What did our mothers mean when they told us never to answer if we heard someone calling our name from an empty room? I think about it often, and to this day, I still haven't understood the meaning behind this kind of superstition.

Basically, entities can't enter your life unless you let them in. So they try to do so in various ways>knocking on doors and windows>calling your name but you know you're alone>trying to get your permission through dreams>you calling for them yourself (rituals etc)When you open the door, say "come in", say "yes?" etc you're giving them permission. If you feel that you fell for some of their tricks, I recommend prayer and saying out loud (firmly) that they're not allowed to be there and they need to get out.

Never heard this one. I do remember my grandma telling me that if I ever gained the power to see the future to not act on it. Which is pretty fucking weird to say to a kid. And my grandma was a super normal lady and christian sunday school teacher
Must be an american thing.
>>43148104Interesting. Its very rare but sometimes I can see the future through dreams. I will dream about something then the exact same thing will happen days or weeks later. That being said, it's something I feel it's completely out of my control. I can't tell apart a regular dream from a dream of a future event until things happen. And when things are happening and I say to myself "holy shit, I had a dream about all this", the events are already in motion and I can't change any of it.It's usually very mundane things, like dreams about a friend telling me his brother got a new job and he's a bit jealous, then days later I'll be sitting there talking to this friend and knowing every word he's about to tell me.
