in tyotl 2026 c is macro asm
this is the raison d etre of c
and given its an old ass standard, but also it does its job perfectly well, whatever you will be dealing with
its gonna be either its specific asm
    or its gonna be c
bc if you work with exotic stuff
    even like a gpu
you are expected not to get confused by pointers.
    bc pointers are babby shit
the real game is what you do with em
    >>
    >>110215503
AI will produce CVEs too, you just won't be paying as much attention. From a holistic point of view it is by finding them (different type of cause) but the real problem with security these days isn't actually software vulnerabilities but how the significance of them has been inflated so significantly.

    thats the honest truth

you really need to contrive shit to get there
    >>
    >>110215569 cont
    to drive the point home:
contrive shit like somehow dereferencing null
or doing mentally handicapped shit like taking the address of the member of an union
    >>
    >>110215555
you think you're being clever because you incremented the address of a local variable? are you being serious right now?
    >>
    >>110215581
NTA, but dereferencing null (or inaccessible memory) is better than dereferencing an otherwise incorrect pointer and getting the wrong value successfully. As I meant here >>110215562 it's literally the same problem as using incorrect array indices. Null is easily solved by checking but the real problem in huge old codebases is program state that has gotten out of hand, and being both in a situation where something is expected not to be null (but somehow is) and not necessarily having a proper or correct failure state to go into.

derefing null is a problem when you code baremetal
you can skip everything by just sacrificing the byte at the address 0

this is literally babbies first experience with C. what are you going to do next? allocate a page with execute permissions, fill it with some instructions, cast it to a function and call it and tell me how dangerous this all is?

everyone knows you can do this stuff with C, this is not incriminating or dangerous information to C programmers lmao
    >>

maybe you feel frustration in my discourse
and, yes, i would rather pot program at all actually

address sanitizer exists for this purpose.
but technically this is something that ought to be a warning (but never rely on warnings), and most AI's should easily catch this UB.
Depending on your code style, a more significant form of UB is reading uninitialized memory. Asan won't catch it, you need to use valgrind memcheck (dr memory on windows) but it runs 100000x slower for any graphical application (non-graphical is like 10-50x slower). Asan runs at almost full speed. Memory sanitizer exists (on linux only) and it's faster than valgrind + catches uninitialized memory usage, but it's not compatible with any sort of graphics (unless it's a terminal UI, you still need to build every library with msan, including ncurses if you use it, which is not very easy to do unless you already cross-compile your code and libraries).
And memory sanitizer is not compatible with asan or ubsan (you can combine asan with ubsan, not a good practice but most people spend 99% of their time with 1 build target, might as well use both if your code isn't test driven). Not being able to combine is annoying since memory sanitizer doesn't check everything asan and ubsan checks for (But you also can't use asan with valgrind, so you already need to make 2 separate builds for testing uninitialized memory errors, so that's one reason C doesn't enable address sanitizer by default since it breaks valgrind, other being core dumps being 100tb large so it's disabled by default but it's annoying because core dumps are useful if an error only happens without your debugger attached...).
