What the hell is wrong with flippers?
    Why do they do this?
    >>
    >>3006972
it's not the same house tho
    >>
    >>3006978

yes it is... google it fucktard, theres videos of the inside of the house and that is what it shows.
    >>
i counted the steps, its 13 each
    thats good enough for me
    >>
    >>3006990
so they moved the wall and the mezzanine a foot and a half closer to the stair case?
    >>
    >>3007027
The house opposite my grandad's used to be absolutely beautiful inside, had a huge open room with a sort of fireplace island thing made of ornate mahogany in the middle. Everything fancy, wood, patterned, gorgeous blue patterned carpet. Old guy died and new people moved in, turned it all into little white boxes full of ikea looking furniture. Walls can be added and moved in service of making the modern house whiter and boxier.

    Yes, it looks like so...
    >>

Imagine ruining some place like this with home cheapo shit
I hate flippers so goddamn much

Let's not pretend tiled countertops were a great thing.
I like wallpaper, but have no desire to deal with it when it gets damaged. Wrapping the entire house in one busy wallpaper is distracting. We did work on a house with silver and repeating pine tree patterns.
The hate for modernity is understandable, but a clean house allows the next owners to add as they like.
    >>
    >>3007027
I don't know how they got to the second level in the 2024. There looks to be a five stair on the right side of the 90s. The back wall would have to transition to headered arches or something.
    >>
    >>3007094
    >Let's not pretend tiled countertops were a great thing.
    They kind of were, anon.
    >>
    >>3006972
top looks like it smells of urine and jaded attitude
    >>
    >>3007094
The old house did have some charm, but honestly if they cost the same I'd take the updated version over the old any day of the week. Less busy and looks cleaner.
    >>
    >>3006972
It's a class thing. Poor people live in run down shacks that are never clean. Middle class people are therefore drawn to clean designs to distance themselves from the poor. Since nouveau riche have no taste and vastly outnumber the old money (and are far more visible) there's no point where the horseshoe bends back towards complex/busy designs.

    >>

Oh no, not the heckin wallpaperino!
    >>
    >>3006972
Gen-Z fags have an insatiable need to change things when change isn't necessary or even a good thing.
    >>
    >>3006972
The 21st is marked by a massive shift towards cowardice. Nobody dares be bold. Nobody dares to buy a red car, or bold wallpaper, or carpets. Everybody has been conditioned to temporarily live in sterile monstrosities.
    >>
    >>3007132
    >literally exactly the same except this huge massive difference!
    Oh really, you noticed?
    >>
    >>3007094
    >I like wallpaper, but have no desire to deal with it when it gets damaged
    Then don't damage your wallpaper?
    >a clean house allows the next owners to add as they like
No, it's not a "clean house" it's a ruined one. Now anyone who buys it has to spend a fortune fixing what you fucked up.
    >>3007106
    >the updated version
We call it "prison chic" around my house.
    >Less busy and looks cleaner.
picrel looks nice and clean too, doesn't it?

    >prison chic
    LOL
I didn't know this term existed. You can even buy toilet paper rolls with little help messages written on them. Zoomers are so mindbroken they want to larp as asylum residents.
    >>
    >>3007132
    And they removed the wainscoting.
    >>
    >>3006972
    >top: your smelly wine aunt's house, everything reeks of cat piss
    >bottom: soulless corpo-aesthetic house lacking any warmth
    how bout neither
    >>
    >>3006972
    >Why do they do this?
because no one wants to live in a house that looks like a brothel.
    >>
    >>3007183
    >Then don't damage your wallpaper?
You can't have kids. Go grass cloth and it will show fingerprints from the day it's installed. Paper is for accent pieces and giving a room design. Don't use it to put checkerboard patterns across an entire house.

What I've fucked up? Let's see your tile countertops and golden oak cabinets. Your belief that the 90s didn't provide some of the most heinously beige houses isn't in line with reality.
    >>
    >>3007290
    >But what if I buy cheap garbage wallpaper? Muh kids will mess it up.
Anaglypta and Lincrusta wallpaper have been around since the Victorian days. You can wash it.
You flippers are worse than termites. You can't even imagine products better than the cheapest shit sold by the cheapest big box store.
    >>
    >>3007295
Nta, but what is it with you people and wanting spaces to be this busy, excessively colorful cartoon nonsense?
    >>
    >>3007029
    >little white boxes
    >ikea looking furniture
    I hope they fucking die
    >>
    >>3006972
Given the prices in that neighborhood, doubt this is a flip. Sometimes people just have shitty taste.
    >>
    >>3006972
    Much better now
    >>
    >>3007295
I don't flip and I'm not sure what gives the impression that this is even good timing to be flipping. You sound like the carpenter that posts the same arch every week.

The cheapest shit or imported hand-painted, wallpaper isn't the easiest to put up and it can get completely fucked up if hung incorrectly.

