Anyone make earrings here? I've been making festival gifts and I've been able to make ear plug earings with sterling silver hooks, Strong 304 stainless ball chain that is difficult for me to snap leading to silicone 3 flange ear plugs to make hearing PPE fashionable and desirable to use. I have the cost down to .51c per pair and that also includes the cost of an XXL alcohol whipe I give away with every pair.Do you make earrings?Do you make festival gifts?
>>3011298I have also been using colored chains but the chain quality is much lower and the paint risks flaking but the color sets are still nice.
>>3011298What are those? Little butt plugs or something? You kids wear some weird shit.
>>3011301That is outstandingly witty and INCREDIBLY funny. +1 internet to you my good sir and updoots.Do you actually make anything of worth or just shit up threads?
>>3011298I am making charm earings today. The bulk charm pack from amazon, 350 for $20 and 2 boxes makes a full set.
>>3011298Can you show a picture of how the finished product looks? Perhaps even when worn? I've used ear plugs in concerts, so I know what they are, but I fail to imagine what you want to accomplish. I'm interested, tho.
>>3011443I take the end of a ball chain, buying pre cut ball chains with clasp and put it into the loop space of a sterling silver earing.1/3
>>3011443>>3011449Once the earring loop end is seated around the ball chain (ball) end, the clasp end is inserted into the tube hole in the ear plug.
>>3011443>>3011449>>3011451The clasp is insterted gently but firmly until fully seated as show in the second set.I feel sterling silver hooks are the minimum as cheap 'stainless' hooks react and sterling is about $15 per 100 pair.Ball chains also must be of quality, cheap thin clasps bend and warp as well as ball bits breaking. The ones I have now are a bit long but they can be clipped as desired and strong enough I can barely break them. The plugs must be silicone and MUST have a native hole in the stem. I am a tedious person but punching holes in a silicone stem sounds like a hell chore.Im getting plugs at 500/9 color for $80, the chains are $10 per 100 pair so $50 overall, the earring hooks are a stellar $12 per 100 pair so I'm bulking up on all items into the thousands. Please feel free to ask any questions, Ill post amazon links or listing pics of deaired.
>>3011449>>3011451>>3011452Side notes,Its important to hook one chain 'over' and ine 'under' so they are balanced regardless of how they are put in.I also give away an XXL, 1.5"x2.5" pad to clean ears, hooks and plugs. The plugs I'm getting are extra good as they come with a case, otherwise you need tiny baggies.
>>3011443Took a minute but here is a set worn in, the idea being they can hang when out and not be lost. The impetus for this endeavour was me seeing a similar pair for sale for $25, with dangerous metal pins forced into a ear plug stem and ugly glue on top. Having some removable plugs on a string and using ball chains for trinkets as well as making charm earings I whipped up a few dozen with my supplies then hunted for better materials until this final design. My goal is about 400 pairs per festival, about 4 major festivals per year + shows.
100 pairs of Light/Dark pink & blue, red & yellow. I'm keeping black and white sidelined for the goth and pale grills and also have orange set aside as non earring sets for unprepared beggars.
>>3011455Neat idea m'lady. But aren't you concerned with having a big, easily catchable loop of chain hanging off your ear in a festival setting? I imagine some close proximity dancing with other schmucks wearing dangly clothing might accidentally hook into the chain and rip your earlobe in half.
>>3011477That is my wife but thank you>I will never be a womanThe silicone should easily dislodge from the ear. Likewise if one worried about such an issue they would likely bend the hooks to be strait, and remove the silicone backers so the would rip out easy (like stripper earings). Also the ball chain clasp csn be plucked from the from the plug, clipped and shortened to desired length as well. These are for adults and those with intuitive minds.>pic rel my first run with the original cordage
>>3011455Thanks for the pics, now I understand what you're making. Pretty cool idea!
My best friend makes jewelry to gift to her family and friends, according to their tastes. There are stones everywhere since she started doing itIll share some pics that are still on my phone
>>3011533Another one
>>3011535I forgot what this one was for but it looks really nice
>>3011533>>3011535>>3011538Those are really nice! The last looks like a crab pot to me. I didn't exactly intend to end up making earrings but a charm pack failed to meet expectations and turning them into earings was enjoyable.
