What are the pros and cons of both?
You're already vama-marga according to hindoos if you eat meat, have sex with your hand, curse at anyone.
>>43151007Or, you know, stop thinking in terms of duality.
>>43151032What ... how the fuck am I supposed to stay on the job otherwise?!
>>43151007>Social conventionsI don't think either have anything to do with society in that way. Being a contrairan does not equal beign a left hand path follower. But even then the paths in general are kind of stupid. Like you shouldn't be thinking of them as some absolute stance that must reject anything that's not on your path. And making a choice based on what might await you at the 'final part' of the paths is stupid too considering said journey would be so crazily long and change you so much you'd hardly be the same you to even get to that part. Just don't worry about it and do what you want without needing some dumb premade ruleset or path.
>>43151007They are literally the same thing, just using different props to achieve their desired goal.
>>43151320>the wanderer thinks he's on his own path

>>43151032Do you have to be a brahmin or a yogi to be right hand path
>>43154882the only path that will take you down is the nearest designated shitting street, Rajesh
>>43154882Yogis can do both things. Yogi is about unio mystica, meanwhile a brahmin is like a priest, much like the catholic priests they can't have sex, can't drink, can't curse, can't do most yogi things. But literally anyone can be right-hand-path, meaning right or wrong. People throughout history have always viewed the right hand side as right and the left hand side as wrong, it's because most people are right handed. To be left-handed you need specifics, for example sinister used to mean left-handed lol at that. However in china for example it used to be the opposite, because the ruling class was left-handed, then the left got associated with better things. It's about appealing to your subconscious or a form site-fidelity as I understand it, that's not the cool answer but it just is. People who've grown left-handed, thought left was superior, and thought right was inferior. People are generally like this, which is why stuff like svadharma fulfilling-self-duty exists.

>>43151007What >>43151549 said. The goal of both is spiritual attainment/awakening/realization/liberation. Neither is "evil" and they don't have anything to do with "individualism" vs "selflessness" or "white" vs "black" magic. Everything Blavatsky said about them was wrong. Vamachara isn't about egoism, individualism, "black magic", or "dark"/"sinister" practices. It is unconventional or "heterodox" in a sense, but this doesn't mean "libertinism" or "do what you want", either. Like Dakshinachara it requires devotion, discipline, and strict adherence to practice and ritual, all under the guidance of a guru. The purpose is the dissolution of the duality between "pure" and "impure" so that the seeker understands the oneness of all. Like how flies are not dirty or disgusting the way people normally view them but are actually nature's custodians, or how dung fertilizes the soil for plants even if we see it as something filthy. Like Zhuangzi says, the Dao is in the piss and shit. Nothing is closer to the ground of being than anything else, even if we think of it as "filthy".
