As a kid I was never allowed to hang out with anyone because my mom always said she was just about to serve dinner. I'd come home from school and say "Jimmy wants to hang out in the creek" and my mom would say "You need to have dinner!" then I'd eat it and she'd say "it's too late now your dinner took too long".

Eventually I asked her when dinner would be so i could either go out before or after but there was always an excuse

>Your dinner will be ready early
>It's just taking a bit of time
>Just 20 minutes!!!
>Oh it took two hours? Well these things take time
>Now it's too late, but at least you got dinner!

If I ever tried to call her out and say the dinners always take way longer, she just gets mad and says I'm not grateful for dinner because other kids don't get dinner in Africa n shit. But I was jealous of the kids that could have friends and play outside because their dinner didn't take the whole night.

Now that I'm an adult and trying to stay in touch with my dad, I'm never allowed to talk to him because it's always "dinner" at my houshold. Whenever I call my dad he says "sorry, your mom says dinner is almost ready I can't talk" or "just about to have dinner". Then after dinner he says it's too late and my mom wants them to go to bed.

I know my dad feels the same way because when my Uncle (his brother) visited the city he tried to spend time with him but my mom just said "Sorry Uncle, we have to get home because we have to get ready for dinner!"

I realize now this is a social tool of control. Because of this human ritual nobody is allowed to do anything after work/school... people are just confined to the kitchen for hours because "we have dinner!"

And obviously you're not allowed to get your own dinner or eat your own food because "ANON WE HAVE DINNER AT HOME!" so that's off the table.

Your mom abusing a good thing doesn't make the good thing bad or evil. Dinner is still good. Just have your dad over for dinner and heal together.

I don't have the problem that you have with dinner and just like the other guy said, your mom fucked you up. Every mom fucked somebody up on something specific and your mom fucked you up on dinner. The dinner did nothing wrong, your mom did something wrong. You need to reset your relationship to dinner.

But you're probably 15 so just suck it up dude then move out when you turn adult

It's the 21st century, men/people need to realize that bad mothers are everywhere and the root of societies ills. Your mother is jealous and terrritorial and doesn't want you to have friends or relationships with anyone but her. She resents you for stuff you did when you were a toddler and that she had to repress her urge to smother/strangle you to death every time you cried for years and years. She feels entitled to emotionally incest you forever since dad left.
tl;dr: Emotionally detach from your mother. Never expect anything from her, never expect her to grow or mature or listen to reason. Move out and politely visit or call her once a month, treat her like a dementia patient.

You just had a weak cuck father and a bitch of a mother. You yourself were weak as well, for listening to her. You should have just 360ed and moonwalked back out the door to hang out with your friends, even if there were repercussions. I realized it too late, and it's kind of fucked up, but just like women in general respect men that are unpredictable and do whatever they want, your mom would have eventually capitulated after enough times of you walking out the door.

I'd put it in slightly less harsh terms but this. Mothers are still women at the end of the day, and as hard as that might be to accept thanks to the negatives we know about women.
I think my mom is a good mom all things considered, but looking back like any human she was far from perfect and did as others said fuck me up in some ways.

The point of life is not to worship your mother and make her happy even at your expense. You should still love and honor your mother, but just like a wife you still love and honor you need to have a degree of detachment, I agree.
