i boughted itwho do i play as
>>2512354is this ai
>>2512356Can pirate the dlc even with the base game dummy
How is it legal for paradox to sell unfinished products like this? Doesn't Europe have laws against this?
>>2512360>Paradox makes EU5>Paradox makes EU>EUJohan literally runs the continent, they are at the mercy of his whims.
>>2512363Johan... I fucking KNEEL.
>expedition gets bugged and lasts until the heat death of the universefucking epic johan
Some positive reviews I read are people stating that "QoL improvements are good" which is something that came with the free update, "at least they are not paywalling mechanics" which is something they shouldn't do anyways, and some retard stating that "people with zero hours played are giving it negative reviews" (his positive review had also zero hours played)Seems like Ryagy himself passed by and left this gem:>1.4 patch is the best this game has ever been, and pillars is fantastic if you're looking to play an Iberian nation. Is it expensive? Yes. Welcome to EU, first time?
Cucked game won't even let me marry this uncle-niece pairing, which would unite Castile and Aragon.Ever hear of the Habsburgs, buddy?
Unironically how do you make money early game, at least enough to not go into a debt spiral?
>>2512372What's really baffling is almost every review with high play time I see is mad about removing hourly ticksLiterally who gave a shit about hour ticks?Battles are slower now if anything, what even is the problem?I can't even say "they didn't play the game" because it's like 500 hour reviews as proven by steam, do they just afk in 1337 minmaxing their masonry?
>>2512367
>>2512377Delete all forts. AI does this as well now. It's going to stay this retarded until the siege rework in 1.5.
>eu45,400 in game>eu5>4,100 in gameThey're calling it the most over it's ever been, ever.
>>2512394>jumping straight to 2.0 patch after the next DLCwhere have I seen this before?
>>2512403God, if only.I wonder what the inevitable fix everything and make the game GOATed mod will be called.Imagine Grandi pulls the epicest one ever and makes EUV:HPM
>>2512387hourly ticks was retarded for how long the game spans
>>2512408I liked them at war, added to the LARP and immersion, made the game feel more grand. It feels more cartoony and gamified with daily ticks. But the performance gains are fully worth removing them.My ultimate preference would be adding March of the Eagles/Victoria 3 style 4 tick days, that would be a nice compromise.
>10k peak/3k minimum players ON RELEASE DAY>youtubers paid by paradox to shill the game are visibly bored/annoyed with the game, doing the bare minimum>4 twitch streams with a grand total of 12 viewers, yes 12 not 12k, ON DLC RELEASE DAY (yes I know it's not peak euro hours but still)Whew, I knew EU5 was going in the shitter for a very long time but I didn't expect tinto to be this incompetent
>>2512421>>youtubers paid by paradox to shill the game are visibly bored/annoyed with the game, doing the bare minimumGeneralist actually said "okay guys, I'm finishing my stream now, but you can just go and watch all the other streamers playing the game." The chat immediately told him no one else was, and so he checked it and found out it was true. Then he said "Damn, that's actually crazy. They're allowed to as well, I wonder why they're not."Streamers won't even take the free views anymore, that's how much they dislike playing the game.Every day we get one step closer to it being abandoned and the modders engoodening it.
>>2512424What really? Wow, the writing must really be on the wall then, if even the rats are abandoning ship.
>>2512387i liked the hourly ticks for combat and movementperformance gains dont matter to me i never play on speed 5 anywaymaybe they should focus on fixing the game freezing on the monthly tick or anytime you hover a sub menulike any time you interact with a character past early game. or go into trade or building menus, the game just freezes up for several seconds, and it only gets worse and worse with time1600+ is unplayable because of thatfucking speed 5 tick speed in observer games is literally the most useles fucking metric everbut they dont play their own game so its what we get
>>2512354>i just want eu5 to be goodnow it's in a pretty good state
EU5 is a much better game than EU4 in theory.
theory being the key word
>>2512434Yes.In practice?Not yet.
>>2512434EU5 will always be a dog turd because Johan in his infinite wisdom decided to copy paste the industrialization-based economy from victoria 3 (an incredibly successful game that had only the best ideas) and now we have the industrial revolution in the 14th century. And it's so ingrained into the game it can never be changed.
>>2512435>>2512436way to ruin a witticism by explaining it
>>2512438It could easily be changed, were one so willing. There was a mod that moved the start date of Victoria 2 back to the 17th century, and the economy basically just stayed dead until the 19th century. You could do the same in EU5, and have the economy only explode in the age of revolutions, but at that point it would have no appeal as a game.
