>the show is dogshit, everyone knows it's dogshit, but the fuckable twin sister lolis make it palatable
>12 episodes of me drooling over the cute cinnamon rolls Nisha and Pavi, while ignoring the garbage animation, garbage character designs, atrocious voice acting, unfunny Marvel humor, and retarded characters who want to kill a 9 year old for something that happened before she was born
>Episode 13 drops
>Bryke, like every other hack writer, thinks twins cannot exist unless 1 is "good" and 1 is "evil"
>But that tired trope only works when 1 of the twins is genuinely an asshole
>Bryke, in all of their mediocrity, forces the trope by assassinating Pavi's character in the Season 1 Finale and replacing her with an unironic edgelord who radiates Super Saiyan God aura
>future seasons will not be worth watching, as no more cute twin sister interactions draws attention to the rest of the show which has absolutely nothing to offer

>is this really where they went with the premise?

yes, it's obvious to anyone who has been consuming media for 30+ years

by the end of the series 1 twin will be the typical "good" avatar and the other will be the evil "second coming" Destroyer Korra analogue

it's obvious which will be which, it's been obvious since Episode 1, but Bryke drags out these obvious story beats like we are morons who can't see it coming

Go read the leaked storyboards if you still can't wrap your head around this corny uninspired concept Bryke stole from various anime

Imagine ruining the most pure, wonderful twin sister relationship just to write this teenage fanfiction bullshit

What is the point of bending in this show? The cultural roots that made each bending have a sense of uniqueness is completely gone. An air bender is whatever gay twink or responsible dad does throwing windy shit. Combat-wise, fire and water bending are pretty much the same shit with a different color, in fact ice is more recognizable than water bending at this point, I guess Earth bending gets a little favoritism because it's easier to be creative with it. The show didn't even bother making Ellora be particularly characterized by its bending because benders can be anywhere and anyone, so I wouldn't expect that from the other havens. Bending is both unimaginative in fights as well as inconsistently awful at showing whenever a "master" at bending like Karthik is actually powerful, whether because of his amazing technique or because the plot demands them to be strong for a scene and sometimes not that strong for another. Like, the most unique part of the show so far is when Pavi and Nisha blast through the red lightning of evil shit. Even the shitty minimalist symbols for each element reflect how little bending actually has any personality in this show, it doesn't feel like a system the writers want to really play with.
>>
>>156124048
I saw some people saying they are both vaatu because of the red glow, but pretty sure it's obvious that yes pavi is the true avatar. She saw the past lives and seems to be getting way more guidance than nisha.
>>156124576
I said it last week thread as well, making nisha the vaatu/troubled avatar just doesn't work here because she's not enough of a brat or asshole. It's just setting up nisha suffering porn especially since they actively pushed her out of the plot. Also this is the most typical anime sibling trope for a forced conflict

>1 twin actually trains and wants to be strong
>Other twin doesn't care and just is peaceful and quiet
>Strong twin gets humbled and the nice twin mogs them super hard and gains a bunch of love and power the other twin wanted

They literally made the final episode all about nisha being a fraud. Nisha is now confirmed to be vaatu vessel and be the one causing the chakra/spirit plagues which proves the chancellor right. Then also she's much weaker than pavi and actually the one holding her back. Also not only does she get kiddie trauma that she killed her parents she also knows she crippled her sister and can't control her powers. Then add on to that pavi despises her now so typical twin misunderstanding/hate each other storyline. An add on to all this pavi gets a power boost and real avatar moment where she easily outpaces nisha and makes her look like the bad avatar to pavi's good avatar. People literally said "wow there are two avatars and one is actually helping us". Like I feel by the end of this series /co/ will actually hate pavi and love nisha just because the show will keep shitting on her for no reason. In hindsight the signs were there already sadly

>>
>>156124048
Honestly I completely agree, Pavi being written like that Is complete shit. I side completely with Nisha now. I started the series liking Pavi more but I've flipped now, Nisha Is my favorite. I get that Pavi is 9 but Nisha 100% did not Intend to kill her parents. Her powers were out of control, It wasn't her fault she was 6 years old and her family was abandoning her like she was trash. If she was unstable before that the people she loves fucking off would have made her worse. If Nisha spirals from this point forward It Is 100% Pavi's fault and not Vaatu If Nisha really has It. It's true Pavi can't be blamed for acting like that moments after finding out her parents are dead but If she thought about It this could have ended with them being an unbeatable team regardless of Raava and Vaatu. Mind you I am not a Korra supporter, she's complete garbage who acted like a 9 year old when she was 17.

>>156125073
It's open to interpretation that when JJ saw Roku, he might have been hallucinating, as Aang had no reaction. Then again, maybe Roku convinced him on purpose, knowing that Aang would fuck up and internalize that he must learn the elements in order. Or maybe he just made a mistake. That's three ways to read the scene, and all of them are valid, which is more than can be said for the alternatives.

Crazy I mention that this would happen right above you, but yes think irony is nisha will be much more likeable because she'll be the "flawed sister" we are meant to hate. Bryke ironically are decent at writing flawed characters who aren't half bad mostly because they write very light hearted now so they won't make nisha full on commit active murder probably killing her parents by accident will be the worst thing she does.

I assume the goal of her parents was to give her to kharhik so he and the white lotus could "fix/tame" her powers. I think sad reality is pavi without nisha isn't as fun they balanced each other out very well, nisha works without pavi especially since she has been the one putting in all the work. But pavi and jae are too goofy and light hearted to work as a duo. They'll definitely write pavi like jesus everywhere she goes she succeeds now that she locked in and everywhere nisha goes she'll fail or make things worse especially with the massive trauma her parents left her and her growing inferiority and self hatred complex pavi left her with as well. Honestly I truly hope I'm wrong but I feel like they are going to make nisha take Korra's abuse magnet and hated by everyone aspect but then give pavi korra's plot armor and everyone loving/overlooking her mistakes. Which will make nisha feel like she's getting suffering porn with how bad she'll be treated. Pavi will be the secret avatar by the time they learn she's the avatar everyone will love and accept her. Nisha will be the known hated avatar that gets rocks thrown at her and name called and has to work twice as hard to prove herself

Ellora turned out to be a rather elaborate shithole. And Nisha has to stay in it even longer now.
>>
>>156125216
Nope, Pavi hates Nisha now. The writers forced this pointless irrational heel turn because "hurr...twins should split up, becomes enemies, and fight to the death at the end of the story hurr"

The story will waste 3 seasons with Pavi being guilt-ridden over abandoning her sister like a dumbass

Only in the final season (after the timeskip) will they reunite, but by then either the show will be cancelled or people will have long since stopped giving a fuck, since the twin sisters doing cute things was carrying the entire show (people will realize this when Season 2 starts and all that's left is gay characters and chopped animation)

>>156125199
You might be right, anon. The irony of Jinora was that fans liked her because she wasn't the MC and was doing more than Korra. It really shows Bryke never learns or takes notes. If they did, they'd have played more with someone other than the Avatar being a spiritual leader, like how Iroh was very well versed in spirits, but he was not the Avatar, and others could also meet and see spirits, like Moon Spirit Girl. I think that could be a fun angle but problem is they just took the hey some people that jinora mogging korra was cool let's make twin avatars where one is a complete loser and we abuse her for being a fight lover and confident til she's suicidal like we made korra. Then the other one will be the mary sue shounen badass true avatar with all the goodies and none of the handicaps.

They literally have Nisha getting tentacle raped In Pavi's dream, It wouldn't surprise me at all If Bryke Is writing her ONLY to suffer. If this Is some sort of revenge for people not liking Korra they're doing It wrong because there Is nothing not to like about Nisha.

People definitely weren't happy she basically super charged korra in s2 but people slowly started to hate korra and like jinora. Most people even used to joke jinora should be the avatar and made fun of korra for being worse than a 12-14 year old little girl when she was damn near 20. I like jinora design wise but never cared for her but I see way more jinora love than I do hate though maybe because 90% is directed to korra and her team avatar

I was not indeed
>>156125379
I meant like how she's already the well liked avatar and shown to be super powerful. Which really is more telling of the writing, the end should have been them overcoming their fears together. Or at least have nisha who all season was super afraid and unspiritually aligned finally overcome her fears to protect everyone. But instead pavi who has at this point 3 times over come the spirit blight just does it again but even cooler. It's showing the same bad writing signs, like pavi has not once lost to the spirit blight unlike nisha everytime she got pulled out of it or pushed it away with her superior avatar spirit. Nisha on the other hand has gotten humilated by the blight and forced into fear every time and she ends the season still afraid if not even more afraid it's literally just watching one kid be loved by the writers and the other getting curbstomped.

I wonder how the show is going to justify the parents trying to abandon Nisha in the night. If Nisha's outbursts were dangerous to Pavi, then why didn't one parent stay with Pavi and the other with Nisha?

