how do i help my sister?

she wakes up every day at 4am because it makes her feel good about herself, but then doesn't go outside and just stays at home. we're both in university but she just studies at home. what perplexes me is she admits she likes studying at home, but she also has trouble doing any coursework. she says she's just generally "studying" at home all day, but not doing any work on her actual university courses. yes you understood that right. she has some other issues too.

she's always telling me how she's optimizing her life and doing personally useful things (big copes), but she refuses to actually study and at this point i think she's bound to drop out. she also very likely has social anxiety and anxiety is her main reason why she's afraid of going to lectures. we have entirely different majors so i can't really come with her to ease her anxiety, although when i offered anyway she didn't seem very interested.

i can't just call a therapist on her, how do i make her realize she needs help when she seems to enjoy/accept being this way? i won't force her but i think she'll regret all this 5-10 years later.

Take her to uni with you, I'm assuming you both go to the same one, even if she goes online have her actually go to school and find a club to join too. Put slight pressure on doing that for her resume. Take her to a makerspace and do something with her. She doesn't have to talk to people but her comfortable being around them. Go to tutoring with her if you have to. It'll be a lot of babying at first but slowly you'll either see her ease into it or retreat. If she retreats and fails her courses then she's not uni material. If she actually tries and improves, help her keep that momentum. But you have to get her to actually socialize having in mind that you want her to be able to provide for herself without you

    ty for the advice!
we actually do go to uni together occasionally, mainly to eat lunch together or study in the library. but even there she seems to do this "general studying" thing of hers where she won't do any course work and just studies based on random free books she finds, even if they are in her field/related to it. i truly don't get it and she kinda shuts down the convo if i try to talk about it, or admits it's weird but won't change anything she does.
i think i'll have to see about some open lectures where i could ask her to come with me. maybe uni clubs as well but desu i think the chance of her trying those even with me is under 1%.

Find a professional one for her major and have her go to it regularly. As for studying, my sister was like that until I told her she needed to go to tutoring, otherwise she would just stare at her work for hours. If she has her homework give her a timeline to get it done and if she doesn't have her go to office hours. She might just be overwhelmed and never really learned how to study in hs so its biting her in the ass rn, except she doesnt see how serious it is for her to get good marks. In my campus we have study resources where the office gives you a test so you know how you best learn and help you learn how to do cornell notes and shit. Maybe you have something similar that can help her. But you need her to get on it asap because the longer you just watch her sit there the harder it'll be for her to actually do it and the more depressed and demotivated she'll be.

Good luck anon, I hope she's responsive and knows you come from a good place when you offer help.