>>2512440if you disable the cookie clicker building level bullshit then there is nothing left
>>2512441They could make it so pops don't assimilate and can't be moved with wizard spells, at which point it becomes a realistic early modern population simulator.
Why are there so many doomers around this game? It's got a bright future. They just released 2.0's OST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoPPpe6ikKE&t=874
>>2512424I saw Lambert was playing it but he was the only other one I did see least on TouTube. Rest like Ludi just uploaded update breakdown videos or country guides and called it a day
So has 1.4 or anything before it done anything to mitigate the issue where your massive doomstack can be totally wiped out by a much smaller force in an instant from moral?at the very least if they are going to make running out of moral so potentially punishing could they give an option to tell armies to only move fast enough to maintain a little moral?
>>2512411At the very least 2 tick days so there's day and night, fucking baffling that afterworld isn't doing thisStill I will take daily over hourly
>>2512470Oh come on there's a lot to criticise in 5 but "my exhausted demoralised army got wiped out because I couldn't let them rest for a bit" is fully on you.
>>2512472It's frustrating though because it wasn't so extreme on launch i'm pretty surebut I would be fine with it is there was some slower march option to avoid it instead of having to micromanage movement
>>2512472its unrealistic
>>2512481It's not unrealistic but IRL commanders would not run their armies ragged unless they were Napoopan.
>>251248415000 troops wouldn't get stackwiped irl by 25 peasants because they just marched for a week
>>2512351>>2512496
>>2512421>youtubers paid by paradox to shill the game are visibly bored/annoyed with the gameOnly one I know that voice their frustration is Quarbit, he might be the only one that managed to maintain a consistent quality when switching from eu4 to eu5, what's hilarious is that he doesn't upload that many eu5 videos lmao.
>>2512486By the end of the Russian campaign the Grand Armee was mass surrendering to anyone in a uniform same as the Germans at the end of the wars. It simulates a shattered army in hostile territory being pursued I've never had it fire if I'm sending my army on a gentle stroll through friendly Italian countryside.
>I TRIED SO HARD. AND GOT SO FAR
>>2512439not the same anons brochadoo
>>2512421>>2512424Jesus christ, this game really is going to end up abandoned, isn't it? I imagine 2.0 is going to be the final update at this point
>>2512502Nope, there were still battles and skirmishes being fought to the end
>>2512518EU6 will save the genre.
>>2512421>>youtubers paid by paradox to shill the game are visibly bored/annoyed with the game, doing the bare minimumOne of the things I have noticed is that even the youtubers that used to upload nothing but EU IV have branched out to other stuff. Lemon Cake, Red Hawk and Quarbit started making videos on other games or even went back to play Anbennar.
>>2512526legends of total war will return as an eu5 main
>>2512529kekI still find it hilarious he attempted to pivot to pdx games and somehow held it up as the better more pro consumer company.
>>2512526>Red HawkThis nigga plays with the automatic builder and if he ever builds something manually he just focuses in the green number, I don't think you will ever see him addressing prices variations because of shortages or overproduction. His videos have some entertaining value but are useless if anyone wants to learn the game.
>>2512532pdx are actually more consumer friendly than ca, pdx are unfortunately also retarded and incompetent
>>2512535>he just focuses in the green numberHe is playing optimally by doing that. GreenGODS keep winning.
>>2512532>and somehow held it up as the better more pro consumer companywell it is, CA is evil
>>2512421As someone who due to their YouTube algorithm has watched way to many Paradox streamers over the years EU5 is genuinely the worst of them all to have to watch. I'm not saying its the worst to play yourself but to look at a screen of someone playing at below medium speed its the equivalent of uploading videos of paint drying. It must be murder for viewer retention.
>Make huge "battle for the strait" scenario for your DLC>No reason to engage with it rather than just conquering Granada by force>Slap massive war score modifier on Granada so you can't take it by force and have to go through the situation insteadThis is the gayest shit. All other land in the game can be conquered through normal conquest, but this specific region is now under its own rules.
>>2512567honestly funny how reconquista is ruined by dlc shit both in ck3 and eu5
4 ticks per day (morning, day, evening, night) are perfect for this game, big mistake on their part for going 1 tick 1 day>but muh pahfourmance!!!Either stop being a poorfag or stop playing at speed 5 (ideally both)
>>2512580Having day ticks and slower army movement speed and battle is better for the game. In the previous iteration it was virtually impossible to reinforce a battle.Sure it's not realistic but it makes for a better game.