Their house is still standing. The parents don't seem to be afraid of leaving Pavi to sleep in the same bed as Nisha. Nobody seems wounded, there aren't demonic claw marks or scorch marks in their nice little home.

So then it's probably not like The Exorcist or something where Nisha is totally possessed by some murderous entity that could kill them all at any moment.

So we assume that Nisha is still dangerous enough that the parents want to raise Pavi safely away from her. Or maybe the parents want to take Pavi to another Haven, so the twin Avatars are split between two White Lotus cells.

But why wouldn't one parent stay behind with Nisha?

If we assume Nisha was having dangerous episodes of energybending, then what was the parents' plan? Let her new guardian get exploded by her meltdown at being abandoned by her family?

Padding out too many episodes with this drip-fed mystery, and it looks like the show is still milking the mystery for more drama that is eventually going to be resolved in one vision sequence.

Ursa and Kya mog the twins' chickenshit parents.

True guess I either forgotten or assumed neglect was better than hate. But yeah this was very stupid of them as well. Jinora just somehow summoned enough spirit energy to fuel korra. >>
>>156125622
I think the dad was just extremely scared of Nisha and planned to leave her there for Karthik to pick up while they moved somewhere else where Nisha can't find them. Both probably didn't want to stay out of fear of getting hurt by her. They are Elloran citizens at the end of the day they too grew up fearing the avatar would destroy the world and one of them was already showing signs. I doubt there was ever any intention to drop off Pavi with a white lotus since the letter said avatar and not avatars like Nisha pointed out and none of the other Havens lotus' know about Pavi

Holy shit I was actually liking the show hoping for some good payoff for the finale but all 4 episodes were so fucking dogshit.
Korra S1 is like Sopranos compared to this crap damn. They really dropped the ball.

Glad I’m not the only one who thought the ending was retarded. Settle down bitch. In your own memory you can see your sister was clearly distraught and couldn’t control her power. Plus your bitch parents left her alone in the middle of nowhere without explanation. You should be mad at them. Also as predicated this whole season is all spirit power mumbo jumbo that makes no sense.

ASH is dropping the ball, and it's wasting potential, but season 1 of TLoK hit the ground sprinting to add stupid shit to the lore, turning brothers and friends against each other in love triangle bullshit, and the entire Equalist conflict ended in a wet fart that addressed nothing.

The main selling point of ASH is that at least it's not TLoK. Yet.

>nisha creates some spirit nuke because she was scared since her parents abandoned her

Just compare this entire prison break sequence with the prison break we got in episode 12. This is the closest to a 1-to-1 scene comparison so far.

We are never getting this level of choreography, animation, creativity, dialogue, or character "aura" from this franchise again.

>>
>>156126330
man the bending really just feels a lot more weighty than in ASS. guards just start blasting no questions asked. just raw action while ASS would have characters stopping every five seconds to marvel quip
>>
>>156126487
That might explain the "aura" aspect sure, but the other aspects just come down to a lack of proper art direction and their stupid decision to cut costs (I would assume) by going with an inept Frenchoid studio instead of one of the several prior Korean studios they worked with.
The "high effort" animation we got from episode 13 was still barely at the level of the average episode from ATLA or TLOK. Everything just LOOKS bad in this show, even outside of any gripes with writing, pacing, etc.

I'm sure she'll grow more loyal as the story progresses but honestly that fits. She seems to be homeless just like pavi no parents and unlike the twins she probably never got to know her parents. Might be how her and nisha bond both abandoned kids. But she did seem to feel a bit bad plus she knew they weren't going to kill pavi she wasn't the avatar in her head.

Thought this was fan art til I clicked it they literally hate this little girl huh. But I can't be too hard we made fun of them saying they'd be too cowardly to hurt little kid mcs in the pre series threads too. But as you said Nisha is taking a undeserved brunt of it especially with pavi being out for her blood too. Pavi all but said if I see you again I will beat you up because you aren't my sister anymore. Nisha is basically hated by everyone but karthik right now.
>>156126967
Honestly I said the same thing, pavi also gets the benefit of being unknown everyone knows what Nisha looks like and so no one will really suspect the cripple girl. They'll probably welcome her as a normal girl until she saves the day while Nisha will have people gunning for her as everyday because remember all the leaders from the other havens said they'll tell word that the avatar is back. So now everyone already thinks she's evil and she has wanted posters.
>>
>>156127056
I know everybody hates filler episodes but this series really needed filler episodes to flesh out most of the cast and make passage of time feel more natural as opposed to each episode being an X amount of weeks after the last.
>>
>>156124048
Yeah this was weird, why have Pavi get mad at her 6 year old sister?
She's in the middle of crying about how their parents are abandoning Nisha, Nisha understandably has a temper tantrum and power she can't control (that's clearly Vaatu's power) blasts them.
Nisha isn't responsible, she had no power; her retarded parents made her upset and thought they could run away in the night or some shit.

Also the bandits are completely irredeemable garbage. They objectively steal food and medicine from their home to go on a crackpot quest in search of a Republic Forrest that obviously doesn't exist AND they're proud.
They're proud and believe that they deserve the food they stole because they're strong, and they were going to kill Jae and brainwash the children.
Then when they think the avatar twins might not be able to pull their weight, they threaten to abandon them to the hunters. Insane shit.

The Ellorrans are like MILDLY authoritarian as a result of the need to use Benders to operate the giant storm protection walls and shit.
Like they're constantly besieged by fuckhuge death storms and fewer Benders are being born each year to protect everyone.

>NOOOOO I NEED TO BE A BAKER!!! A BAKER!!! I NEED TO GROW FOOD!!!
Really just nonsensical. It would have been better to have those characters be cowards or something rather than just selfish.

Yeah, her evolution to a bad guy felt really abrupt and strange.
If she truly believed she needed to drop a living thing in there, why not some animal? A lot of scientists would use animals as their test subjects. Or if she thought she needed a human, what about those prisoners she was keeping right there, in the exact same facility? Why pick the scientist she actually needed?

>>156127092
They are identical twins with the same face, though. Anyone who has seen one of them would recognise the other one too. And it looked like it's now public knowledge that the Avatar has a twin sister.
The ending of the last episode shows that Ellorans did accept Nisha as a hero and they cheered for her. I don't get why, though. These people had been taught that the Avatar is a genocidal destroyer. Even now, it seems like trouble still keeps following her. So it's weird how quickly their minds changed, and how they tossed away centuries of anti-Avatar propaganda.
>>
>>156127092
>Thought this was fan art til I clicked it they literally hate this little girl huh.
Justice for Nisha! Hopefully Karthik comes to the conclusion Pavi Is the one with Vaatu. It would make sense considering she had orange/red eyes In pseudo avatar state just like Unalog's dark avatar
>>
>>156126263
They're both turds but Korra somehow had better pacing and at least the voice acting and animation weren't abysmal.
>>
>>156127106

>Also the bandits are completely irredeemable garbage

That is just the real human nature

A universal set of rules (laws), punishments for not following them, and people who enforce the punishments (police) are the only things separating our species from the wild animals we ridicule and cage for our entertainment.

Works of fiction with post-apocalyptic settings usually get it right. With no incentive to act civilized, men become savages, and women become currency and recreational objects for pleasure

Human traffickers, and lawless militias like the Mexican cartel who make their living smuggling people into the US are just a sneak peek of what everyone would be doing after an apocalypse

The Faceless taking what they want, and kidnapping and indoctrinating naive, impressionable children they find is par for the course

Humans are scary. Don't take candy from strangers :)
>>
>>156127138
>I don't get why, though. These people had been taught that the Avatar is a genocidal destroyer. Even now, it seems like trouble still keeps following her. So it's weird how quickly their minds changed, and how they tossed away centuries of anti-Avatar propaganda.
from their PoV their captain of the guard showed up, said she was helping get rid of the giant nuclear bomb that was eating their city, and then the nuclear bomb blast stopped. yeah pavi did it, but they look the same, the people are clearly not that smart, and karthick was raising her up to show her off to the masses
>>
>>156127193
what voice acting struck you as abysmal?
>>
>>156127138
To be fair they just saw pavi solo the equivalent of a nuke and do some divine miracle type beat. They probably just accept it was Nisha or something or both of them. Also remember no one knows pavi is the avatar but ellora remember the chancellor didn't even know Nisha had a twin no one did but dantu who brought her up. Nisha hid herself most times before revealing she was the avatar.
>>156127186
Do they even know about vaatu and raava though they didn't even know about that openly in 200 years prior.

Nisha probably will either get even worse treatment next season sadly. Pavi was always stated to be the mc and all the lore books said she would be the wandering avatar with Jae. So I think Nisha will be the public face avatar next season then be treated like a fraud when pavi saves the day when she can't again.
>>
>>156127056
Because the writers are idiots that write by going through checkpoints instead of thinking of how the characters should act based on personality and write the story around that to their intended endpoint.
>>
>>156127312
>Also remember no one knows pavi is the avatar
I feel like some people would have to know. I mean, she screamed it out loud in front of a bunch of random witnesses.

