After decades isolated from everyone, I sent a letter to my extended family giving them my contact info and inviting them to coffee because I was feeling lonelyNow I'm regretting it, and dying of anxiety waiting for a phone call. The letter should be arriving about now. Should I pretend I made a mistake while writing the number and just not answer? How do I get out of this situation?>inb4 don't you want to meet your family?I do, I just don't want to go through the anxiety and the possible judgement and disapproval. I don't even own a coffee machine lol
>>35033350It’s gonna be fine. It’s a nice gesture to reach out to them. If there’s isn’t any bad feud between you and them it seems pretty normal
That’s adorable anon
>>35033350>possible judgement and disapproval. Those who show up will be eager and happy to connect with you. Those who might judge and disapprove won't show up
>>35033389there's a bad feud between my parents and them, but there also is a bad feud between me and my parentsalthough they might not see it that way>>35033399social anxiety isn't cute. also I'm 29, so way past what might be considered cute>>35033420idk man, sometimes people just like to contact you just to make fun of you
>>35033399Guys don't like to be called that.
help? sunday is ending, and they'll probably receive the letter on monday because it's a working day for the deliveryman
I also think that only those who have genuinely good interest are more likely to reach out, and I also think you did a good gesture by giving an option of having contact with your family. You did good anon. From here, the worst thing that can happen is that you will see some or one of them, it won't go well, and you won't contact them again, meaning it will be the same as if you hadn't sent the letter. And if that happens because they choose to be negative towards you, that's entirely on them, not you, and you were the better man for extending the opportunity to have an open channel, so fuck 'em.But honestly it will probably be fine, if someone does reach out, it will probably be because they understand that it's a good thing to try and maintain contact with family members, as long as that's possible, and they will try their best.
>>35034757>meaning it will be the same as if you hadn't sent the letter.no it won't. my self esteem will be damaged and my chances of having a goo relationship with them will be forever broken, unlike right now when there's still a chance
>>35035848>having a goo relationshipYuk
anyway, nobody called, so making this thread was useless. I'll never try this again
Man just buy Starbucks or something it's a nice gesture they'll appreciate it. Just send one of them a text or something seeing if they got it and if they didn't, just ask them about the other family members and see if they even open their mail. Some people don't. Some people change numbers especially after decades. Talk to the most social family member you know, they'll get ya connected. Also, don't give up after 1 day seems like you want an excuse to stay antisocial bc it's comfortable. You need socialization as a mammal, let alone the most social animals human beings. It's critical for your health.
