Skateboarding is a time consuming hobby that can be pretty frustrating for anyone that doesn't put any thought into what they're doing.

As much as people like to say that it is a sport, it isn't and is much more like a toy that has physical and creative components to it.

I've never seen people saying what i'm about to say but the best way to approach skateboarding is from the lens of seeing every aspects of it as a bunch of small puzzles that requires creative thinking.

Knowing how to stay stable and at ease on your board(not only while rolling on regular flatground at different speeds but also while rolling down a hill, bank or transition), learning how to do tricks from different categories(flip, grind/slides, manual/nose manual, lip, freestyle, etc) and everything in between is its own set of challenges that all contributes to mastery of skateboarding.

Anyone that has watched trick tip videos before probably has already heard a thousands of times that in order to do a fs flip, you need to have good ollies, good kickflips and good frontside 180 down and then you just place your foot however the way they show it in the video then just combine kickflip and fs 180 and boom you magically have them down as easily as doing kickflip and fs 180.

As much as that sounds logical and has some truth to it, it isn't quite how it works. It does help to know how to do both on their own but fs flip is its own thing and you will have to figure out the time for every individual component of the trick in order to be able to have them down. That's what i mean by "a bunch of small puzzles that requires creative thinking". The better you get at it, the easier it gets.

Havent skated in four years, so the deck is just a cheap ccs 8.0 real tree collab deck from Amazon and some shake junt tape bc I fuck with my man beagle like you wouldn't know. The wheels were some spitfire 52mm (probably 40mm now) I bought from the "freaky" skate shop in manresa spain in like 2018ish. I originally had bones swiss in them, but switched them out with shake junt triple ogs in like 2020ish maybe. The trucks are 8.0 ventures I got in 2015 or 2016 at the skatopia bowl bash. Someone hucked a creature complete in the woods while I was having religious experience shitting drunk off my ass leaning against a tree. I put some bones bushings in them at some point I think. I'm still knocking off the cobwebs and not even half of those are as clean or poppy as I want especially the switch stuff, my switch 180s I cheat a little bit with reverts. I'm trying to get my heelflips, tre flips, bs 360s, boneless bs 360s, blunt slides, and nose slides back on lock. Plus I've been trying varial heels and inward heels a bunch too and they're very close. I could never kickflip when I was younger but I could heelflip. I didnt have the best form instead of kick off the nose with my heel and getting a lot of vertical height on it, I was cutting off the side of the toe side rail with the like gum edge of the sole of my shoe. Which made a fast heelflip but it was practically on the ground and not very consistent. Back then I couldn't figure out the body mechanics of a kickflip, but my buddy showed me varial kickflips because I was really good at pop shuvits. I learned them, then learned tre flips and big spins and 360 shuvs in about two months. But after that I could never varial kickflip again and I've never once been able to land a normal straight non rotating kickflip. I just recently watched a guy explain how he "flips" with his knee, and opens up his hip that hes flicking with, and I tried that the other day and got a ton of flick like more flicka nd more consistent than ever before.