>>2512567I was wondering if they would add some retarded event that would make conquering Iberia an annoying endeavor in a completely unnatural and annoying way, which would cause the player to try to avoid said event/situation. Glad to see that only one of these things is happening.
>>2512532A fucking guillotine is more pro consumer than CA
>>2512580Four ticks is retarded and so are you, they either learn to code properly and do hourly ticks for better immersion or do daily ticks to hide their incompetence.
>>2512573Dunno if you've played goi4 but if you haven't, you'd be delighted to know that the Spanish Civil war is the most cancerous, arbitrary and soulcrushing conflict of the game AND yes it was marginally better at release before it got rewoorked by a DLC
>>2512586Even if they could magically avoid all the performance issues, there's still zero reason to have hourly ticks. This is a grand strategy and you are playing as a country, there are simply no actions that could benefit from time being THAT granular. Four ticks is optimal but if claude can't make it performant enough for speed(5)runners then AT LEAST make Day and Night ticks, it would at least affect wars and economy due to most things not happening at night
Oh Claude
>>2512596>you are playing as a countryGo back to work Johan
Is there one (1) youtuber that's neither too much of a casual nor too much of an autistic minmaxer I can learn how to play this game from? Especially the economy and trade?
>>2512604God forgive me for this advice. But honestly I'd just watch one of Ludis country guide videos pay attention to his opening set up and play on low speed that how I relearned the other month.
>>2512596>1 tick everything is as usual>1 tick the game just fucking stops since no country-scale action can progress at night in XV centuryWouldn't this constant flipflopping be kinda retarded? Realistic yes but I don't think it'd add qualitatively to the gameplay, like what does the night tick even do other than wasting both your time and your CPU computing effort
no hourly ticksno play
>So should we playtest the 2 nations we gave content in this DL- MALBEC FIGHT!
>>2512614t.
>>2512584>I was wondering if they would add some retarded event that would make conquering Iberia an annoying endeavor in a completely unnatural and annoying way, which would cause the player to try to avoid said event/situation.I rolled back and stopped patching hoi4 when they added a retarded new version of the Spanish civil war that gave every province a bespoke modifier for like 90% slowermovement speed and 90% less damage done, or something retarded like that
>>2512620no meme arrow means that's you
>>2512615This is hilarious>>2512620Ryagi's mad lol
>>2512614im also trans btw
Hourly ticks in the 1300s is such an insanely stupid idea that I had no idea it was even in the game until they removed it. The mind reels.>t. bought game at launch, waiting for them to stop patching it retardedly before I bother playing it
>>2512357Probably just a minor saints day in Spain
>>2512604yes
>>2512522Lmao
Hourly ticks should be an hidden mechanic that only gets triggered when battles startI wonder if Claude could manage to code such a system
Hourly ticks are amazing. The only problem is that paradox are retards who can't code and claude couldn't fix the performance for them so they ripped the system out instead.
>>2512518>eu5 will be abandoned just as it starts to get goodman, repeating imperator rome scenario 1:1 with eu5 must be johan's nightmare
>>2512642>eu5 will be abandoned just as it starts to get goodAre you playing in the 1.8 patch already?
>>2512642I'd imagine Johan is getting his shit kicked in if 5 fails. This isn't a new project like Imperator failing. This is one of Paradox staple titles crafted in his personal vision at a studio created for that exact purpose crashing to under 3k players less than a year after release.
>>2512642>eu5 will be abandoned just as it starts to get good“Stable, done, and good” is the ideal ending for EU5. A, it’s clear the devs don’t have a coherent vision they’re working towards, and are flailing with random patches and backtracks from listening to retards. B, every Paradox game in the last ten years aside from Imperator was ruined with bloat and patched into the ground. The old 2000s era Paradox where games maybe got 1-2 large expansions and were then left alone was considerably higher quality. Quarterly DLC spam equals doom.
>>2512621Takes literally 2 minutes to mod that shit out, ask claude or something
>>2512650Are you illiterate? I already fixed the problem myself.
>>2512645I think Johan had a good vision desu. The problems are that the people working on EU5 are shitty coders who are also using claude to make it even shittier and that Johan is appeassing the reactionary retards who were never going to like the game. If paradox stood with the original vision and cleaned up the bugs instead of making EU5 into the shit show it is now then at worse EU5 would have had a dedicated niche audience. But they didn't do that. They chased the "le biggest gayme ever" and pleased no one.
