Anyone have any experience with this saw? Seems like a good saw for DIY home use.

isn't skill just pajeet tier chink trash? just buy the dewalt 12 inch like everyone else and call it a day.
    >>
    >>3004684
pretty sure skill is bosch. i can't bother to google it tho
    >>
    >>3004683
I bought a 7" Ryobi one years ago so I could use the same blades as on my circular saw. It's a little small, but it's fine.
    >>
    >>3004720
It’s the same company as Kobalt-Flex IIRC

    >>3004683
Do you have a stand? You’re going to want one. If you don’t need the saw right now, wait a month and a half for the holiday sales to start in October. I got the Ryobi 10” sliding with a free stand for about the same money a couple years ago and it’s not bad for my like once every few month woodworking projects. Stick a Diablo blade or something on there instead of the Skil blade that comes with it. Also the DeWalt 12” slider always goes on sale with a stand around the holidays

I have the stand for it. It wont be used daily so I don't need to spend $600+ on a Dewalt. Reviews are good and it has the LED shadow light and is supposed to be solid out of the box. Seems more than enough for a DIY miter saw that will be used once a week or so. I plan to get a Diablo blade for it. Just wondered if anyone had one and had an opinion on it.

    >dewalt stand clips don't break in the first two months every single time
    >your employer doesn't flip shit that you ask them for $6 of replacements
    >management buys themselves a fleet of Ford Raptors, a sliding panel saw, and hire four new project managers

    Skil ≠ Skilsaw
    Same company, 2 different lines.
That one probably isn't terrible for a beginner. Just learn how to set and calibrate it so it's accurate.

    >DIY home use
it's a specialized tool with limited applications though
    >>
    >>3007189
Kek, not really. If you have the space and do a mild amount of DIY carpentry stuff, miter saws are super nice to have, especially if you can get a sliding 10” for that money. Being able to make repeatable cuts at somewhat precise angles is important.

    >>3004683
Just go find a good deal on FB marketplace I got a 10" metabo for $40
    >>

    >limited applications though
It's the go-to for basically any time you wanna be damn sure you get a straight cut and it'll do anything a skilsaw is designed to do except rip cuts (if you don't mind bring the wood to the saw), a miter saw is incredibly worth it.
    >>
    >>3004683
I bought one of these to do some basic framing for my sisters house since I suck at straight cuts with a circular saw.

It's definitely not as nicely built as a Dewalt or Makita (these seem to be the gold standard) but I'm also not on a jobsite that abuses their shit.

I paid $200 for mine, dunno if I'd pay nearly $300. Also look on fb for a used saw
    >>
you only need a skilsaw for anything DIY homeuse
    >>

    >take circular saw
    >create guide track for it
    >put the front of it on a hinge
    >now you have a sliding compound mitre saw
    >benefits ensue

Do you not know what a miter saw is used for?
Are you sure you're on the right board?
    >>
    >>3010867
watch homeless despot special deal of the day. that saw is usually on sale once a week at 375 but occasionally drops
    >>
    >>3004683
    Blatant shill.

    >>3007189
    Blatant ragebait.

it's a one trick pony for helpless freaks who think making a rip into softwood is some astronomical task
    >>
MAKE SURE TO CLAMP IT DOWN WHEN USING. IT CAN BUCK UP AND TAKE YOUR FINGERS
    >>
    >>3010912
that dude is not comfortable using that saw and makes a big no-no by reaching across under the blade to grab the wood.
    >>
    >>3004683
Cheap miter saws are flimsy, but that doesn't matter if you just keep it in the garage. They cut just like an expensive one.
    >>
    >>3010866
It does only do one thing. That one thing is extremely useful for a whole lot of other higher order tasks though.
