gameplays up, gather aroundhttps://youtu.be/o9G7qqBkTHg
my first thought is that im not a fan of those 3d animated advisors
at least the island looks decently sized this time around
>>2506736i guess its an alternative to pausing the game just to look at the caricature-style artwork
Did they invent two/four-lane roads yet.
>>2506733Graphically an in terms of scale, looks good. Hopefully the gameplay is the same.
>wind turbinesIt's ogre>t. only played tropico 1 and 2
>>25071013 is basically a remake of 1, but adds things like cars. 4 is the last that followed the old format and starting with 5 they start the current era system and the focus shifts from being a dictator to mustache twirling supervillain, stealing landmarks by 6.
>>2507002Don't think I've never had a problem of running out of island in Tropico 6, to be honest.
>>2507183Are you implying some of us bothered playing each game in a strict fashion? Tropico 6 was basically Tropico 5.5, it's rare that Kalypso bothers to add anything NEW to each entry and they're on the 7th one in this. Nobody can tell each sequel apart from the previous one.
i played 5 for like an hour before discarding it like bad garbage. i take it things haven't improved.
>>2507195A lot of people think 6 is peak which I find strange since it's pretty much just like 5.
>>2507194ok?
>>2507223I do like 6 because it at least fixes some of the issues with 5, 4 is still better thoIf you do get 6 either skip or disable the plague DLC because it sucks
>>25072236 is mostly an improvement over 5, but it's very iterative. You mostly play it for the vibes and you either enjoy the dumb humour or you don't and it's not that competitive in the city builder space. Tropico games in general are sort of not great as games and not that deep.
>>2507194well this one has terraform tools and sheeeeit
>>2506733GamerZakh and his affected enthusiasm kills me.
>>2506733How's 6? How simulated are the Tropicans and logistics?
>>2507684Each tropican has a house, job, their own needs, families and political affiliation.
>>2507646Where is he from anyway?? I can't put that accent anywhere
demo up
>>2507782i played it for 10 minutesit's just tropico 6.2, which is to say 5.3. The demo ran okayish on a 1660 ti (6 GB) at max everything, and well at medium everything. Max citizen limit is still 10k. The grid system is improved over that of 6.>>2507183well the mountains seemed taller and the islands farther apart than they did in 6
>>2507753Malaysia, he's done videos on it
>>2507831are those 10k citizens actually simulated? thats not bad. CS2 shits itself at 100k
>>2507839yes, each one has a family tree, a profession, a residence, an opinion of the government, and so on. Same as in T6.As colony-builders go, Tropico is pretty good. The 4-fags are perpetually butthurt that El Presidente was turned into a caricature of himself, but if you're someone (like me) who never played 4 and never will, then you'll just not be disappointed by what the series isn't.
>>2507850ill try it out later today. any new gameplay mechanics? just cuz this franchise rooks the same since T3
>>2506733>gridless construction looks cool>animated portraits look horrible>everything else looks like tropico 6
>>2506733tropico is effortless. It's easy to develop, is for dumb people or people that want an easy game. Even if they could bring more and more idea and great things they wont, because the main buyer is basically retarded. So they bring something new but effortless in each new game, you wont notice much difference from tropico 3/4 to tropico 5/6 except to some polished things. Also they add countless dlcs that broke the atmosphere and add nothing.