>convert earring to clips >starts facing a different direction
>>3011298>earringsMeh. Come back when you sell nipple and clit piercings. >>3011477This. Are normie/zoomer concerts just you, standing around with ample of space around you because everyone is scared of everyone else?Back in my day, I’d come home from a concert, drenched in sweat and beer with loads of bruises from “dancing”.
>>3011606>This. Are normie/zoomer concerts just you, standing around with ample of space around you because everyone is scared of everyone else?Stop projecting faggot we can all tell you have never been outside a day of your life.Women knowingly carry the risk when wearing earrings like OP makes, have u never seen a woman wear those big circle earrings? Those are practically the same risk yet they wear them out because they like the aesthetic or whatever.I know you have never talked to a woman but you really should give it a shot once in a while
>>3011597Put them...On clips...Now THATS a fuckin idea.
>>3011606Not for sale, always free.>crafting janny does it for freeNipple ones would have long chains, too long unless a desired fetish, But I'd make em for you <3
Today I made colored mushroom sets!
>>3011607I have both standard 'fish hook' style and longer french style sometimes called 'whores earrings' that typically dont have backs and slide put of the ear more easily especially when straitened.
>>3011607>Women knowingly carry the risk when wearing earrings like OP makes, have u never seen a woman wear those big circle earrings? Those women aren't usually wearing those in a clubbing/festival setting. You're a shutin fag if you've never seen a woman take off her big dangly earrings before going out on the dance floor.
>>3011636Never been around women, huh?
Pretty cool, OP. Lately my wife has been getting interested in making things. She has some materials to make some earrings and bracelets. What's a good brand of tools for making jewelry?
>>3011693You pretty much just need a variety of pliers, I don't think the brand is going to matter for thatOh and and fingers that aren't too big, it helps
>>3011693Unfortunately I'm using Amazon bonuses that came with some previous order. However I will say one needs a pair of small needle nose pliers and a set of the rounded tine needle nose pliers, when it comes to making earings anyway.
>>3011712I have very large hands that can palm a basketball. What matters most is desire and effort.
>>3011455I like the idea actually. That being said, currently they feel a little more like a statement peace or functional than jewelry.I think if you want to make it actually cool you'd have to find some way to make them more fashionable/look nicer. This >>3011612 for example is going into the right direction for sure. Color matched and with a little bit more style. That being said these still remind me more of what a young girl would wear rather than something more stylish an adult might.Note that I'm a guy (and not one with much of a fashion sense) so I don't have much of a feel for jewelry, but I think a way in which you could maybe lower the visual weight/impact of the functional part is either to hide it (which you don't seem to want, the statement it makes seems to be part of the goal), or to balance it a little. The only thing I came up with is to make it so the plug itself more balanced is by having a larger round earring similar to the ones in >>3011535 or >>3011538 where the plug is in the center. That way it still is the part your attention is drawn to, but you have more stuff around it to balance it out. That outer ring gives you more options for decor and you could make the chain attach to the back of the ring somehow so you still have that reach to put it into the ears without needing to take them off. You could either make something more attention drawing with little gemstones etc, or something that hides it more that way.The current iteration looks pretty nice when used like >>3011455 but less so when not (also wouldn't that dangle onto your shoulders with how long the chain is?).Of course feel free to ignore my thoughts, just felt like sharing.
>>3011298>Anyone make earrings here?jewelry is for financially insecure people posing as rich.
>>3011731Its functional PPE, not deliberately a fashion statement. Its to make the PPE more accessible.
>>3011728The ear plug earrings I make I give away for free at festivals. The ball chain clasp cam be removed from the plug, the chain clipped to desired length and then reassembled. They aren't intended to be used outside of a venue.
>>3011763Ah okay, I misunderstood then.So it's a lot less about fashion and more about helping people protect their hearing. That also explains why you put so much effort into lowering the cost. That makes it a lot cooler, a lot of people at festivals don't pay nearly as much attention to hearing protection as they should and I have two festival goer friends who have tinnitus because they didn't protect their hearing.