>>2512646Not a rule, depends entirely on devs. On one hand, eu4 was already shit at the conception phase and then got progressively worse and worse and worse with every update. On the other hand, Stellaris is old enough to enter university now and is still one of the best pdx games, and probably the only one that actually gets steadily better with time, with even controversial changes eventually turning out to be good. Ck2 received a modern-era number of DLCs yet wasn't ruined by them, ck3 seems to be doing fine too (albeit I'm not playing it so don't quote me on this one). Tinto simply needs to stop listening to retards with the eu4 tumor in their brains and develop according to the vision and philosophy they had started with
>>2512654Claude summarized your comment for him and missed the part where you rolled back.
>>2512636you will have to check in next weeki just ran out of tokens
>no meme arrow means that's you
Why not have minute ticks then? Retards.
Why not remove day ticks and only have month ticks then? Retard.
>>2512518>Ryagi is smoothing things over on /r/eu5 as we speak.>Mein Führer... Ryagi... Ryagi just told them to voice their frustrations in live Q&A threads instead because they're the only way Devs will actually see their feedback and be held accountable...
A 1492 start date and building by province like V2 would have saved the game, I guarantee it.Or just COPY MAYO IN TEXAS 2.0
>>2512535Yeah, that's 90% of the people criticizing EU5. Just filtered EU4 players who literally do not understand the mechanics. They come here to revel in their ignorance and gloat that their glorified risk has more NPC subhuman Ulm WCers.I hate that I'm on the same side of them because I have legitimate criticisms of the game.
>>2512717Where? I'm not seeing it
>>2512604Jadsaman is pretty good. He's incredibly annoying, but in a nasal whiny way instead of the usual clippable catchphrases way.
>>2512719Also it should have obnoxiously loud crane sounds everytime you finish every building.
>>2512724>We would like an answer why another DLC released with very elementary bugs. >It's a complicated topic and not a short answer.>Something I am looking into myself if you want my perspective as there are many variables involved. My advice in general is that the best time to ask this question is during Q&As, on stream, etc. I know they ARE asked there, but don't stop asking.>Answering "live" is different. So I promise the topic will come up again. This is about the most he's allowed to say without losing access to the malbec tap.
>>2512721Sorry if I thought I bought a gsg instead of Poopenfarten Medieval Taxing and Building Simulator
is there anything new in the release compared to the beta?asking for someone who wouldnt play castilleslop or moroccoslop, only aragon or maybe granada
>>2512721Sorry if I thought I bought Poopenfarten Medieval Taxing and Building Simulator instead of a gsg
>attack someone who has an ally on the other side of the planet>said ally will drop everything he was doing and go full totalenkrieg on you, sacrificing everything just to stop you from taking that one province that he has literally 0 (zero) reasons to care aboutDid they fix it in eu5?
granada is unplayable without restarting the first 20 years over and over
>>2512787Welcome back, eu4!
>>2512377Cut excess spending, maximize taxes. Estate satisfaction is extremely good stat so get it off laws and privileges and stuff so you can actually tax them.>>2512470No>>2512472It's a quality of life issue. There's no way where you order your army to move from A to B that it should ever go to 0 morale unless it's like out of food and dying. Game clicks should do what you want them to do. There either should be a morale minimum for movement like 0.5 that prevents meme stacks from killing your massively superior army or the army should actually stop to recharge morale when it hits a certain minimum if they actually think stopping the army every few provinces is the intended mechanic. It's classic case of pointless tedium, the optimal gameplay involves watching the army like a hawk and stopping it every couple provinces just to recharge some morale just in case there's 1 guy in a forest it's just not fun at all. Going the extra mile achieves you nothing and not doing it risks everything, it's not a good trade off.
pardon the HRD brightness, but man they made England piss easy so long as you manage to not ruin your economy.
>>2512796Also, this game pisses me off. What's with all of this useless dead space? This game's UI is so shitty.
>>2512796>pardon the HRD brightnessThere is no way around it isn't it?>>2512797Claude can't into UI, please understand.
>>2512797It's not there on normal resolutions. Just install a mod for meme resolutions.

food goods and "food" being seperate is honestly a retarded design choiceSame with arbitrary caps on how valuable/cheap a good can get, things got 100x cheaper as industrialization kicked off....