>eraslop
Oof. 3 minutes in and I don't want to watch any more. When he clicks on a building the minimalist glowing square outline just makes me think they didn't consult an artist and that this is just another heartless city builder. The art direction in general is just drawing my eye to how flat the terrain is. None of these things on the surface were "better" in Tropico 4, but I would never think about them in 4, I may not even think about them in 5, but I did in 6, and I am here.I assume the farms are once again squares and... did 6 also make ranches buildings you could just place next-to-next like factories where the animals don't eat grass? Also I'm tired of the American Revolution angle. I don't think I'd like it even if it was freedom from Spain or America. Is the cold war too problematic to depict that we still need Penultimo wearing communist badges in a faux-1800s world with mixed architecture and following us 200 years into the safest parody of 202X?The people remind me of Cities Skylines 2's unity asset store sims wearing painted on clothes. The first one he zooms in on in the colonial era is a fat white landwhale "man" from the 2000s with a 1900s latinx profile picture.>>2506736Imagine how many tokens they used to generate, rig and shittily animate those!Imagine how big your graphics card needs to be to run this game!>>25072235 is not 6. 5 is closer to 4 and more of a game. Yes I prefer 4. Yes I refunded 6.>>2507850>The 4-fags are perpetually butthurtYes and rightly so. Same as fans of 1 are right to be upset the full political spectrum fell out the bottom.
They got rid of Russia as a power in the modern era. How the fuck am I gonna roleplay as an anti-Western autocrat without Russia as a modern era power? 5 of the 6 powers in the modern era are pro-Western, and the other is neutral.
>>2510868zorks are canceled chud, you will embrace the globohomo.
>>2510868wait...they took out russia but didn't add china?
>>2506736This is honestly my biggest problem. The cartoony artwork was part of the games charm, the 3c portraits are just boring and generic.
>>2510871...China has been there in every game since 4
>>2507910it's such a wasted concept desu
>>2510868it's dumb since russia is way more involved with venezuela and cuba then china
>>2510868>as a powerDo you mean superpower or entirely->entirelyoh dear.I don't really understand why Brazil is a big player. Or India. And actually naming the Saudis would surely ruin the joke of the camel people being interchangeable oil barons and mean you're now expected to write satire specifically about the royal family but nothing that would offend them. In fact I can't see them writing a biting satire of India or finding an accent that isn't shit to listen to. I just want to forget roaches are literally everywhere. It also looks like the factions are solely:>communists>capitalists>religious>intellectuals>militarists>environmentalistsNo industrialists I think is good, given they simply cannibalise the capitalist faction. Not sure why there are no nationalists but I'm probably glad. I thought they were gone in Tropico 6 but looking it up, they put not-Alex Jones in charge of the euphemistic "Conservatives". A shame the loyalist faction is still not with us. I would have thought personality cults would be good satirical material in current year. Though what little I can look up of 6 (the most complete wiki appears to be a broken English Chinese one, gee, I wonder why 6 didn't kill the IP) says funny people did indeed stop existing by 2012.
>>2510868G*rms are mentally ill
>>2510961Germs love russia though. Their leaders are sucking oligarch cock to get executive positions at russian companies.
>>2510957switch brazil to russia and its fixed
>>2510957Considering you are the leader of a Caribbean nation, Brazil does actually work as a regional power you have to deal with. Especially in the earlier eras when they were still capable of projecting power internationally. After the Cold War era though, lets just say that they are lucky Argentina managed to be even bigger fuck ups by the end of the 20th century to distract people from their own fall from grace.
>>2507850>Hasn't played 4>thinks anything past 4 is good.I guarantee you couldn't handle Tropico 1.
>>2511220How would you fix image related?I'm still not sure what the revolutionary-intellectual is supposed to be a take on. I guess I never did. I assume she's just that woman from Tropico 5 again who enough people then mistake the industrialist faction leader for being because there's nothing distinctive about her unlike Sunny or Miss Pineapple.I'd rip the tattoo off Sunny's arm if she has it in the final version. She should not pull double duty for the modern version of women enjoying free sex, free drugs and free sun, even if it's clear we have no business-tourist faction for that. In fact almost nothing here makes sense beyond the cold war.
Is there combat? I ask this every time a new tropico game comes out and tropifags always tell me...>Tropico isn't really about combatTo which I reply>Fuck uAll I want is to build up my island and turn it into a fucking warzone. Roll my T55's down the road to stamp out rebels, fighting in the streets while they make another attempt to storm my palace. Sim Mogadishu basically. Why can't I have this? Peacefags can still play peacefully if they want, I want my mini Vietnam.
