For example: can you have a WW2 strategy game, and painstakingly recreate WW2 with troop movements, builds, production, policy decisions, etc, and have the in game engine/AI remember it, thus creating an AI that will naturally replicate WW2 and naturally replicate how WW2 could have gone as a reaction to players as they do their own gameplay.

Can you reverse engineer taking your meds?
    >>
    >>2508542
    But that's illegal
    >>
    >>2508525
I would play this game. The highest goal of a historical strategy game should be to perfectly replicate history, barring the player’s actions.

Molecules aren't illegal, just scheduled and controlled under various legal frameworks.
    >>
    >>2508525
you mean like the game dynamically adjusts things to constantly push the player back to historical accuracy? That sounds like an awful game
    >>
    >>2508525
Yeah that sounds like you're scripting things
    >>
    >>2508525
    no one would play that
    >>
    >>2509165
no he meant that the recreation of tactics, strategy, and skill for each commander/country is perfected so you can play what ifs
    >>
    >can you have AI accurately simulate human behavior 1-to-1 in realtime across every single participant in a massive global war involving hundreds of millions of people?
    Shut the fuck up, retard.

inb4 some midwit tries to point out
    >"nuhhhhuhhh he wuz talkin abut the tactcz n stretgys not da individul peeples"
as if all that shit wasn't determined on decisions and events that took place on a non-generalizable and fully interwoven individual level
    >>
    >>2509286
this wouldnt make a historically accurate game either, a huge part of ww2 is just luck
    >>
    >>2508525
No. The idea fails at the core because even if you make an AI capable of pulling off a convincing Rommel o algo, you first would need a very convincing and accurate simulation game in first place to actually get that AI to behave correctly. Chasing that however at some point would become a folly in of itself because you'd end up with a documentary movie rather than a game.

Imagine being able to trace your failed offensive back to the soldier who decided to wack off to a pinup in the bunker.

I just want hoi4 AI to not D-Day me with one Belgian and Greek division every few weeks. Is that so hard to ask for pdx?
    >>
    >>2508525
we are already in a simulation, so something or somebody already done it