Is there a torrent for 1.4? I don't know how to find them these days.
>>2512862The game doesn't cover industrialization

>>2512626U single
>>2512974wait for a plague chud the natives are full
>>2512974Why would that even be added to the game to begin with?Like what was the thought process thereThere's so many of these little arbitrary rules duct-taping the game together I wonder if anyone even knows them all
>>2512986Hangover from 4 and the 999 its a colony 1000 city rule?
>>2512988Isn't the limit 50,000? Nothing even happens at that number, it's just a random numbermaybe it's a balance thing because random african tribes could quintuple their pop by colonizing random jungles with 200k people, but the obvious solution is to make it so unga bungas can't colonize which is already a default game rule so idk
>>2512989you can't insta colonize your own culture anymoreso colonizing those big states takes 300 yearsalso they are tropical/wetlands so you have -90% migration speed or w/e
why is it that the game is a year old and we are currently having to wait almost another year for a 'rework' to colonisation which might manage to bring the entire mechanic into an acceptable state when it should have been important enough for paradox to make it acceptable for the release of the game?why are there bugs that are present have been since releasewhy do we have to wait another year and a half minimum for japan to be fixed and playable
>>2512996There really should be some other mechanic for that, maybe something involving society of pop things, where you "colonize" that kind of land by basically just having a tribal war and forcing them to submit, which turns a few tribesmen into peasants/slaves and moves some of your own guys in and "colonizes" itSame for hordes taking effectively empty land from other hordes, just push out the local tribesmen in favor of yours and change ownership over
>>2512998that goes for literally every core mechanic in the game that was launched in a completely broken state
>>2512998>why do we have to wait another year and a half minimum for japan to be fixed and playableOh that's never happening. Even if this game dosen't get canned they seem to be doing dlc country by country. Can you even guess how far down the list Japan content is?
>>2512998Because the whole project is run through Jira tickets and most of the employees are cheap script monkeys who don't know how to fix any of the bugs, or are currently hard at work creating new ones.Unironically the post about optimizing the game with claude gave me hope, because claude is a way better programmer than your average "content designer" and actually cheaper too, so if they point some agents at the game it might improve really quickly. Also because they listened to feedback too much, they totally redesigned or aribtrarily changed whole chunks of the game because some youtuber made a "IS THIS OP?!" clickbait video during the release month
Am I cooked chat?
>declare war on two sicilies to release hre princes they subjected>tunis randomly intervenes on my side without my consent 2 months in and then instantly fucking commits suicide with his whole navy and gives two sicilies 25 warscore>bohemia and giga england that owns half of france intervenes on side of two sicilies>cant seperate peace them by paying them to fuck off because the cb i used doesnt allow it apparenly>they outnumber us by 5 folds>england is sending 50k englishmen and 50k of their french vassal swarm to siege vienna in 1460s>get raped
>>2513025They gave north african countries these weird galley levies that actually suck and instantly die when put into a battle, so every time Tunis/Morocco join a war and the other side has a navy, that's an instant -25 battle war score for their side as their gallies commit mass suicide.Anyway this is all the fault of the rival system. Actual dogshit. Delete rivals from the game.
>>2513023Aiiiiiieeeee
>>2513023>>2513028
>>2512998Colonization is not a priority in an Age of Discovery game, please understand.
>>2513028I really am going to have to do an England run before they nerf this shit
>>2513022In fairness, half of the game was in a state where it was completely broken and overpowered.
KinoMy first time ever losing in this game
>>2513034Scotland is easy they said. Guess I'll try again and butter up England instead.
With minor character assassinations you can get both portugal and aragon PU'd in 50yrs. You inherit Aragon's PU on Sicily which has been going on for a while so you can press the magic button to get all the cores very fast.So all there is to do early game is to rape grenada and the barbary coast and VGHHHHH big spain.
I think the reason France keeps getting BTFO'd is that the AI cannot manage their vassal loyalty at all.
>>2512998Start date is too early so it's not a priority to fix content that most people never get to. Simple as that.
>>2513035Your defensive fort brother?
Did they change the institution spread in recent times? I'm pretty sure if your location was eligible to spawn institution and it was not chosen, then it would passively grow in that location anyway, without the need of normal market/border spread?
>>2513052Found it, they added game rule in 1.3. "Could have spawned spread" and it's disabled by default sneaky Swedes.