>>2511342>How would you fix image related? As leader I would impregnate the two on the left so they don't turn up to future meetings. I assume one is environmentalist and the other is communist, they all look like nice people I just don't feel I could balance their happiness all that well with all the conflicting worldviews. With those two impregnated and gone I might be able to juggle military, religion and capitalist...
>>2510936how are they neutral?
>>2506736>barely seconds into trying the demo and i immediately wonder if im playing an Anno game instead
>Hear Penultimo speakThat's not Penultimo..
>>2511541Penultimo's son, Ultimo.
Why the hell is the Crown represented by England if i'm a Viva Cuba Libre larper since Tropico 1
>>2511549Great Britain might have taken it some war in the 1700s but I agree it should be Spain.
>>2511358There is some yeah. This time it seems more RTS like altho the last Tropico o played was 5 and combat was dogshit
combat was always wonky in this series, topping off with 5 and repelling superpower invasions with your little island army. At the very least in 6 they made a superpower invasion game over again like it should be.
>>2510868That is quite homosexual. They should add Russia back and North Korea as well.
There could ve a whole questline where the north koreans kidnap penultimo to be their new leader.
>>2511362The communist is !Che Guevara in the middle, the woman next to the hippie is the intellectual
>>2511549idk but it's easier to feel like an oppressed underdog when you're listening to a posh british man calling you quaint than a horny spaniard going jajajajaja cabron
>>2511605>At the very least in 6 they made a superpower invasion game over again like it should be.Yeah but they would still send smaller forces first which you could fight off.
>>2511549Been that way since eras were introduced in Tropico 5.American Audience + Easteuro Dev = American Revolution (despite them becoming very familiar with American-Carib cold war news and the history of latin dictators)Tropican Greencoats look ugly as sin.Yes you'd hope they'd have instead tried to do a Spanish, French or American overlord. But maybe it's as excusable as you being a traditional colony game where you're a destination for migrants, which is very strange for a Latin American dictatorship, or any dictatorship.>>2511605I thought that was how 5 worked too, or did they just send ever increasing armies?>>2511647>it turns out Penultimo wasn't even in North Korea>he was in South Korea all along and happily living in a cult, serving another Presidente>you see our maps were upside down, and we only found out when we invaded what turned out to be New Zealand, where all but our generals were eaten by loud tattooed warriors>[all soldiers die in Tropico, -10 Relations with Oceania, Penultimo returns]
>7There's a point where this has to stop and we've clearly crossed it
>>2511342Miriam Godwinson is BACK
>>2511605I like both, with the smaller forces just coming in to destroy your only profitable factory feels proportionate.
>>2511853We must dissent
>Tropico 7>Looks the same as 6>Which looked the same as 5>Which looked the same as 4Why would I buy the same game yet again?
>>2512151>7 = 6 = 5 = 4>but 7 != 4curious
>>2512151it's incrementally better than the previous version
>>25121515 looked nothing like 46 recaptured some of 4's style.
>>2512144Would El Presidente build brood pits or staple nerves?>>2512288kek>why am I here>you are the eventuality of an anomaly which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of communist precision
>east point academy bugTropico was always woke! This would be game breaking if the game didn't throw money at you.
>>2512303Yes, and punishment spheres <3-50% tech is no problem when you got none anyway.
I've heard two songs from the Tropico 6 sound track IRL. One at a Lebanese restaurant in Texas, one on a cruise ship on the Nile River.
>>2512474Nice, is it arranged by Gilberto Gil again? Some really nice soundtracks in the Tropico games.
>>2512474Which ones
>>2506733>Maybe The Best City Builder Of 2027what else is there even?
>>2512643>and>
>>2512474Tropico 6s sound track was s fucking banger, almost on par with 3. 7 seems to be just as good as 6 so we'll be eating good in the OTS department at least.
>>2512618IIRC, the restaurant was Sol de la Manana, but that was months ago. The boat on the Nile was Bienvanudo a Tropico, without lyrics.
