But the world is also somewhat medieval-styled which is the time period where populations were very non-dense and armies were tiny (compared to antiquity, let alone modernity), so getting a 10,000 strong army of even normal people seems absurd, let alone one of trained hero classes. Plus, if you can do it (or a portion of it, like sending maybe 500 mages or something) couldn't your opposing nation just do the same?