I'm not really sure what the citizens would assume now. The Avatar supposedly stopped the red dome, but then there was also this one-legged girl who saved the Avatar and claimed that she was actually the Avatar, and they were already searching for the Avatar's twin sister before so what's the deal with this crippled girl? Would people connect the dots and realise both of the girls are the Avatar? Or would they think there's been some weird misunderstanding and there was actually just one girl instead of two? Or would they have a rumor mill with lots of conspiracy theories about what actually happened back there?
>>
>>156127357
That really was a DBZ power-up.
>>
>>156127056
To be fair at least it was somewhat hinted at in the beginning (something always seemed off about her, even when she was nice, and she was ruling the city through fear and smiles essentially) and you could argue that Karthik's betrayal and Avatar's reemergence sent her off the deep end.
But Datu? Dude had no reason to feel betrayed by anyone, afahk Jae was still on their side up until the jail break. Yet he was immediately all hands on deck when Kayoko turned into Daenerys. Then during the city's near destruction he was almost comical with how he was trying to flee. Like if there had been lifeboats full of women and children he'd have tipped them over so he could jump in alone.
>>
>>156127387
>To be fair at least it was somewhat hinted at in the beginning
NTA, but I disagree. Yes some people here thought she had Azula-vibes, but I honestly thought they were crazy and were just going solely by character design.
She didn't rule by "fear" at all, it was solely pragmatic reasons for taking Benders and all that stuff. The thing that everyone feared, the avatar, was a cultural thing from 200 years of rumors and propaganda and had nothing to do with her.
>>
>>156127397
She was the politician behind a paramilitary force that kidnapped children. She worked her benders day and night to shore up the city defenses after the first spirit attack. She also seemed to have "rules for thee and not for me" when it came to technology, scolding Karthik for having a radio while using one herself. It wasn't blatantly obvious and I agree the leap from Chancellor Palpatine to Galactic Emperor was pretty fucking abrupt, but it didn't just "come out of nowhere" like some people are suggesting, the overtones were always there that something was rotten in Ellora.
>>
>>156127056
>Watching Datu hold the other scientist back.
Geez
>>
>>156127412
She didn't "kidnap children", it is mandatory military service.
>She worked her benders day and night to shore up the city defenses after the first spirit attack
so that they will survive another day. Benders are firefighters, police, guards and construction workers.
>scolding Karthik for having a radio while using one herself
her radio is one everyone knows she has for emergencies, his one was hidden so he can contact unknown people from around the world.
You try to rephrase everything she did to make her sound bad, which just proves that you have no leg to stand on if you need to play word games like this.
>>
By the way, is there any plausible reason as to why the Faceless didn't fear the Avatar? As far as they know the Avatar is still spirit Hitler who destroyed their world. Just because they're rejecting the shitty forced conscription doesn't mean they were offered any alternative explanations to the history they were told

They better show more of what happened with their parents because their actions were completely retarded. I need to know what Nisha did for them to turn on her, how they came into contact with the white lotus, why they only told karthik about Nisha and not Pavi, why they were seemingly cool with just having two avatar daughters until they suddenly they decided they weren’t cool with one of them, or why they came to the decision to leave her all alone at home instead waiting for Karthik to arrive and take her or at least having one of them stay behind. NTA, but culture survives with the people that survived, numbnuts. 225 years is like 2 1/2 grandpas, that's not enough time for everyone's cultures to completely vanish. Uki's grandfather for example should know tons of shit about the old world, from either his parents or extended family, or his own grandparents.

>Does she just have a special Avatar aura?
this probably. like 1/7th of an avatar state.
>156127842

>>
>>156127803
I think the point is that, sure, the slate sort of got wiped clean, but it doesn't feel like they've developed any real bending culture of their own in its place over the past 200(two hundred!) years. The Ellorans' particularly Spartan outlook on benders doesn't really seem to extend to the bending itself to make it distinct, aside from apparently not teaching sand ending (which is odd since they live in a desert and get assaulted by sandstorms often).
This isn't unique to Seven Havens though. Legend of Korra was when they really started eroding the cultural aspects of bending, aside from airbending.
>>
>>156127861
So the avatar state comes with RWBY Aura too now? Wouldn't really surprise me at this point.
>>
>>156127803
The point is that by eliminating cultural aspects intertwined with bending, it has lessened the thematic worth of bending itself. What does it mean to be an air bender or an earth bender seems to have no significance, there is no notable disparity because bending isn't associated with a philosophy or theme or ethnicity any longer, which was important to the worldbuilding of ATLA and to some notable degree too in Korra. This causes a big issue because bending as a system doesn't offer anything to Seven Havens' story. It's said the first chakra gate Pavi unlocked is related to Earth chakra but nothing about it really has to do with earth bending, besides the fact it happened in the dusty stone desert place where earth benders are somewhat more common.

>>156129109
if you think your child is the biblical satan reincarnated, and you know of someone trustworthy who you know is familiar and capable with that sort of thing, would you not give up that devil child to that person to protect the rest of your family? remember, the parents most likely have a very good reason for suddenly being terrified of nisha

To be fair as well, Aang was trying to show off and lost control, wasn't ready/didn't understand yet the proper control and discipline over a very destructive element. He then shut down completely and refused to use it, whereas Zuko after burning Toph's feet was quick to apologize and express humility when admitting he had to be more careful.

However this was on purpose because it conveniently meant that Aang refused to bend the element most commonly used against him.

I just watched the last episodes.
Ffs, Pavi was so annoying and they did Nisha so dirty just to make Pavi look cool.
>>
>>156127056
She is suppose to be just that fearful. And people do wild shit when afraid. I guess the fear of the avatar vastly outweighed morality. Considering the avatar is an extinction level threat. Though in turn it makes it weird that everyone else got over it so fast. Hell I would expect the other havens to send armies at Ellora to stomp out nisha.
>>
>>156129225
Even if they're totally justified in sending off Nisha, they handled it incredibly poorly. Like, what were they expecting? Even if they snuck off successfully, were they just hoping Nisha would be fine and dandy with a complete stranger taking her after her family vanished? The parents were setting off a trauma time bomb by abandoning her instead of staying and talking it through with her. I've dealt with kids enough to know that you can talk a kid through almost anything if you have even an ounce of emotional intelligence and patience.
>>
>>156129678
They seemed to be worried about imminent catastrophe, in particular Nisha going nuclear when she learned they were separating from her. This is a justified fear given precisely what happened.
>>
>>156129678
But did you deal with children who could melt your face off with Sith lightning?

>I'm so afraid of the avatar and her fear demons that I'm going to feed the fear demon sludge in the basement so that I can loose it on the Faceless camp that's a couple miles from town, making it even stronger, because maybe it'll eat the Avatar or something even though I think the Avatar controls it
There's a difference between acting out of fear and making a cold, calculated decision that makes no fucking sense.
>>
>>156128815
I agree also anyone saying it is because she lied is full of shit. Nisha told Pavi straight up that she didn't want her to see the memory and Pavi was cool with it.

> he was almost comical with how he was trying to flee.
This, and the confession that he had always hated Jae's cooking.
At this point, the only thing missing is a scene of Datu kicking puppies while practicing his villain laugh.
>>
The curious thing is that the pirate queen bitch found Nisha as a powerhouse but Pavi is the one whose chakra is all fucked up and the one who unplugged part of her constipation. Nisha, at least in the past, didn't just seem to summon anomalies but was firing spirit bombs with that fucker.

I'm curious how this moves the needle. Is this the Raava/Vaatu angle with Nisha being the latter? Or is it the theory where the Avatar was split in a spirit/material way? Pavi is better at manipulating and redirecting spirit energy while Nisha has the raw bending strength? She can influence spirit anomalies but can't counter them.
>>
>>156129695
because they ditched her in the middle of the night without so much as a goodbye. Also ditching Nisha is fine but bringing along the other potential time bomb as Pavi was also obviously an Avatar was fine? No matter how you look at it, what they did was fucking retarded
>>
>>156129695
Yeah, so if they were THAT scared, then they were basically setting up whoever the White Lotus was gonna send to get fucking killed then. Practically a human sacrifice in the hopes it'll distract Nisha long enough that she won't follow.

