    This guys a retard

    >grandpa who has built dozens of houses by hand
    >knows at a master level multiple trades, but isn't braggadocio about it, rather he is humble willing to learn modern ways
    >compliments and highlights young guys in trades doing impressive stuff like building a house with just 3 people and limited equipment
    >learning and highlighting alternative building methods like chinese or korean joinery

Sorry, how is he a retard?
    >>
I wonder what his stance on israel is.
    >>
    >>3001191
that guy was referring to himself.
    >>
i always wonder how you make a small cut on top of a board with a circ saw
imagine one day feeling too lazy for a handsaw and the board is too big to move to a bandsaw or whatever and you try to balance the circ saw on the top edge of the board to make a cut and some cringe happens
    >>
    >>3001191
    >implying
grandpa is smartphone addicted dilettante who buys random junk which is sometimes over expensive or too cheap and half asses every job with a bitter irritated attitude because he's been away from his phone for too long
grandpa posts update of his custom motorcycle project on facebook while his son suffers from toothache and potential lockjaw
    >>
    >>3001535
The cringe is that we're staring right at the bevel adjustment while he freehands a chamfer.
    >>
    >>3001562
in addition his arm and body position are dangerous.

he will have no strength against a kick-back into his guts

I've done dangerous stuff but this looks just stupid, like pull plug and yell at apprentice stupid.
    >>
    >>3001703
Wormdrive is torque heavy, but it's not going to push his arm out of the way of his body if it binds. These people free cut all day long on roofs, so the saw itself his very unlikely to get away from them.

The material, however, resting on the edge of a table as he cuts above his leg is notable.

When making free cuts and other stupid time savers, it's important to cut away from your body. Mind the blade after the cut. If I must do something terribly stupid like a backward cut, I two hand the saw and feed material slowly so there's no chance the saw can roll back to me.
    >>
    >>3000989
Hard to tell from the pic what he’s doing exactly. My guess is he’s experienced enough to know what’s safe I.e if a cut might cause kickback. He does at times do unsafe things though, like pouring a bag of dry cement without a mask/filter, but few are 100% safe. Id like to think I’m pretty damn safe, but I’ll readily admit I’ve done some bone headed things, usually out of fatigue or distraction.

The spiteful mutant is a real thing. I felt the pull of it myself as one. Fortunately for me, I am at least over 6 feet tall, so I was able to summon the willpower to get out of that mentality and find a woman that tolerates my turbo autism.
    >>
    >>3002988

Lol. You seem like one of those spiteful mutants >>3002988
was talking about. Oh no! I used the wrong terminology! She stays home takes care of the kiddos, keeps the house and yard tidy, puts beer in the fridge for me every day, cooks all the meals, makes sure the goods in the house are stocked up, and lets me plow her holes any time I want to, and I get to do hard physical labor and buy any toy, tool or piece of equipment I ever wanted to own.

He's an ok guy. Definitely uses a lot of power tools in his workshop, both of which are things I can't really afford at the moment. Many times watching his methods it feels different than the way I would do things. Like the time he was putting a new handle on a knife and dulled the edge on his belt sander then resharpened it after the handle was done. I probably would have preserved the edge by wrapping it in cardboard or something. For him putting a new edge on a knife is very simple in terms of time and effort. For me putting a new edge on a knife takes a bit of time with a file and a wetstone. The equipment in your workshop changes how you think about and approach projects.

    >>3001111
The guy invented his own hand tool to dig foundations quicker. He's a high caliber tradesman.

whys the blade of his saw on the wrong side?
    >>
    >>3000989
i bought the shirts he recommended. they're cheap and pretty good.
i don't watch much of his boomer channel though.
    >>
    >>3008064
it's a worm driver, zoomer. go back to eating tide pods or changing your gender.
    >>
    >>3008077
Most all worm drive saws are blade left... I'm betting money on that image being mirrored for some stupid reason. You see it all the time on those stupid hack videos where they will "unscrew" something by turning it the wrong way because they decided it looked better mirrored I guess?
    >>
    >>3008090
it's not even a worm drive. you can see the motor and the brushes. blade left or right isn't standardized. you can get either.
    >>
    >>3008090
Actually the logo on his coat would be backwards too... So yeah I'm wrong about the mirrored thing.

    >>3008092
After pulling the picture up on a bigger screen yeah you're right. I hate blade right saws. Just seem completely assbackwards to me.
    >>
    >>3000989
Boomers are weird they always do stuff wrong

    > let’s just make a drill stop on the lathe real quick…

    > nah Sonny , let’s just use tape

And boomer precision is like anything within a half inch regardless of surface finish is “dead nuts”

    > why do you have your calipers set to thousandths of an inch? The harbor freight tape measure is all you need

Too much fancy electronics with you kids
    >>
    >>3003094
    >wife that lets me
This type of language no matter how loving or genuine will always be the gayest shit ever. Why exactly do you need her permission? It just comes off as really weird and that stereotipical football watching father who's been relegated to staying in the basement. While his wife fucking her boss at work, because she gets tired of having to give orders and permission to a grown ass man in her house.
    >>
    >>3004374
    >he was putting a new handle on a knife and dulled the edge on his belt sander then resharpened it after the handle was done

how is this different than just stacking it against an edge
    >>
    >>3008299
He's right though, it's extremely pathetic behavior.
    >>
    >>3008361
Except.nothing he has said is even remotely close to the truth... Never cared about watching football at all. Watching nigs chase a ball around just really isn't my cup of tea.
She doesn't have a job outside of the home/farm. I guess you could say I'm the "boss" on the farm although I do run ideas for big changes past her because we work together as a team. Sometimes I'll get her input or ask if we have enough money in the account for larger purchases or before dragging another tractor home. She takes care of the financials and bookwork/bank account stuff because once again, not my cup of tea.

I don't think it's being a cuck asking, "Hey babe, with all this stupid oil pricing shit going on, do you think we should stock up on some barrels of 15-40 and hy-tran? I found this place online and have 6 barrels of each in the cart, total is almost 10 grand, is the credit card paid off so I have enough balance to complete the transaction?"

It's just common courtesy and good communication, which I'm sure you know nothing about... And yes, yesterday morning we had that exact conversation and then after she called the company up and sent in our tax exemption into I got a revised quote and ordered it.

Maybe you should step outside, breathe some fresh air, touch some grass, and quit projecting so hard...
    >>
Did she hurt you, bro? We're here for you.
    >>
    >>3008064
    >>3008090
it's correct because your right hand will grab the handle and left the front and blade will be away from your body
    >>3008077

I learned some things from him, but the most important thing I learned is to lend out your tools to your neighbors. Even if they don't return them, loan them another. It's what Jesus would do.

    >>3009540
Honestly, it would be cool to have a neighbor network where everyone works together. But alas I am a loner not a loaner...