I don't want my pops to starve but i also don't like spending money on fucking legume RGOshow come the peasant buildings provide zero food
>>2513062delete the cache in the documents folder, retard>ck2obsolete garbage far inferior to ck3
Imagine being a French princess, betrothed to the ruler of Aragon, finally your wedding comes, and you sire 3 children. You see each and everyone of them slaughtered in increasingly less convincing accidents. You know full well the King of Castile was responsible, but you can't say anything because your husband is allied to them. You are now barren. You will never live to see your children grow up. But you will live to see the crowns of Castile and Aragon united.
>>2513077Why are you calling me retarded, friendo? Also please understand I am using linux, there is no cache in my documents folder (well there may be in the proton directory)I'll try veriying the integrity of the installed files and trying again but my main complaint is that if the game is in a state where glaring graphical bugs like this are still present then just imagine what kind of "under the covers" bugs must be present as well. It's like imagine walking into a restaurant and you see cockroach on the front door, just imagine what's happening in the kitchen! As for CK3 idk I've not tried it still. My understanding is it's more focused on playing dress up and looking at video game booba while CK2 is more about strategy. EU4 is too "gamey" so I dont enjoy that either.
>>2513077>>2513080Verifying the game files did fix the issue (for now at least)But as I explained I'm still rather skeptical to give this game a fair shot at least in the state it's in. I am really rooting for it but it's clearly not ready for prime time

So, to recap:>they released a DLC focused purely on iberia and north africa>situation only for castile and morocco, aragon just gets powercreep modifierslop>portugal doesn't even get that>NO content for colonization>castile starts with ZERO ships (literally playing the flagship country for one minute would have shown them this)>iberian union's key mechanic to unify spain is broken, requiring exactly 50% of Iberia to take (not over 50%, exactly 50%, "hotfix" not until next week btw>$20 for these two countries' broken flavor pack>content creators aren't even bothering to play anymore>even lambert is criticizing it>playcount down to 3k, thousands lower than eu4 on only the second day after releaserealistically what consequences will johan face for this? surely he can't expect to keep his position?
>>2513101you won't have to suffer that because the game will be cancelled before they get to itit will be a miracle if they get the greenlight to do another season of DLC
>>2513117granada is also involvedtho all iberians and northwest africans have some additional content (don't know if it's part of the update or paywalled under the dlc)
>>2513118will they at least do the 2.0 and make pop countries playable?
>>2513118don't know if the next dlc will be part of a season, they said 2.0 will release with a dlc
they need to release a new startdate after 1368, so they get some chinese bucks (chinese hate playing as the mongol yuan dynasty)
>>2513123>nothing until springAbsolutely grim
>>2513125i mean, isn't spring q2? sounds reasonable, the problem is most of 2027 without a dlc
>>2513126This isn't a game that can afford 4+ months with no improvement
>>2513124If they were so desparate to do this medieval meme they should have at least made it 1356, starting neatly with both the golden bull and red turban rebellion.
>>2513123it's just what i think but the dlc release for 2.0 will likely be cancelledduring the maintenance period corporate will make the decision about investing more money into EUV or forcing them to wrap it up and move onthe reviews for the dlc have been atrocious even by paradox standards but i guess we don't know how well they sold and that's all they really care about

TOP SHILL TAKES BLACK-PILLhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqEAud2m_RsOne of the last holdouts of the Tinto loyalists, Lord Lambert, has formally announced his dissent against the studio. His propaganda thumbails, once glibly adorned with homo-erotic pro-Johan edits now replaced with anti-regime slogans. The move comes at a time the rats seemingly can't flee the ship fast enough. The playcounts, once dropping week by week, are now dropping hour by hour as the pace of the desperate collapse hastens. Many are saying it is now not a matter of if Johan will be removed from power, but when? Not seen in public for weeks, speculation abounds on his present state. His bloated rotund figure and now characteristic oversized sunglases shielding his eyes, evidence of potential severe alcoholism and liver problems. Statements from those still on the payroll insist this is simply a managed decline at best and a recoverable crisis at worst, but many others are saying the writing is on the wall. The usual crackdowns on the forums and reddit, which once managed to stem the opposition, now seem to simply be inflaming it. With threads that once meekly boasted how they had pre-ordered the premium edition, now openly calling for retribution. We will bring you more on this rapidly developing situation as it unfolds.

>>2513150Drained
>>2513141I think if Civ 7 can continue to shamble on then EU5 can as well.
