I have 56 cans of monster energy. I would like to create some kind of costume for Halloween out of these cans. I'm going to cut them and flatten so they'll become flat aluminum sheets. My first idea was to make some kind of knight armour, but then i realised that cans are too thin to hold on structurally. And so I'm asking for an advice on how to make either some kind of a frame and then glue these monster sheets onto or some other way you have in mind to decorate a costume. The direction i wanna go into is historically "accurate" armour or some fantasy knight armour. There aren't many YouTube guides regarding aluminium cans decorative usage therefore I'm asking here.
I have some basic instruments such as scissors, knife, wooden desk, soldering(idk why would i need that) etc at my disposal. Can buy some other if needed. TIA!

heavy cloth, like an old pair of jeans, would be enough. You can use old solid copper house wiring for structure around the edge of the fabric, maybe sew it in place with dental floss before attaching the aluminum. As far as attaching the aluminumn to the fabric, maybe staples? You'd need a heavy duty stapler. Also if you don't bend the sharp edges of each can over before attaching it you're going to cut the shit out of yourself or someone else.

Stapler is a good idea as well as bending edges. I was also thinking about making it like a fish scales if you understand what i mean.
    >>
Theres a lot of tutorials on youtube to make cardboard armour. you could glue the aluminum onto it
    >>

I'm not really into cardboard, as it's too flimsy. I'd stick to the advice above.

I investigated slightly further into armour science and concluded that it would be the best to make scale armour. I'll cut aluminium sheets into equal pieces and then either will tie them onto leather jacked with authentic tying technique or will reinforce them with something (idk what yet) and tie them to each other forming a lamellar armour. I'll use aluminium pieces inside out so they create smooth equal silvery look with some colorful ones for decorative purposes. That's the plan.
    >>
This is the model which I'm using as a reference. Not sure what's better. To use colourful outside of aluminum sheets or plain silvery inside. I have 18 purple cans, 2 pink, 4 purple-white, 6 light blue, 14 white and 12 mixed colours cans. I guess some should be used with colourful side and some with silvery.

You won't have enough time to finish it before Halloween if you do the scales of this size.
    >>
    >>3009530
Well, Halloween is in a month, I'm sure I'll be able to cut 300-400 tiles
    >>
    >>3009580
Yes, so you will end up with 300-400 cut tiles when you needed a suit.
    >>
    >>3009580
Do one scale and try to lay it out so they will nest nicely on the sheets and there is less waste. Even better if you can make it so the edge of one scale becomes the edge of the next scale so only one cut between them is necessary. Get yourself some 12" scissors. They will handle cutting it effortlessly.

When attaching them to your coat start at the bottom and overlap them like shingles working your way across each row before continuing upwards. on

I almost think you could get some carpet tacks and hammer them through your sheet, through the coat, and into a hard steel block with a divot in it (doming block of sorts) that bends the pointy end of the tack over like a staple. This will essentially rivet/staple them in place with no extra steps necessary for punching holes through the sheet or coat before fastening.

i can only wonder how fat you are

I knew a couple who would display their empty liquor bottles along their walls, like a couple bottles. I had concluded they must have drained a little over two liters of alcohol a week to achieve that.

I don't get it. Empty alcohol bottles or monster cans, it doesn't matter: it's tacky and shows how they have no imagination for interior design, but most importantly unashamedly displays the poor decisions they make.

    Trailer trash.

    Double wide.

Hoping you haven't started already: make a shield. Much easier than armour. A circle of thin board, couple of ribs on the back, grip in the centre. Glue or staple flattened cans to outside, use a metal bow for a central "boss."
Couple with a plastic sword and breastplate (glue more can tiles to this if desired) and a cloak.
    Ta-da: monster slayer.

I'm not looking into simplicity, rather authenticity and somewhat complexity. Thanks for an advice though!

In Finland we store empty cans because we recycle them for money. I also enjoyed having colorful wall instead of plain white. Thanks for your opinion.

    Poetry!
Thrift shops are actually good for the matter, I'll keep that in mind. Unfortunately I haven't seen any huge thrift shops here in Helsinki but I visit some from time to time. Maybe I'll manage to find something cool for Halloween

We're 5 days off. Did you make anything?
With a custom punch you could have made scales probably with a realistic workload.

Nothing is ever done around here.

    >He could have cut them out with scissors easily enough.
I mean sure, but it'd be boring.
Making a simple scale shaped punch so you only cut the cans with tin scissors until flat and then punch out a few scales is easier and more fun.
    >Nothing is ever done around here.
True. I'm working on my halloween costume as we speak, but I'm not the one who made the thread, so that further strengthens your point I suppose.
