    >Think of replaying a strategy game campaign
    >Imagine getting to that one particular part and immediately stop wanting to replay it

Bog standard RTS, but the escort mission and the final mission from Army Men RTS. I think you can only beat the latter with cheese strats.
    >>
    >>2509127
    For me its
    >Generals
    USA 5
    >Generals Zero Hour
    China 3
    >Tiberium Wars
    GDI: Croatia
    Scrin: Threshold 19
    >Company of Heroes
    Mortain (both parts)
    >Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts
    The entire British campaign
    >Shogun 2
    Realm Divide
    >Act of War High Treason
    The Cuba missions
    >Impossible Creatures
That one mission where all your creatures get a DoT debuff
    >WarCraft 3
    Under the Burning Sky
    >>
    >thinking of replaying AoE2
    >it's all good

    You sound like a BITCH

    >C&C3
It was actually Albania that filtered me last time I tried a GDI playthrough, where you have to escort engineers at the start and capture buildings. I don't know why, that map has never given me grief before.
    >>
I basically never replay campaign/story modes for strategy games because they're rarely any fun the second time around. I finish them once and then move on to multiplayer, skirmish maps, or just a different game.

    >ultimate general civil war
    >the screens between battles where you replenish casualties and purchase rifles for each of the individual regiments
towards the end of the campaign it took me one full playing session (my wagie life allows for like 30 minutes to an hour) just to take care of this shit
    >monday: play battle
    >tuesday: replenish losses and decide on next battle
    >wednesday: play next battle
    >>
    >>2509234
Realm divide rules and I'm tired of pretending it does not.
    >>
    >>2509354
My tactic for getting through that is to use riflemen to build a bunch of shelters and hide the engineers in them, leapfrogging all the way to the objective.
    >>2511633
Invalidating an entire portion of the game rules? Why even have diplomacy then?
    >>
    >Think of playing that one part
    >replay the entire game for that

    >any Total War
When you've reached the power level where its obvious that no other power can stop you, but each turn drags on an hour because you've got forces on every frontier and dozens of cities to manage
    >>
    >>2511633
Same. Only historylets hate it. At that point you are Oda Nobunaga having to fight off all Japan to keep your gains. It doesn’t exist just to fuck the player over. It’s also why it works differently in FOTS since that is a factional civil war.

You are playing inside one realm in Shogun 2. You aren’t the fucking Roman Empire or some shit.
    >>
    >>2511893
Strategy gamers swear they hate this shit but then devs try to stop this shit with harder mechanics in the late game only for people to admit they were secretly gay for it the whole time.

Also it’s something I’ve genuinely never experienced playing civ on deity for the past 20 years, the AI always puts up a decent fight until I finally win, so I assume faggots complaining about this shit are either savescumming or playing on lower difficulties. I actually assume it’s the former, 99% of problems in single player strategy games are because people literally suck the fun out of it by stopping themselves from losing or getting set back by save scumming.

    >Mortain (both parts)
The V2 and Panther hunting missions are much worse imo
    >>
    >>2509508
UGCW is as much a management game as it is a strategy game
    >>
    >>2511633
It's the reason I never played this game again even though liking it
    >>
    >>2511633
It should have been more like in FOTS, where your vassals, allies and maybe even clans you have high relation with decide to back you up, while the rest of the Japan forms a coalition against you, a-la Sekigahara.
Instead of just being a stupid -1 diplomatic relation per turn
    >>
    >>2512158
Is it because they're boring? I kinda get that feel because there's no "easy" way to do those two missions. But I personally feel like both parts of Mortain are worse.
    >1st part
You just kinda sit there and fend off waves of infantry, unlike Carentan this goes on for some time.
    >2nd part
Now half the map is covered with FlaK guns, so your armor reinforcements are useless. At least you can stop the enemy spawns by destroying their bases.
