>apply as apprentice
>learn
>be better than the competitioln
>success
trades are full of terrible contractors, it's stupid easy to stand out
show up, WANT to learn, and you will
in a few years you can do whatever you want with it
I recommend a year or two new construction then service until you feel confident to maxmimize learning potential
if you aren't a lazy sack of shit you'll get the job

>electrician was doing my parents kitchen. I was jobless and wanted to be in a trade. I asked to work for him. He didn't require anything besides to do what he said. He paid me like shit for years. Now im paid well and make bank on the side with the experience I have
>various remodeling work. Ive been running conduit solo in this condo for the last week. Boss sets the scope, with my help, and supplies all the materials and schedules things. I do most the work. job is remove all the cloth wiring and run new pipe and wires. So every room is getting re done. I finished piping today so tomorrow we're going to wire an entire condo. Its the easy part.
>probably look up apprenticeship positions on job sites.

I applied to a decent sized company that was working on a big project and needed more bodies.

>meet at site at 7am
>go through all the layers of safety bullshit
>work until 4
>work 12 hour days when there's a shutdown for stuff like plant upgrades

Like I said, I found a company working on a big project that needed bodies and was willing to sift through them. I personally don't enjoy residential work, although it's good stuff to learn. Commercial and industrial are cooler, although less applicable to every day stuff. Solar teaches you nothing, my company exiles the bad apprentices to solar before laying them off at the end of a project.

So much this. There are so many people in the trades because they are simply unemployable anywhere else. Especially 'handymen'.