Seems stupid to modify the ceiling for no reason
I wonder why they did it?
    >>
    >>3006972
Every boomer I know remodeled their house, me and my neighbor kept our childhood homes as close to original as possible with the exception of replacing wiring and bathroom out of necessity to avoid mold or whatever maintenance issues come down the line. It's always women who want to remodel everything, then some years later they regret it if they don't sell, because of nostalgia. I just wish I'd taken more pictures for future restoration.
    >>
    >>3008281

Bottom house looks much cleaner and looks easier to keep clean
Other than that, i don't really have a problem with upper aestheic except the fact that that kind of decor is a magnet for dust, grime and grease
    >>
    >>3008356
It is not the same width.
    >>
    >>3006972
Here's my problem with the top - the wallpaper is loud and the home feels smaller. Putting some colorful art up is going to be drowned out.

I prefer the bottom version, but after I'm through with it it would have extremely bright art pieces scattered throughout. It won't be soulless.

That's how my current home looks - I muted the living areas to highlight the color, and I do not particularly like crowded decor.

    I'm gen x.

Anons itt bitching about tiled countertops, wallpaper, boomer housing construction quality, etc...

The value in this home was entirely it's pop culture history which is now destroyed irreversibly, this was AMERICANA and could charge a premium price because of that alone, I seriously doubt these flippers will be able to break even, I would like to see the looks on their faces when they have to either sell at a loss or actually live in it the rest of their lives.

Ah, so no value at all was lost.
    >>
    >>3009061
It's not flat. They smoothed out the hard angle. You can see it in >>3008356 but it's also visible from the shadows cast on your own pic.
    >>
    >>3009188
There's a difference between bitching and celebrating every design detail. By 2030 you're going to be living in a 3,000/month democratic commie block, so why would you care? 1 br 1 bath open concept is good enough for your vr activities.

Millennial monochrome is tasteless, but every era before it is not inspiring.
    >>
    >>3009212
    >nothing in all of human history is inspiring
You know fuck all about human history, you're not special, you're just a literal bitch.
    Grow the fuck up.
    >>
    >>3009207
It looks like they moved the walls on the right and the mezzanine towards the left, just like >>3007027 said.
    >>
    >>3009229
    No! stop tearing that down!

    >>3009251
If they scrape off the lead paint or abate the insulation it won't be original.
    >>
    >>3008357
    EASIER?? EASIER TO KEEP CLEAN?????
YOU TOUCH *ANYTHING* IN THAT WHITE HELLSCAPE OF A HOUSE AND IT WILL BE STAINED FOREVER
    >>
    don't ask why ask how
    >>
    >>3010009
Why would you touch the walls? Are you some sort of savage?
    >>
    >>3010101
have you never grabbed the edge of a wall moving from room to room? or leaned on a wall? or dropped an object against a wall?
or, worst of all, had kids in the house?
    >>
    >>3011064
    >have you never grabbed the edge of a wall moving from room to room? or leaned on a wall? or dropped an object against a wall?
    >or, worst of all, had kids in the house?

Yes, but I try to not make it a habit.
    >>
    >>3011080
    >the house will stay clean if we just never ever touch anything
    You're a real prize.
    >>
    >>3011193
Any house is like that bud. Not just the white walled ones. Do you make it a regular habit to grab wall edges, lean on walls, drop objects against walls or squirt your kids on the wall? Sounds like you're the real problem here...

You do know you can scrub and clean your walls and re-paint from time to time right? Just because someone touches it once doesn't mean the entire house is ruined and has to be torn down to the foundation and rebuilt you fucking tard...

Be sure to carpet your bathroom. It will camouflage the shit and piss you get all over it so you will hardly even know its there.

I'm slacking on millennial stuff. I've got a bright blue sunroom with brown floors, a green living room with regular looking hardwood floors, a wood panel guest bedroom with regular looking hardwood floors, a dark blue regular bedroom also regular looking hardwood floors, patterned wallpaper in my kitchen and the hallway to the bathroom both with saltillo tiles, a light green and orange bathroom with white tile, a room right in front of the back door that is painted "unmellow yellow" since my wife thought it was funny, and a laundry room with white paint that shares a floor with the little entry for the backdoor with the floor being some 1970s linoleum. My couch is red, my kitchen counter is butcher block, my appliances and cupboard trims are red, my table's just wood, I don't have any rugs, my cat's a tuxedo cat and the cat tree is grassy looking. Though
    >>3011196
    >Be sure to carpet your bathroom
My house used to have this shitty, thin outdoors carpet in the bathroom and kitchen since I inherited the place from my grandpa and my grandma only had one arm so she preferred to use a vacuum cleaner over a broom and mop so the whole house had carpets when I first got it.
In the end, I probably have no taste but my wife is happy with the house now so that's something I guess. Also the outside of the house is a light green as well.
    >>
    >>3012755
The secret to millennial grey is to see color where there isn't any. Most sane people would look at my walls and see light grey, but they are purple.