The White Lotus are

a. trained benders
b. the historical (since aang's time) experts on "Avatar Shit"
c. specifically they trained Avatars

Now odds are the parents don't know the current state of the White Lotus being a remnant of what it once was, but they're not only still the closest things to experts one could have on Avatars but it's their literal fucking job to deal with the Avatar. Don't want to deal with the Avatar? Then why the fuck are you in the White Lotus?
>>
>>156129828

>assassinating Pavi's character
Nah, she's always been a selfish kid who breaks promises on a whim and dodges responsibility whenever it's inconvenient. I don't know if the writers intended it, but they've been surprisingly consistent about it. For someone who's supposed to be a goody-two-shoes protagonist, she's been a pretty awful person from the start.
>>
>>156129864
Literally everything that's gone wrong thus far has been a result of their own mishandling of the situation.
>>
>>156129822

>>
>>156129882
You give Korra far too little credit. You're also ignoring the fact that the White Lotus did get Nisha under control and there wasn't any more spirit anomaly shenanigans until Nisha and Pavi were brought together again. Put the ol' thinking cap on.
>>
>>156129884

>>
>>156129923
They did, via outsourcing to the people whose job it is to literally prepare the Avatar for Avataring, and getting their other non-Satanic child the fuck out of there. Unfortunately the Devil is not so easily denied his due.
>>
>>156129850
Just opens the question of how the parents know so much about the White Lotus and how to contact them. And even if they know all that, it's still fucking shitty and irresponsible not being there to help with the handoff. At the bare minimum, Dad should've stayed to smooth things over while Pavi and Mom left. There's just no way to justify leaving Nisha to wake up in the house all alone.
>>
>>156129936
Anon, Pavi was also blatantly an Avatar. By all accounts they should have also assumed she was a time bomb under that lens. Why not leave the other Avatar in the hands of the Avatar experts?
>S-she just wasn't showing signs that Nisha also didn't show prior
Pavi also got the same spooky shit going on. They were retarded. Plain and simple.
>>
>>156129936
That makes no sense. Pavi was also bending all the elements same as Nisha. If that were the case she'd have been left too because Avatar==Satan under the view of most normies in the world at this time.
>>
I swear the writers have forgotten what made the world of ATLA interesting. It wasn't just the bending. It was that the bending was deeply tied into the unique culture of each of the nations in a way that made the world feel like an actual place. But for some reason the new writers have made the same cardinal sin as in LoK, they have made some sort of multicultural metropolis where the elements aren't tied to any unique cultural identity and everybody is more or less the same. What is the fucking point? At this point the elements are just sort of superpowers that people just have and aren't tied to any cultural expression or tradition. It is very dumb. Why do they keep doing this? Why didn't they just make each haven it's own sort of specific nation with its own sort of specific way of bending tied into how they live?
>>
>>156127663
Zhao dies in TLA, Amon dies in LoK and so on. Avatar has always had the occasional death, it's not Friday the 13Th

>>156129903
The White Lotus didn't do shit. Nisha just conveniently stabilized after losing her memory. Best you can say is Karthik was incidentally a good influence on her, which is just luck since the rest of the White Lotus are basically assholes who don't know how to handle children.

But Pavi wasn't throwing spirit nukes, not even when very upset. Nisha was shattering the ground around her.

You're seriously sitting there wondering why parents who see the equivalent of one happy smiling child making friends with rocks and talking to bugs isn't the same as the one drawing her family as gravestones and dissecting the neighbors' pets. Not EVERYONE can raise Dexter to only use his serial killing for good.
>>
>>156129976
Their parents don't seem to see Avatar = Satan in the first place, for some reason we don't know yet they don't adhere to the Avatar Must Die belief. Whatever is the deal with Nisha is a different factor in the equation. Maybe they were always connected to the White Lotus and Nisha's thingy was a new element that caught them off guard and they wanted to give her to Karthik to get the bomb out of their hands, so maybe Karthik doesn't know her deal yet either
>>
>>156129995
I'd say to wait and see. Agam is clearly a sandbender and said Nisha still had stuff to learn since she only knew "the Elloran style". Yes, benders of each element are spread out all over the place, but waterbenders who live in the old Fire Nation and airbenders from New Ba Sing Se may very well have their own flair of bending to teach.

Kind of like the difference between Italian cuisine and Italian-American cuisine.
>>
>>156129942
I imagine the same way that the people of Ellora knew what they were. Nobody said, "Who the fuck is the White Lotus?" People clearly still remember the history of the White Lotus being attached to the Avatar. How they figured it out, who knows. Maybe the White Lotus is putting out feelers for the Avatar. "Seen someone bending all elements? Send an anonymous note to PO Box OHSHITIT'STHEAVATAR". Maybe the parents were asking questions trying to contact them and someone tipped them off. We don't know that information yet, same as we don't know what Nisha did that freaked the parents out to that extent.
>>
>>156130028
Again
>S-she just wasn't-
Doesn't matter. She was obviously an Avatar and they knew. Avatar means Satan. No guarantees one day she won't also sperg out over a bad day and blow up the town. So best interpretation is they still willingly endangered wherever they went with the other time bomb they popped out rather than leave her in the hands of the professionals they callously ditched Nisha on.
>>
>>156129976
Being the Avatar wasn't the issue, per se. Summoning anomalies and unleashing their destructive potential was. Only one child is shown doing that.

>>

Crazy underground cult. It was Kayoko who called them terrorists.
>>
>>156130148
Between the postapocalyptic setting and the fact everyone is some degree of a bad person and the MC is the most insecure and scared version of the Avatar so far, I don't think the substance of the story is particularly soft. The issue is how babyish the dialogue is, everyone is opening up about their feelings every three minutes and it wouldn't even be that bad of an issue if at least they did not play the sad music every single time as if they wanted you to be emotional at all times.
>>
>>156130204
I wonder if they do advertise after all. Their membership and activities are a secret, but they still let the public somehow know to bring all information about the Avatar to them? It makes some sense as opposed to waiting for the Avatar to just fall into their lap.
>>
>>156130135
They didn't know he was White Lotus, and they didn't want people to know they birthed the avatar.
>>
>>156130183
>They didn't know Karthik personally, plus this has already been gone over

> when you're worried she's already capable of blowing up and killing you all.
That is exactly why you don't trigger shit you can't control and wait for pro to handle this before doing anything stupid.
>>156130247
>They didn't know he was White Lotus
Doesn't matter. If they wanted to get rid of Nisha without creating a future enemy, all they had to do was wait and part on good terms. Instead, they went out of their way to give her a reason to hate them.
>>
>>156130243
maybe some info from Korras time? During her lifetime the White Lotus was pretty open about who and what they are.
Might even be that before the Fire Nation attacked they were well known and only afterwards went into hiding to not get burned to death.
>>
>>156127056
I'm just now remembering someone who posted a Daenerys at Kings Landing webm, a week or two ago...
>>
>>156130247
>They didn't know he was White Lotus
I think they did. The note said that he'll find what he was looking for, which can only be them knowing that he was looking for the Avatar in the first place.
>>
>>156130280
>That is exactly why you don't trigger shit you can't control and wait for pro to handle this before doing anything stupid.
You don't decide to abandon your child bomb if you think there's a reasonable chance of your child bomb not blowing up in your face. They also had another young daughter they were worried about, with good reason.

I think people are overlooking that there is no good way to palm your destructive daughter off on a stranger. This is Bomb 101. If a bomb is going to go off no matter what you do, it is important not to be near the bomb.

The White Lotus had a better chance of dealing with the anomaly tantrums than the family did regardless.
>>
So the writers confirmed Nisha will also be training to unblock her root chakra. Agam touched Pavi and only noted how much of a mess her chakras were. From this we can conclude that Nisha being "overflowing with power" has nothing to do with being the avatar or her chakras being blocked. So what is it?
>>
>>156130285
I'm still curious about the time delay to Nisha and Pavi showing up. Time dilation due to Korra being at ground zero of a spirit reactor explosion or were there 200 years of people learning they gave birth to the Avatar leaving them to be raised by very hungry wolves.

Bonus points if the very hungry wolves was always the White Lotus and everytime they think they have a high probability of the Avatar going rogue they do what the Romans did to Caesar and hope for the best with the next reincarnation.
>>
>>156130183
>The answer is never going to be to wait for Karthik to show up and then throw a big "we're ditching you, daughter," party when you're worried she's already capable of blowing up and killing you all.
That is literally the only answer that doesn't make everything worse. It's a human child, not a literal bomb, some kind of object. You can talk to children, reason then through things. It's not fucking hard. Take some fucking responsibility for your offspring, holy fucking shit. Don't want to endanger the whole family? Cool, just have Dad stay behind and do his fucking job as a father. We fucking know Nisha's not an insane psycho monster. If it's your own child that you're so afraid of, then you personally need to make sure she's going to get the help she needs, instead of just shooting a note to social services saying "Yeah, this kid's fucked. Can you guys come scoop her up while the rest of us are gone? Key's under the welcome mat."
>>
>>156130360
Whatever Korra did created a new avatar made of dark spiritonium, surely. She probably absorbed the spirit in her soul or tried to do what Aang did to Ozai but failed the QTE.
>>
>>156130332
>You don't decide to abandon your child bomb if you think there's a reasonable chance of your child bomb not blowing up in your face. They also had another young daughter they were worried about, with good reason.
They literally pulled the pin on a grenade and then acted surprised when it exploded. If a gas station is dangerous because of fire, you don't light a cig there. The whole point is to avoid triggering the thing you're afraid of in the first place.
>>156130332
>I think people are overlooking that there is no good way to palm your destructive daughter off on a stranger.
Anon, people have been sending kids off to orphanages and boarding schools for ages.

