Im digging some sprinkler pipes and found two L bend pipes connected to each other before connecting to a 3" pipe and then a sprinkler head. Is there a reason for two Ls? I broke one of the L bends so I have to fix it.
Pic related but pretend both ends are threaded.

You could take a picture of your broken stuff...
My random guess is they wanted to shift the sprinkler over an inch

Yeah it sounds like somebody needed it to be offset, or somebody ran out of the exact part they wanted but didn't want to drive to Lowes.

I guess it makes sense. I thought maybe there might've been a function reason like it serves as a breakpoint rather than location or wrong parts.
