and thats in the generous cases of us moving first dependent on mindless variety's even if a vampire variety produces lesser ghouls rather than fullblown vampires absent particular conditions vampires always come with kin and knowing the rough stakes of the game a hell of a lot faster than the humans around will and on top of typically being a nasty monster type for base powers alone they are usually sane and aware enough to pick up whatever the wider setting has so likely a character class on any remotely old one.

the book itself offered little other than a series of tests for magical capabilities vampirism itself was likely to awaken and a small number of weak starter spells and various etheric peculiarity's, upkeep and weaknesses that tended to follow certain capability's. altogether a full fifth of the book seemed dedicated to telling the newly turned this stuff was talking entirely literally about a number of new supernatural senses and capability's they may or may not have gotten and the spells were all completely literal in their effects and typical bounds yes sometimes people seem to get an innately better version of a basic spell and attempts to reduce this to replicate-able instructions have generally failed beyond pinning exact extra factors needed to teach the few with these abilitys who failed figuring them out themselves.

the few tomes left behind all seemed to be variants of this same introductory tome tailored to different capability's considered most likely to develop in various different types of vampires or other monsters the tomes themselves seem to avoid saying a number of things explicitly as they seem to admit most occultist schools shill stuff as generally useful as the christian side.
which puts wherever people are getting these powers far too close for comfort and further admits even most of christians enemies are useless dealing with this shit.
a number of the spells match the insane shit the guards sent to capture these people got hit with and a number of these self proffered starter spells are pretty uncomfortable to deal with. the monsters would have had a way better chance standing their ground had they been less certain to escape running likewise that dead school seemed to stick to the blood enough the vampires had a pretty explicit order to wipe it out and send what new kin could be made of them to some bigger secret magic school who even knows where

overall the tests and spell instructions are barely four chapters of a book mostly dedicated to giving some freaked the fuck out presumably former human a run down on how to avoid getting themselves killed, exposed, or avoid direly offending any number of sides of a new magical world presumably far more dangerous than the previous until how easily this new one can have the former die at their convenience comes up and how many reading this will likely be doing just that a lot while determined to give as little concrete info on any of this as possible in blind hope whoever gave the poor sap the book manged to eyeball their actual capabilities even half right.
number of the capability tests end in fairly grim sounding confessions of this assumption failing and probably being in the hands of far too hostile a faction for even the dim hopes of being dumped back on the streets and how they should be looking to book it NOW.

overall very little of use outside whatever poor saps these are meant for having found any of these outside right with the exact people they talk about likely would have marked them at most as a bit more effort and originality in fake magic books than usual knowing them genuine just hammers in magic as a have or lack thing way the books talk most will figure at least one spell instinctively and wider testing is for typical ranges of deficiency or gift in order to parse a students general magic potential as quickly as possible.

very little in use outside that beyond a number of typical signs of this coming on section that seems to be a formality of the scribe as vampires are given a pretty sharp indication of their new lease on life right out the gate and the section mentions this oddly explicitly along a number of signs of the turning process gone badly clearly intended for the distributor rather than student.