If the parents were really worried about their own safety, all they had to do was smile, feed her some nonsense about important training, and send her off with Karthik. Then they could've moved wherever they wanted without telling Nisha, if they were that afraid of her.

What they actually did was pretty much the worst option available: they made sure she'd feel abandoned, betrayed and kept running away when their plan failed.
>>
>>156130439
>Take some fucking responsibility for your offspring, holy fucking shit.
Careful, anon. That's a pretty radical parenting philosophy for this setting.

There's no perfect way, but they chose one of the worst.
>This is Bomb 101. If a bomb is going to go off no matter what you do, it is important not to be near the bomb.
That's assuming the bomb is going to go off no matter what imminently. They're the ones who deliberately set it on a timer in some vain hope that they'll be able to escape in time and bomb squad will be able to defuse it. And then Dad went back to kick the bomb when it came after them, setting it off while they were still in the blast radius.
>>

They weren't surprised. Anon, dude, my brother in Christ, this is the very reason they were running like hell. That's not the kind of decision made lightly and clearly they were troubled. Not sure how this is somehow flying over your head.

>Anon, people have been sending kids off to orphanages and boarding schools for ages.
The thread has been over this too. Same exact post in fact >>156129807
You don't send your literally explosive daughter to an orphanage or boarding school. You send them to professionals in dealing with that kind of shit. This is, oddly enough, precisely what they tried to do.

This isn't some kind of ancient puzzle written in a dead language, it was all there on screen for you to witness.
>>
>>156130517
The literal best way to handle it was being out of the blast radius, period. The only thing they did wrong was running into a sandstorm which slowed them down enough for Nisha to catch up. Fair to imagine this wasn't the plan, but they were up against the planned time of the White Lotus rep showing up.

>>
I don't know how anyone can defend the parents when the Dad sprouted off that insane "I won't let her destroy our family" line while literally tearing the sisters apart. The writers are gonna have to do some fucking insane bullshit to justify that, well beyond just him being afraid of Nisha's powers. That's not fear, that's anger, like Nisha isn't even his own child. But if they seriously go that route, that's gonna be fucking retarded in its own right.
>>
Nisha deserves to be abandoned for being a dipshit vagueposter 2 episodes long
>>
>>156130639
Probably because there's this wee bit of difference between split up but they're all alive and Nisha is getting help from professional Avatar guys and, you know, DESTROYED. Just a tiny smidge of a diff.
>>
>>156130639
to play devil's advocate, the second Nisha woke up and saw them he already basically knew she was gonna blow up and tried to basically make a run for it. It wasn't the right choice to act in fear (but morally and practically since he ended up biting it anyway) but it's understandable.
>>
>>156130636
Send Mom and Pavi away while Dad helps the handoff go as smooth as possible. How is this not the best option? Dad should have nothing to fear if he thinks the White Lotus can handle it, while it would obviously help his daughter emotionally digest it, which is something he should want as a father.
>>
>>156130686
>Pavi grabs Nisha and embraces her which gets her to calm down a fair deal

>>
>>156130686
Angrily shouting at her like that just isn't sympathetic in any case. What kind of father gets angry when his daughter looks at him with nothing but horror and confusion? There has to be something more than fear going on to override your basic human sympathy like that.

>Not sure how this is somehow flying over your head.
Anon, you're the one making batshit arguments here. Ever heard of a self-fulfilling prophecy? Because that's exactly what happened here. Nisha wasn't dangerous at that point, but her parents were so terrified of what she might do that they panicked and triggered the exact scenario they were trying to avoid.

And the dumbest part is that they never even had to handle the whole "crazy ebil avatar" situation on their own. All they had to do was wait for Karthik to arrive before doing something reckless.
>>
>>156130745
At the end of the day the goal was to send Nisha off with Karthik. You can tell yourself all you want "I would just talk to her and be super understanding and stuff and she wouldn't explode" but you've seen by now how stubborn and volatile she is and you'd have no ensurance she wouldn't fly off the handle at the moment of separation, or at any step of the process of sending her with the White Lotus. They tried to sneak away precisely because of that reason and at the moment she ran at them, they had been basically caught red handed doing what was most likely to set her off, there was no going back.
>>
>>156130688
Dad was an obvious coward but as said if ditching Nisha was the route they were going it there were so many other obvious routes to go. Play up the actual importance of it
>Honey you need to go with the nice man here okay? Those powers of yours are further along and are very special. They are going to train you to do something very important. You could help save our world, all of us. Blah blah we love you blah blah we'll meet again once you've mastered your powers
Easy.

>Have you heard of inevitability?
You don't have any proof that this was inevitable.
The self-fulfilling prophecy angle is pretty obvious:
- Nisha was calmly asleep in her bed before her parents pulled the trigger.
- Nisha calmed down when Pavi reached her, despite her parents' incredibly stupid plan.
Maybe Nisha would've gone off the rails eventually, maybe she wouldn't have. We don't know. What we do know is that the first major breakdown happened immediately after her parents abandoned her, and that she was still capable of calming down until her father managed to make an already terrible situation even worse
>>
>>156130886
Unless you're somehow of the delusion that the parents just decided this out of the blue and didn't already have a damn good reason to fear Nisha, then sure this is a total mystery.
>>
>>156130821
Yeah anon, fear makes you retarded. That is the entire thesis statement of the season. Kayoko went from a normal person to James Bond villain in the span of one episode. Nisha basically ruined her newly found sibling bond by being too afraid to show Pavi the vision the moment it happened. This isn't a setting where people are exactly rational.
>>
>>156130886
The irony here is if you have a child who is known for stabbing people randomly in the face, and your solution is to keep your other child around to calm her, you'd be considered awful parents for putting your other child in harms way and not getting the destructive one professional help. Pavi being present clearly isn't 100% guaranteed to not have Nisha go nuts. If you don't think so, just ask Pavi's severed and crushed leg. It's in that rubble over there next to her flat parents.
>>
>>156130913
Let's be real. Nisha showing Pavi sooner wouldn't have changed anything. Pavi has shown repeatedly to be flaky and be more autistic about "muh family" than Nisha and the Avatar stuff. She'd have still ditched
>>

I still hope they somehow tie in the world into the Avatars chakras. iirc in ATLA the spiritual state of the Avatar affects the spirit world, so Korra having somehow closed the Avatars gates also closed the worlds ones and unlocking them fixes the cataclysm.
I just need some reason that influences the world state to be properly invested in Pavis journey.

See, what you keep coming back to is that they're so scared of her that they think it wouldn't even be safe to be around when the White Lotus picks her up. But then they're just volunteering the White Lotus agent to likely die, which is shitty in its own right and only makes the situation even worse. On the other hand, if they had confidence that the White Lotus could handle her, there's literally no reason they should unnecessarily traumatize her by not leaving at least one parent behind to help explain things. Even if it's not strictly necessary, you have to be a cold fucking bastard to not care about needless trauma for your daughter.
>>
>>156130971
there is clearly some element of "GAH BEGONE DEVIL CHILD" at play but it's also not that easy of a situation to handle for a bunch of sand dwellers without 24h access to the internet telling them to be empathetic and stuff.

>Unless you're somehow of the delusion that the parents just decided this out of the blue
The parents have already proven themselves to be complete dumbasses who don't think rationally. I wouldn't be surprised if most of their fear was wildly exaggerated and they were basically scared of their own shadow.
>>156130933
>If you don't think so, just ask Pavi's severed and crushed leg. It's in that rubble over there next to her flat parents.
The funny part is that Pavi's leg was perfectly fine before her parents decided to go through with their genius plan, so you're actually proving my point.

"Nisha was dangerous" is an explanation for why they were afraid. It's not proof that their actions were the correct response. Every bad thing you're pointing to happened after they tried to abandon her and triggered a complete emotional meltdown. That's exactly why people call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
>>
>>156130933
>Pavi being present clearly isn't 100% guaranteed to not have Nisha go nuts. If you don't think so, just ask Pavi's severed and crushed leg. It's in that rubble over there next to her flat parents.
That literally happened because Dad tore Pavi out of Nisha's arms while shouting at Nisha. Like, that was clearly the trigger for her fully losing control.
Dad is the one that put her over the edge. He got his wife killed and his other daughter crippled. Maybe things would've gone wrong no matter what he did at that point, but as far as we're shown, he's the one who escalated the situation.
>>
>>156130944
this.
>What if I lose control and… and something bad happens?
>I just…I never want to lose you because of something I did.

