How can I blend in with normies? Most of the time I don't even know what the F my friends are talking about. What do you mean "slay"??? "He ate"??? What the F did he eat??? And why is everyone staring down at their phone while we're hanging out?????

I won't make a Tiktock or other social media thing, no thank you, I have been living well without them. I am 24 years old by the way. It's very embarrassing that I'm always asking them what they're talking about or what they're referencing sometimes.

Or should I just keep being myself and not focus on understanding them at all? I could always just ask

you should just be yourself. it takes all kinds to make a world or something like that. if your friends are actually your friends then they'll understand and won't mind explaining things to you if you ask (and will at most poke a teeny bit of fun at you for being terminally offline).

Ok thank you and it really is better to keep being myself, butz the thing is, I am not terminally offline, I do use the internet a lot (somewhat), I browse this website, I use IRC to talk to people, sometimes email interesting people I come across, and I even do check some of my friends' X accounts using an alternative frontend although not a lot anymore since Nitter was sued and I use another one, very rarely

my bad for assuming that, this isn't really about being offline or not, it's more about the environment you grew up in and the people you've previously surrounded yourself with

It's ok!! I didn't grow up with a lot of internet, just enough for me to discover this board and other websites and communities and software
