is a community college programming course a bad idea? it's 6 semesters
What's the destination on this proposed car ride?
I'm going to bed but I don't think it's that good of an idea if you are just going to lrn2code. There are many free resources online and the only reason to go to take a programming course is to understand the software development process behind it or if you flat out have never done it before, and even then I think one or two courses should suffice. Once you learn basic concepts in something easy like python, you can transfer a lot of those skills over and it just becomes syntax. 85% of actual coding is just parsing data, the last 15% of it is efficiency and all of the fancy stuff. Plus you're asking at a time where companies openly just use AI to vibecode. I don't even think knowing the code behind machine learning is that important at this point.

>>35051283learn to code>>35051319can't teach myself>>35051333i dont want a job, i'm not really allowed to have important career
>>35051496> i dont want a jobNot that anon but this changes the entire thread. If you just want to go get better at your hobby and this act isn’t going to financially wreck you then why not? Lots of people do this. Middle aged moms sometimes take photography classes at community college because it’s cheap and gets them way better pictures of their kids at soccer practice.I know a guy who went to community college to learn welding just ‘cause. He actually does work but not as a welder. Just really wanted to know how to do that, I guess.
just learn it online. start with freeCodeCamp on youtube, go through the playlists and watch the videos that are related to what you want to do/learn. make sure you are applying or at least practicing what you are learning through projects or leetcode, hackerrank etc. you can watch lectures and work out worksheets for the popular courses on MITOpenCoursware if you want to learn computer science (theoretical side of things). keeping up with the trends and shrewd awareness is very important. remember to take rest. there are very few good books and you may ever need only a few but they provide depth.

>>35052117community colleges make me feel a certain way that other places dont
>>35052184Being self taught is very important to people who are self taught and you’ll never convince them that it isn’t the best way. Very very few people who are self taught could ever actually pass even a community college exam with the same resources students get. Some can but most of them simply feel like they’re self taught and know a lot because they spend a lot of time self teaching. That doesn’t mean they learned anything or can do anything that actually means anything, though.
>>35052186i don't care about any of that. now i just want to know why community college feels like disney land but university doesn't, and also what's up with jobs? sometimes that feels like who's line is it anyway