>Did you forget about our Twin promise?
>No matter what you do, you’re stuck with me, sis!
And then Pavi does go and leave Nisha over something she did.
>>
>>156130971
They literally live under the blocked chakra point that's associated with fear with Nisha weilding the same anomaly energy that is basically pure concentrated fear that is so powerful people struck by it become the Afflicted, maddened by uncontrollable levels of fear.

You also keep behaving like people are happy with the decision. I don't think anyone is, they simply recognize that it was potentially the least shitty of a number of really shitty options. Would you rather eat the mini shit taco or the mega shit taco supreme? The only choice you don't have is not eating some level of shit altogether.
>>
>>156130993
It's their own daughter, not some creature they picked up in the wilderness. Unless they're gonna actually pull some bullshit where that's literally the case.
>>
>>156131022
>The parents have already proven themselves to be complete dumbasses who don't think rationally.
It's almost like people acting out of fear and making things worse, even when they were trying not to, wasn't somehow the theme of the entire fucking season.

>The funny part is that Pavi's leg was perfectly fine before her parents decided to go through with their genius plan, so you're actually proving my point.
All you've done is admit that you understand Nisha is dangerous. Congratulations, you've achieved recognition of the very impetus that caused the parents to act.
>>
>>156131041
have you never seen a movie or a tv show where a family thinks their child is the devil and they become terrified of her?
>>
>>156131027
Nisha was already hurling death bolts. But, nah, you're right, clearly let the other child play with the loaded gun, it'll be fine. Jesus fuck, dude. We're lucky you're on 4chan so your odds of reproducing are already so close to zero as to be mathematically insignificant.
>>
>>156131066
Nisha is no less dangerous than Pavi is and as other Anons have said, the threat and scenario only happened because they handled it in the worst possible fucking way.

When the child you are afraid of that is throwing a superpowered tantrum is calming down in the moment thanks to family love, you don't fucking yank away the one calming her down and probably keeping you all alive. That's just blatant retardation

>>156131087
The other child is also a loaded gun
>>
>>156131032
If your answer to "Why is everyone acting retarded?" is just "Magic lol", then that's bad fucking writing. And you keep insisting it's the least bad option but that's not something you can say definitively with the information we have. They need to provide more information to justify it as the least bad option. Because right now it seems like they ate the extra large shit taco instead of the mini.
>>
>>156131066
>It's almost like people acting out of fear and making things worse,
Exactly. So stop pretending the parents did the right thing. The whole point is that they were irrationally terrified and ended up causing a ton of damage that could've been avoided.
>All you've done is admit that you understand Nisha is dangerous.
Fear explains their actions, not justifies them, retard.
>>
The father destroyed their family, not Nisha.
>>
>>156131099
>The other child is also a loaded gun
Why would you jump to that conclusion? Pavi clearly wasn't death bolt hurling even when upset. It's not the Avatar they fear, it's how Nisha is expressing it. Thread's been over that point repeatedly too.

But, sure, let's try to slow walk you through this. Both children are capable of holding the knife but only one is stealing the neighborhood pets and dissecting them. Do you therefore assume both children are equally a potential threat to human life? I'm pressing X to doubt.
>>
All they had to do was for wait until karthik was at their home
Dude could easily get nisha on board
>>
>>156131161
>Why would you jump to that conclusion
Because Pavi is also an Avatar. The anomalies are clearly associated with that shit. The threat is there. Just because she wasn't displaying it that moment doesn't mean she wouldn't as what she is is clearly tied to it.
>>
>>156131087
Fuck off retard. It's beyond obvious you don't know shit about handling kids if you think inflicting maximum trauma to the kid was somehow the best option with what we know so far. Talking a kid through their emotions and making them understand the situation isn't some impossible thing. I've had to do this shit, I've seen other parents do it. There has to be more going on and until we know it, I can't defend the parents.
>>
>>156131114
>Exactly. So stop pretending the parents did the right thing. The whole point is that they were irrationally terrified and ended up causing a ton of damage that could've been avoided.
Just because people behave irrationally out of fear doesn't mean they weren't right to be afraid. This is clearly too subtle for you to pick up on.

>Fear explains their actions, not justifies them, retard.
Nisha shattering the local environment around her when she becomes upset does, though. I'd call you a retard back but I fear at this point that'd just be insulting actual retards.
>>
>>156131161
We don't even know Nisha was shooting out death bolts until Dad tore her and Pavi apart. She was just having a bending tantrum until she was sent fully over the cliff.
>>
>>156131190
What is beyond obvious is you can't handle being wrong and are now resorting to mindless insults instead of attempting to create a cogent response. It's cute you keep falling to vague anecdotal promises of what you've done. It's cuter that you're comparing this to a child with the power to potentially break a planet, based on what they know Korra did. Even the White Lotus, desperate to find, train, and protect the Avatar, acknowledge that the treat of another rogue Avatar cannot be ignored. They repeatedly stress this fact.
>>
>>156131161
We have been provided no evidence Nisha did anything of the sort. She had an understandable tantrum and her powers flared. That's all we got to go by so far and its nothing Pavi couldn't also be capable of doing by virtue of also being an Avatar.

Just look at Aang. He hulked out before but his homies didn't ditch him.

We saw it when Nisha was chasing them. She started with hurling giant fireballs, which is what alerted the parents that Nisha the Destroyer was hot on their trail. Then she collapsed a giant rock into the sand and started bending pointed boulders from the ground at their faces. When he shouts that Nisha's powers are too dangerous, they're not just telling, they're fucking showing.

I have a hard time believing he'd be such an asshole for no reason at all. Something must've spooked him so badly that he became terrified of his own daughter. Nisha's powers probably went out of control, but I'm not sure what kind of damage occurred. It wasn't Nisha accidentally taking Pavi's leg, since that happened only after her parents tried to leave her. It wasn't something so obvious that Pavi would've noticed it, either. She was confused when her parents told her that there was something wrong with Nisha and she needed help.
If the incident that pushed the dad into abandoning Nisha involved her doing something similar to pic related, I can't blame him. No parent is equipped to deal with that.

>>156131166
It looked like the parents wanted to remain anonymous and keep Pavi hidden from the White Lotus. If they had stayed behind, they wouldn't have been able to do that. Both Pavi and Nisha would have disagreed with separating them. Karthik might've learned that there are actually two avatars instead of one, which the parents apparently didn't want to admit.

Also, did they send the letter with the intention of "please come here to take this girl and train her to control her powers" or "please come here to kill this walking timebomb"? Did they know about the White Lotus and deliberately sent the letter to them, or were they trying to reach the Bending Brigade but accidentally got the letter in the hands of the only people who supported the avatar?
>>

All I am hearing is speculation. Waiting on proof of what Nisha actually did to make them do that. For all we know she could have just had gone kaioken once when interacting with some spirit related thing and that was enough for them to go full retard.
>>
>>156131240
>What is beyond obvious is you can't handle being wrong and are now resorting to mindless insults instead of attempting to create a cogent response
You literally did that yourself with that "We're lucky you're on 4chan so your odds of reproducing are already so close to zero as to be mathematically insignificant." line.
>It's cuter that you're comparing this to a child with the power to potentially break a planet, based on what they know Korra did
It's still a child. We've seen from Nisha's interactions with Karthik that she can be talked to like a normal person.
You're desperate to try to prove you're right when the answer is extremely plain: We don't have enough information to justify their actions at this time. That should be your refrain in this argument if you want to defend the parents. That's the only way to defend them that doesn't involve dehumanizing a little girl or making leaps.
>>
>>156131340

>>
>>156131196
>Just because people behave irrationally out of fear doesn't mean they weren't right to be afraid. This is clearly too subtle for you to pick up on.
The question is whether their fear was justified and whether their response was reasonable.
If I light a match in a gas station and the place explodes, "See? It was dangerous!" isn't much of a defense. The danger doesn't magically justify the thing that set it off.

>Nisha shattering the local environment around her when she becomes upset does, though.
Nisha wasn't throwing a tantrum because she didn't get dessert. She was a child under nine who woke up to discover that her parents had abandoned her and were trying to disappear from her life with her sister, who clearly didn't want any part of it.She didn't even know Karthik existed so she thought she was being thrown away and left completely alone.

"b-butut she could've done it under different circumstances too" - yeah, she could, but she didn't because parents were stupid enough to trigger her by themselves.

That's why it's called a self-fulfilling prophecy, dumbass.
>>

Sadly she probably will, Nisha has literally no one else in the world and she knows she was responsible. Only way she'll stop wanting pavi's love is if she goes dark and more the other way hating pavi back but pavi is officially the mc of the story. Which worries me we'll get a lot less nisha next season.
>>156129223
Sure do wonder what will happen to the little girl with the embodiment of chaos and darkness inside her when everyone keeps shouting that she's a monster and a destroyer and doesn't deserve any love over and over.
>>
>>156131407
If by warping reality you mean high probability of turning live things into dead things, then sure.

