 years other than $4,000+ kortths and custom revolvers. S&W, Colt, taurus, rossi, charter arms, NAA, heritage, the cheap European revolvers, and kimber all have worse QC and generally shittier performing revolvers.

    >>65622986
There's a chance they may switch from cast to billet/forged parts, but unlikely.
Instead what they will do is randomly release small batches like their No.1s, and Jack up the price, so a $700 sp101 will be like $1000 new, but because if the limited availability assholes will buy them up fast and flip them on gunbroker for $1500+
    >>
    >>65622991
S&W has never made a revolver other than an x frame that can handle modern 45 colt.
Ruger where the only ones doing it.
    >>
    >>65623004
And how did that work out for them? Not so good I hear
    >>
    >>65623010
They had pretty much gotten rid of their 45 colt offerings anyways.
But 45 colt standard pressure is a 250gr bullet @~800fps, while proper revolvers can handle loads surpassing hot 44 mag.
Revolvers aren't a money maker anyways. S&W is floating on the M&P, and ruger is making its money from what they kept in production.
It wouldn't be surprising to see S&W cut a lot if not all their revolver production within 10 years, I assume their recent push of revolver models is basically from the same reason as ruger dropping theirs, bad sales and low interest in revolvers, but S&W is doubling down and falling for the sunk cost fallacy.
The difference is if you actually wanted a revolvers, the rugers were cheaper, stronger, better, and had far less QC issues than S&W.
But hey go spend $1200 on a ugly guns that can only handle low pressure 45 colt and 45 acp, with a 13lb DA and a 6lb SA trigger, with a high chance of timing issue and a complete lack of trigger reset ability, then you can spend a year and a half dealing with their infamously bad customer service to get the thing shooting. All for you to keep it in a safe 99.9% of the time.

Surprisingly Taurus actually makes great revolvers

My personal tinfoil hat theory is that the higher ups at Taurus only actually care about revolvers and also shit out cheap semis because they sell well.
    >>
    >>65623484
The problem with Taurus is not that they are incapable of making good guns, it's that their QC is so terrible that buying one is always a crap shoot. You might win the lottery and get a really good one, you might get total garbage. Most get something in between.

in my area it was a thing to just follow people home from the grocery store and jump them while they're unloading groceries, gaining access to your home at the same time, your CCW is what you'd have on you.

Another thing was that I think with two stolen cars is to block the road in front and behind you and then rob you and steal your car. multiple guns and you're flanked.

4 kids in a subway car is nothing compared to our modern reality. There's a ton of instances with attackers >4, it's just that often most of them disperse after the shooting starts.

The ghost trigger connectors maybe, possibly slightly lighten the trigger, but adds a ton of mush and makes the slide catch when cycling, all in all they make the gun worse, only retards keep them installed because they have no fucking clue what they're doing.
Stock glock, put a surefire or srreamlight on it, replace factory glock plastic sights with factory glock steel sights and you're g2g, anything else is retarded faggots being autistic

NTA but what's wrong with a Harbor Freight for bedside? I don't venture out after dark.

Yes. Beretta peaked in the mid to late 90s. Everything new they've made since then has been shitty, ugly, or both. They cheapened the 92s in the 2000s, ran QC into the ground in the 2010s, and won't stop trying to replace it in the 2020s with awful "updated for the modern audience" models. I hate modern Beretta for what it's done to my beloved 92.

    >front sight dovetails cut too loose so front sights go flying
    >mag release in inconsistent locations meaning the mag sits higher or lower depending on example
    >>
Beretta doesn’t even give a shit about civilians. They’re too busy making guns for their own pizza police

modern 92s have around a 7.5 pound DA and a ~3.5 pound SA stock.

modern 92s aren't that very wide either, ~1.38 or so, with the slim grips. Sorry I have man sized hands so I don't have an issue