>>2512791Agreed entirely, and if they aren't going to update the movement mechanics in that way then they need to nerf morale, there are 2 solutions to this problem but Paradox has chosen to implement neither of them in their biggest most important update to the game so far, in fact i'm pretty sure morale was less impactful at launch so they actually made it worse
>>2513123Bilateral peace treaties not being in the game at launch was pretty fucked
>>2513141They won't cancel anything on the roadmap it'll be after 2027 when it starts to look more uncertain.
>>2512639Feel like they could have maybe reached some sort of middle ground here, like having 3 ticks per day instead of 24
>>2513146Who watches this videos? The thumbnail alone is retarded. I knew the DLC was shit before the release date.
>>2513080Hold on how did you launch it on linux? The fucking dowser flat out refused to launch for me, no matter which proton I use, I had to fuck around with bottles to get it to start. How did you get it to work? Also unrelated but yes ck3 has largely superseded ck2, it does still have disadvantages (such as being far too easy compared to ck2 for example, you must self-restrict all the time) but advantages win over still
>>2513175I feel they're going to be a double edged sword that's really easy for the player to game and that will cause ai on ai wars to end in the most horrendous border gore ever witnessed so can see why

By 1337 the Emirate of Granada is a joke that only exist because the christian kingdoms are more busy quarreling between them. There's a reason why Granada gets finally wiped out with the Reyes Católicos. Morocco is a non-issue.What is next, a DLC about Gengis Khan or the Magna Carta?

Am I just retarded? I'm just not enjoying staring at and Micro managing sliders for hours to get +1 ducats. I'm playing as Provence and I can't do anything because I'm broke and it's so fucking boring. I upgraded my RGO on my capital and now I can't do anything. Can build any buildings or armies or hire mercenary bands to expand. How is this game enjoyed by people?
>>2513316If you are micro managing sliders for hours and getting +1 you are indeed retarded.
>>2513316>Can build any buildings or armiesYou fight with your levies and enjoy that +0.05 ducats per month (it was 0.30 last month)
>>2513316>I'm playing as ProvenceWell that's kind of the core of your issueIf you wanna blob hard and fuck everyone up you can play as Bohemia or the Ottomans, mid-sized shitters are more of a country gardening thing.
>>2513325Blobbing isn't fun. I want the country to work and make money and punch above its weight. This isn't fun. Back to maplestory classic, grinding is more fun.
>>2513180I am so god damn tired of the Bethesda style programming of, "We could spend a couple weeks fixing a major feature. We could learn from our mistakes and improve the system... Naaaaah fuck that just remove it." I have no more patience for it. Fix your fucking shit. Stick to the god damn vision. You know what? Typing this out makes me wonder if Paradox is like Bethesda in that they have NO design document for everyone to refer to. It would explain a lot.

>>2513335No it's not. It's the "I don't wanna fix the thing so throw it out instead." move. Fixing it would be keeping the major game defining feature of hourly ticks AND making the game run better.
>>2513338I'm not gonna explain why the granularity of army movement that hourly ticks provides is a huge improvement to the EU formula again.
>>2513144I tried to keep going for 50 more years on max speed for the most part. >>2513373Did they nerf the black death? This was my first "playthrough" in half a year or so. It used to lose half my population. This time it was only a third and looks like this the same for basically all countries.
>>2512656>I think Johan had a good vision desu. They chased the "le biggest gayme ever" and pleased no one.He attached Vicky2's economy to the EU franchise which probably would have been sufficient, the implementation of pops, culture changing and religion made expansion such a hellish task that attempting to build out one of the colonial empires of history like the Ottomans is literally impossible and would explode in minutes after the game was unpaused.

>>2513410Okay that didn't last long. I guess playing Scotland should only be done on lower difficulties right now. You have been warned.
>>2513410Is this your first time in the EU series? Trying to appease a country that wants to eat you never worked and the alliance with France was the only thing keeping you alive.
>>2513414Cool story bro. With France as my "ally" I lost within 20 years while going all-in on making England happy at least made them not see my as an enemy and forced them to use a worse casus belli which makes it impossible for them to take too much land from me. Therefore the second option is the objectively better one.