>>156131414
Super powerful six-year-old with the power to easily slaughter everyone nearby and potentially further if Nisha goes Full Korra? Yep, nothing remotely alike.
>>
>>156131340
This is the fundamental problem. We have to make a big assumption about what exactly the parents saw to scare them so much and that's ultimately subject to how generous you want to be towards them. With only what we saw and what we know of Nisha as a person and how completely unaware Pavi seemed to be at the time, it's difficult to paint a convincing picture either way of what really started all this.
What I fear is that the writers may not care to elaborate further and consider the whole parent thing solved, when there's more questions than ever.
>>
>>156131461
The assumption doesn't seem to be all that big to me given how freaked the fuck out the parents were compared to how they were when girls were just happily bending water around together.
>>
>>156131391
This is a terrible comparison given what we've been presented so far. You're making huge leaps based on your headcanon about what little Nisha was like.
>>
>>156131456
>if Nisha goes Full Korra
That seems to be the answer. They are raised with stories of the Avatar causing the Cataclysm that wrecked the entire planet and suddenly one of their children is showing similar destructive abilities. It may not be planetwide destruction, yet, but it doesn't need to be when you're worried about your family being Ground Zero of a Korra Level Event.

You never go Full Korra, anon. Nisha was threatening to go Full Korra.
>>
>>156131456
I'll cut to the chase, the problem is that everyone in this show is an idiot. Have you seen how pleading Nisha was at the banquet and Kayoko still went psycho mode, to a frankly unrealistic level? Almost certainly the same thing happened with the parents. Nisha is volatile but she blatantly fucks up by accident and not due to malice, anyone who isn't written stupid on purpose for the sake of drama would understand that
>>
>>156131505
We literally saw the level of destruction she was capable of, and it didn't even need to be direct controlled violence to still be deadly. If you think the parent's decision was made on a whim without good prior reasons to be afraid, you're welcome to that opinion, just as people are welcome to think you're being a naive idiot for doing so.
>>
>>156131477
See, this is what I'm talking about. It's a gap that depends on one's generosity towards the parents, one's predisposed belief that they were in the right or wrong. For what it's worth, keep in mind this is Bryke, kings of daddy issues, so I sincerely think it could go either way.
>>
>>156131534
This hot take confuses me. We are shown people raised with fearing the Avatar to the extent they have festivals with the Avatar being beaten up so she can no longer hurt them anymore. These are people scrounging for existence in a hostile world that is believed to be the result of the Avatar's deliberate actions. When the Avatar suddenly shows up you cannot perceive of these people finding the thing hammered into them since birth is an existential threat is a serious problem?
>>
>>156131589
I think if a child blatantly picks up a fight with a notorious criminal, dispels a hate ghost and then starts crying she doesn't want to destroy the world I would ask a couple of questions. It's not like the legends describe the Avatar as Satan where he tries to trick people.
>>
>>156131624
>well I would do it the RIGHT way because I am so smart and know everything by being a thousand percent removed from the situation at hand
no you wouldn't. you would get afflicted and become a vegetable before you changed your mind on the idea of the avatar
>>
>>156131578
It hardly seems overly generous to understand they were afraid of Nisha's destructive potential especially after we saw what she was capable of. I'm on Team They Should Have Run Faster.

With the Avatar creative team I'm more worried that it will turn out that the parents are actually alive, not under rubble but Nisha's anomaly manipulation pulled them into some kind of spirit limbo. The girls or at least Pavi will meet them but some contrived reason will be given for why they have to become one with The Force instead of returning to the real world. Looking at you, Dragon Prince.
>>
>>156131296
Better than Korras worst, worse than Korras best, a far cry from ATLA.
>>
>>156131648
come the fuck on dude, the misunderstood person openly doing something heroic in the middle of the street and then still getting shat on is a cliche as old as time. when have you ever seen that happen?
>>
>>156131624
I don't think what happened during the banquet qualified as dispelling the hate ghost. That was what Pavi did in the tunnels beneath Ellora. What Nisha did was lose control over the anomaly and it lashed out, creating the appearance that she was using it as a weapon.

Keep in mind Nisha doesn't have to do much to reinforce their fear of her.
>>
>>156131549
Yeah, she's capable of great destruction, but that means you need to be careful, especially when it's your own daughter, flesh and blood. The plan they came up with was not the most careful.

>>
>>156131665
>I'm on Team They Should Have Run Faster.

>>
>>156131725
They couldn't come up with seven seasons' worth of stuff. Let's remember these are small outposts and not giant nations so they might get through the issues of some of the havens relateively quickly.
>>
>>156131448
Her pure heart will win over the darkness in her and she will together with her sister save the world.
>>
>>156131684
>the misunderstood person openly doing something heroic in the middle of the street
That was Pavi and the crowd ate it up. The little cripple girl giving a dramatic speech while bending people to safety and beating back the anomaly? Then she motherfucking 1v1ed it and won.

Nisha made an already awkward dinner worse. Challenged a criminal? And failed. Challenged an anomaly? And failed. If you're gonna win back some hearts and minds of the little people, the key is not to fuck up your big debut with failure.

The irony is that really is excusable for Nisha. Circumstances at that point where driving her to this bad decision to reveal herself. Frustration over failing the White Lotus' test, fear of losing Pavi again, fear of losing Karthik and being taken from her home. Her desire to be an Avatar whom the people can look up to and not be afraid of. Poor Nisha got in over her head, but I don't blame her for that. Her actions were understandable.

We see them as a happy family. We also see the parents so terrified they are fleeing from Nisha in the middle of the night and trying to get Pavi as far away from her as possible.

Clearly something happened between these two events. We don't know what, but then there's a lot of mystery still left in the past. What happened to Korra, what happened to cause the Cataclysm? We have speculation there, too, but we don't know exactly what happened to cause Korra to start ripping glowing pipes from buildings in Republic City. Even without knowing the specifics it's easy to imagine something happened to justify the behavior even if Korra prooooobably didn't mean to crash the entire world with barely any survivors. Probably. Maybe. I mean it IS Korra.
>>
>mfw i finished the season

>>156131780

>>
>>156130933
Well no, the parents apparently didn't think that Nisha is the equivalent of a demon who randomly stabs people in the face, or else why would they leave the twins sleeping in the same bed together behind closed doors? They didn't clap a hand over Pavi's mouth when she woke up and started talking next to Nisha.

And the trope of pet animals being good judges of character is also in play. We saw that with Jae. If Nisha were so imminently dangerous and horrible, then Geet and Ruhi should be more wary around her. Geet is the one who pulled Pavi from the rubble and saw the whole thing go down, and yet he has no problem with Nisha. Just saying.

Maybe kid Nisha would freak out at being separated from Pavi even for a short while and would only be calm if they were glued to each other every waking second. Maybe the parents needed two adults to make the trip across the harshlands, and they didn't want Elloran authorities unnecessarily taking away Pavi too.

But Nisha didn't nuke out instantly. She woke up all alone, and she didn't nuke out. She saw her family walking away in the distance, and she didn't nuke out. She nuked out when her parents started openly abandoning her in the harshlands at night and physically pulling her equally distressed twin away from her.

It really seems that Dad was an irrational, cowardly blowhard, and Mom just went along with husband's foolishness.

Kids are pretty easy to deal with.

"Hey Nisha. You have chickenpox. Pavi and Dad are going away on a trip so they don't get sick too, and I'll stay with you while the doctor comes over to help."

Even during the Black Plague, most people didn't abandon their sick children. They did have an idea of contagion and infectiousness back then, but decent parents are prepared to stick with their kid to the bitter end.

>>156131074
Yeah we could kind of pity them for being dumbass hicks. But that doesn't change that Nisha and Pavi suffer for their crappy parenting choices.
>>
>>156131665
>I'm on Team They Should Have Run Faster.
I just find that position heartless without more information to justify it. From her interactions with others, especially Karthik and Pavi, we see Nisha is a very human little girl, not a monster. I'm just skeptical what they can show us that can truly reconcile the Nisha we know and the Nisha her parents feared so much they had to flee in the night. Unless their point is just that Karthik is simply that good of an influence on her.
>>
>>156131762

>>156131811
Yeah i'm in agreement. The adults were just retarded. Could've just lied and say go back to bed, we need to get Pavi some doctoral help, drug them both with sleeping medicine if it help, start heading back with Nisha to not anger this supposed godlike entity they're all afraid of and then wait for the White Lotus or try again later.
BUT NOOOOOO, we have to have a moment where I call you out for being volatile and dangerous to get you into a volatile and dangerous state. Dad is retarded, mom is complicit.
>>
>>156131811
I believe what people are ignoring is that the parent's don't believe Nisha is intentionally a threat. Even in the face of her rampage her father pointed out it was her destructive powers that they were terrified of. I also think people are believing that being separated from Pavi is the only possible trigger for NIsha to unintentionally cause mayhem. Aang merely burned Katara and panicked. Nisha was hurling much greater fireballs and collapsing the Earth. That alone would be terrifying even before she went anomaly happy.