>>3011773I'm in my early 30's and I always took the PPE shit seriously. My knees feel great, back is fine. One shoulder injury that haunts me but I manage it. I want to bith gice a gift and subtly encourage others to protect themselves.
>>3011775I was in the Army for a couple of years back in the aughts. EVERYTHING has a label on it about hearing protection. Their fucking stoves are loud. Some of them say you need two layers of hearing protection (ear plugs and earmuffs). They make you carry around an earplug case at all times. Does that mean they put mufflers on stuff? Fucking NO. Loudest vehicle I ever heard was an M88A2 recovery vehicle flooring it to pull an Abrams out of a collapsed shit trench in Iraq. They are what you get when an M60 tank gets drunk and fucks a Jagdpanther but the offspring wants to be a mechanic, not a grunt.I've got the ADHD so I don't like loud noises. I used my earpro. All my hardcore infantry friends? They have tinnitus now. Simple hearing loss if they are lucky. To be fair, they shot guns a lot more than I did. I serviced radios so mostly I was the mook they put on radio duty so a real soldier could go out and get shot at. Another 20 years and they'll all probably be deaf. My knees and feet are fucked but my hearing is still good.Protip, were you in the military and your feet are fucked? You can get 10% disability for that now. That gets you a tiny bit of money every month and hiring preferences for state and federal jobs (more than just a standard vet preference). They also get your free inserts and shoes. Talk to your local VA.
>>3011693>What's a good brand of tools for making jewelry?I just used inexpensive generic chinese pliers, filed/ground/otherwise-modified to what shape I needed to grip
>>3011298i like earrings but I hate "fashion" ones. i only wear titanium or better metals and only 16 gauge thread less labret jewellery, so its pretty difficult to diy. hooks give your ears the Swiss cheese effect and butterfly clasps are disgusting and the wrong gauge
>>3011780Hello fellow ZOGbot, I was 91B spent a few months in AFG 2011. I was always a user of PPE before but the army really cemented it for me. Don't do the work a tool can do, don't take abuse a tool was meant to. Maintaining good weapon quals I ran a 249 and also mounted a Ma duce when in a MRAP and from there always wore 2 layer ear pro and my hearing is great. I've attempted to get VA assistance, When I had cancer I had a vet DR who was certain ge was going to get them all straightened out and the paperwork boiled down to me having to explain exactly when, where and how the army gave me csncer otherwise fuck off so I haven't been able to get anything from them. My feet are fucked but more as I have foot issues and from that I maintain very strong feet and posture, I'm currently obsessed with the Vibram toe shoes.
>>3011785I have a small pile of Titanium hooks, I plan to aquire more but at about $1 a hook they are reserved for my wife and specialized gifts. Buy up any and all Titanium you can before the Indo-Pacific Conflict kicks off.

>>3011827Yggdrasil?I'm not seeing it. No sun/moon in midgaurd, no roots into hellheim. Maybe an esoteric representation if explicitly intended as so but I'm not seeing it.
>>3011830you don't see a tree in a circle?the sun/moon depiction is a relatively recent addition and often not included in any historical references... my mom is a pagan, used to wear shirt like this all the time, although she toned it down a lot when me and my brother reached puberty
>>3011780that tank is so fast it has a spoiler on the front...
>>3011830>celtic>Yggdrasil Bruh>>3011831That's definitely supposed to be a tree but there isn't anything deeper than thatThough she likes to look at ancient jewellery for inspiration so maybe that explains the similarity if it's a common Celtic symbol t. >>3011538
>>3011863Well if you new what the fuck you were talking about others wouldnt have to guess.
Today I have made glowing mushroom earrings!!! I worey about the plastic and what exactly makes them glow but they should hang from the body, not on it.
>>3011298nice landfill you make there
>>3011302not him, but you are making garbageyou buy trinkets from China and assemble them into garbage
>>3011830>Yggdrasilisn't Yggdrasil Nordic, tho