>>2513420>>2513414>>2513411France right now(and maybe forever) just tends to get TURBO raped by the English BVLLS.The AI does not manage vassal loyalty well, especially not when thy have as many vassals as France does. Aside from eu5, I've only seen hourly ticks in hoi4 and hoi3. In hoi4 they absolutely fucking don't matter whatsoever and the game would be better with daily ticks, and hoi3 is not a playable videogame partly because of hourly ticks
>>2513449Hourly ticks are only in HoI4 because the game is supposed to run for 10-15 years.

>>2513454True. What is a little annoying is that France is supposed to be my guarantor of freedom and keep Englands power in check yet the event for that fires only after you are already dead. >>2513551>>2513543You know regnal numbers? You get an heir event, you can type in a name, and if the name is the same as a prior king, then you get Faggot II or whatever. This is the case in every other paradox game but it’s still broken in EU5 almost a year after release. If you play England and name Richard II’s son Edward manually, it’ll just be Edward. Not Edward IV or V. This basic feature is bugged and hasn’t been fixed yet. There’s literally no way they ever test anything. You are the tester.
>>2513561The devs only just now fixed the tick system, they are starting from the top of a very very long list of hard fixes. regnal numbers sound like a q3 2028 fix
>we bitched about generalist gaymings long videos>now he just talks faster~___~
now that they fixed the bug((?? It was a bug??) where vassals and fiefdoms were divided in their loyalty through subject type malus, what's the actual difference/decision supposed to be exactly? AFAIK your ruler gaining stats via fiefdom parliament has been fixed also, so the only things I can come up with are the negligible boost to institution spread from vassals and fiefdom always inserting your religion, this only ever comes into play with like, uh... releasable historical subjects? but only after you blob your way to foreign religion countries which realistically isn't going to be in the "Yeah let me make a fiefdom sire" part of the time frame unless you're Ethiopia. and that's it? Only other thing i can come up with is that you can make a dominion out of a fiefdom. Is that the decision? Do I take the negligible buff from vassal or do I go with fiefdom because maybe I'll upgrade it to a dominion?Update looks awesome by the way, with the sole exception of removing hour ticks. Can't wait for someone to mod them back in. If they don't I might use ai to do it but that'll probably make the game shit the bed.
>>2513587>with the sole exception of removing hour ticks. Can't wait for someone to mod them back in.But whyseriously, I don't get it, 500 hours in the game and i already had fast universalis installed to skip hour ticks anyway, why does anyone care about these> what's the actual difference/decision supposed to be exactly? Most important thing is your fiefdom shares a ruler/dynasty with the overlord.i dont think the loyalty split was a bug but it never made any sense
>>2513587>fixed vassals and fiefdoms were divided in their loyalty through subject type malusThey did? Why would they remove the peak arcade feature in the arcade game? Genuinely what is their problem.

>>2513652It's legitimately pretty horrible feature unless they get it absolutely right which is just not going to happen. Personally I would rather just have a war have a clear winner and a loser than having to avoid giving AI some meme trade back for their capital that AI values extremely highly for some reason. Military access for your war reparations or all of your gold or your most imporant fort? Sounds perfectly legitimate and a worthy way to end this conflict.

>>2513820The abuse is that pdx will never be able to set up AI weights for importance/unimportance of various demands properly even in a vacuum, let alone when taking context into account. There may be cases when taking one strategically placed province is more optimal than taking three others elsewhere; when forcing military/fleet access is the most valuable concession because it will allow you to subsequently fight a significantly more important and profitable war; when it's better to give away undefendable land and at least get something for it rather than keep fighting and still lose it for free and so on. >>251418630yw type stuff can't really happen because the AI is too eager to peace out wars and truces last too long.As soon as the AI starts winning against another AI they take 3 locations and war reps, then call it a day for 15 years. This messes up time-limited situations like the italian wars and hussite wars too.The optimal play in the hussite wars is to just sit on Bohemia as long as possible, starve them out and click the genocide button on repeat.AI prefers instead to annex a few locations, Bohemia never actually gets defeated and returns to full strength soon enough.
>>2514188the game can't handle multi phased, regionalized conflict like that anyway, it was just world war .5 with every country from portgual to hungary fighting over every tiny scrap of landi'd just have random fucking OPM german states sending 500 levies into my territory randomly all the time
>>2514188>The optimal playObjectively speaking, the optimal play is to take actual rewards if you're winning. Bohemia suffering doesn't really help you, so it's not exactly "wrong" for them not to do that.If you want to history RP, then Austria would have to devastate Bohemia and also lose the war, and the mechanics for something like that don't exist in this game.