Also Geet is part cat, and cats are already serial killers. That means nothing.
>>
>>156131857
And? Korra got soft canceled and regulated to online streaming only. Maybe they'll just give up on the show and release all the seasons at once. Honestly, I would have given it a chance but it looks so ugly.

If they lock in and tighten the writing, I could see two chakras in 13 eps.

Multi-episode storylines in ATLA:
> Boiling Rock (2 eps)
> Day of Black Sun (2 eps)
> Sozin's Comet (4 eps)
> Siege of the North (2 eps)
> Winter Solstice (2 eps)

And all of those arcs covered more ground in 2-4 episodes than ASH has covered in 13. Damn.

Omashu and Kyoshi Island were memorable, lived-in locations within 2-3 episodes.

"The Guru" blitzed through all the chakras in like one episode. Yeah the Anomalies are more of an external conflict, but each Anomaly does not need to stretch out 13 episodes.

>>156131835
The father is deadset on getting the fuck out of there. The mother is still conflicted but even she sides with the father. As for whether the truth, when revealed, can be considered justified or not, I'll just point out that that will depend on the individual. Some people will never accept what was done, regardless. I think this thread indicates just that.

They are free to their opinion. I mean everyone on either end of this argument.

Similarly the boyfriend, or I guess ex-boyfriend now, and Kayoko's behavior will be hard to square away. Kayoko straight up killed a man to feed his fear to an unstable energy mass. It was speculated in a previous thread that the Affliction may be transmissible from person to person. Whatever energy it is can pass like static shock. They may not go full red eye but their fears are still artificially being amped up. The theory is the red eye guard who first witnessed the Avatar loose in Ellora passed the affliction to Kayoko when he held her hostage. Since then fear has been growing in her, explaining her increasingly unhinged behavior.

Whether that will be the case or not, I do not know. I do suspect that even if it is the case some people still won't be able to forgive her. Or the ex who could arguably have been allficted as well from the same guard.

Yes, as someone who isn't a pedo, I find the twins' designs to be ugly. That can be ignored, but the rest of the show looks just as ugly, and the clips of animation I've seen look bad as well.

The problem is that each chakra is in a whole new haven, so every arc is gonna be pulling double duty of introducing a new location and resolving the chakra itself. It can be done, but this first arc doesn't inspire confidence.
>>
>>156131965
That arguably depends. Does he have reason to fear someone is both capable of that level of destruction and unleashing that level of destruction? These are two different things, after all. It's been a focus in the franchise since Aang first learned about firebending. Fire is destructive, especially if misused or uncontrolled, but fire is by itself not inherently bad.

between seasons, i need to write up a fanfic about jae and pavi together, and then they start fucking as pavi hits puberty over the next couple years.

the modern audience will go crazy, not only cause pavi is underage, but also because it would be 'queerwashing' jae.
>>
>>156132019
I don't think that's really the question at hand. Yeah, Nisha was massively dangerous and they were right that they weren't equipped to handle that. Sending her to the White Lotus was the right move. The problem is all execution. And the anger the father shows does no favors for him.
>>
>>156131981
The affliction as an infection is possible, but it is also possible that just being in that area with the fear based anomaly is enough. The guard who witnessed Nisha performing multiple types of bending was terrified but his eyes were still normal. After he admits he saw the Avatar to Datu his eyes briefly flash red and by the next episode he's gone red eye. He's not, however, full red eye in that he's still slightly in control over his actions unlike the other people who have collapsed in fear and need to be hospitalized.

So far the only known sources of red eye are being hit by the red lightning or having pieces of the anomaly crystal embedded in your body. How the guard became afflicted is still unknown. It's possible level of fear may spontaneously trigger it. I'm leaning towards this, same as I suspect the crystals were spreading due to the fear of the townsfolk. The anomaly isn't just fear, and it doesn't just react to people's fear, it's fed by it.

This is what leads me to dismiss the idea that it's just Pavi's chakra that is blocked up. It's clearly a problem with the world itself.
>>
nisha's fear caused the affliction to exist
pavi can energybend the anomaly (and by association, the affliction) away
the only person that can save all the people in elora just fucked off to go surfing until nisha learns how to do it herself
>>
>>156132135
I can understand that question not being on everyone's mind, but I do not think it is entirely irrelevant. Similarly what some see as anger others may see as determination.

I do because I do not see him being mad at Nisha directly. Even when she was dangerous bending around them he didn't blame her. He never said Nisha was too dangerous, he said her power was. I think this is a man who is able to make the distinction that the daughter he loves still has an ability that is threatening all their lives.

The simple fact is that there were no good options in this entire mess. The actions they took had disastrous consequences, but it didn't necessarily have to play out this way. If Nisha hadn't woken up, if she hadn't been able to find them, it would be a moot point. The plot dictated tragedy. This could have easily been the case if they had stalwartly insisted on remaining together and something still triggered Nisha or she tried to show what she could do, perhaps in the attempt to calm her parents, but she lost control.

For myself, I still find it curious that the anomalies apparently only happen when Pavi and Nisha are together. There was three years without a peep from them until after Pavi and Nisha met again in the courtyard. If whatever happened in the past made the parents believe the twins being in close proximity was drawing the anomalies then separating them is clearly the best choice. The way it was done is contingent (to me) on the anomalies reacting badly to Nisha, or centering on her, as opposed to Pavi. They left with the daughter who wasn't a potential threat to everyone around her.

I wonder if this has to do with what the faceless queen discovered. Pavi's chakra points are a mess, but Nisha is overflowing with spirit energy. That being the case, the anomaly may be drawn to Nisha's energy like a magnet.
>>
>>156132254
To be fair to her, we don't know if Pavi can "bend" the Allfiction out of people. I do agree this will most likely be the case, like Korra fixing Bending stolen by Amon. At this point in time, however, Pavi is simply following the path the spirit world laid out for her, both with a vision of the floating settlement and an actual path written in the sky.

I do hate that they separated the twins at this point, especially because Nisha's arc isn't clear at all compared to Pavi's. I liked it better when it seemed the girls had to work together to fix the world, but they decided to make Pavi solo it. I really hope this isn't foreshadowing Nisha being on a villainous trajectory, but I'm seeing some people are leaning that way.

>He never said Nisha was too dangerous, he said her power was.
His dialogue really doesn't draw that distinction clearly. He just says "I won't let her destroy our family", not "I won't let her *power* destroy our family." I really wouldn't pin your whole point on such an ambiguity. Is there a previous line I'm forgetting where he's clearer?

Then she'd just be freaking out alone until Karthik showed up. It's just punting off the thermonuclear potato to a complete stranger who doesn't know the girl at all. At best you can hope he has some magical White Lotus way to handle her avatar powers, but that's not a safe bet at all.

I'm not entirely convinced. First, they said it would only have 26 episodes. And now it's 4 seasons. But they didn't say "it will only have 4 seasons and no more." That doesn't rule out the possibility that they might later change their minds and give us more than 4 seasons.

He knows Avataring in general, or he's supposed to, being in the White Lotus. It's like the difference between going to a trained medical professional and you just treating your own problems. One is clearly better than the other. If it involves leaving her with the hospital for an indeterminate time period that's rough, but still better.

Also don't ask AI to be your "trained medical professional". It just isn't. At all. Period.

ATLA holds up well still, twenty years later. Some of Aang's antics at the beginning of book 1 can be a bit goofy watching it today, but I think it's clear that the tone and quality of the characters and story were much more superior, mature and compelling that Korra or Seven Gayvens

they are being the typical "self important adult" trope of not caring about something so meaningless as that. it isnt useful for her being an avatar so it doesnt equate into anything for them other than a slightly bothersome roadblock

With the time to reflect, would Unalaq be happy Korra kept the portals open even though he lost?
>>
>>156132969
Aang was a master at 12. He just didn’t even realises he was the avatar because he never bothered to bend the elements. Once he did realise he managed to learn the other 3 competently enough to defeat the fire lord before turning 13. Korra was able to end 3 elements at a young age but incredibly poorly. The most we see of her bending as a kid was moving a puddly, knocking down a small wall, and shooting a little puff of fire. After that she literally spent over a decade just training with master to learn her skill. Pavi and Nisha are only ever shown being shit at bending. They rarely get into fights, only really using their bending to run away or for utility. It’s only at the very end when Pavi does her super saiyan thing that she seemingly becomes good at bending, and we can just chalk that down to being a once of avatar asspullery like all the times aang entered the avatar state without knowing how or why.
