Am I just retarded or is this game really difficult? I feel like I can never get shit to work the way I need it to
The Impression Games city builders have a really weird difficulty curve. Just do what you can.
No you're not wrong these games are hard to learn. It's very satisfying when you get it right though and see your city develop. I played 3 quite a bit several years ago so I'm speaking from experience. Never got very good at it and there was always something that'd fuck me over when I got far enough.
>>2502789Yes
>>2502789They are mutually exclusive, you know? The game might be genuinely difficult even for smart people but you won’t know because you are retarded. Everything difficult would remain so for you
>>2503512*They are not mutually exclusive
>>2503513It's alright esl-kun. Your heart was in the right place.
C3 isnt hard, just obtuse. The only way "difficulty" can be obtained in the later levels is by leaving less and less room for error in deviating from prototypical dev city which clears the stupid columns. which is the same as reducing creativity, and why play citybuilder then
at least later games have roadblocks (did C3 have those? I can't remember) and emperor did away with the employment walkers. Wish they would have backpatched that into earlier titles. But yes they are very obtuse
>>2503768The pharaoh remake lets you pick between walkers and a worker pool.I don't really mind the idea of building another residential area to provide workers and having to manage it being close enough but industry not tanking desirability in principle but then you get mines somewhere far from closest water source or higher level buildings requiring so many services it's inefficient to build small so you have to squeeze everything around one district. The game also discourages making slums because they tank the average living standard and that's part of scenario objectives.>>2502789I don't have a lot of experience with c3 specifically, but the harder scenarios you kinda do need to optimise. They don't give you a lot of slack to hit the target. You need to know how to manipulate the walkers and not overbuild the city because it will be too hard to fulfill the needs.
>>2503857I always just plopped a single house down in the industrial areas to give them workers. As long as the walker reached one house they could draw from the entire labor pool. Consider it a flop house or something where workers doing long shifts out there could catch some sleep.
>>2503768Proper way of playing C3 in the current year is by using Augustus overhaul anyway. It's Pharaoh QoL with added roadblocks and other minor fixes. Or Julius if you're a purist.
>>2502789All you, sorry.
Caesar IV mogs
>>2502789If you drop it you won't miss anything. Pharaoh is basically Caesar 3+ and the challenge is better. If you're feeling chinky then play Emperor on a higher difficulty aiming for good feng shui, you'll get good challenge that way too. I beat Pharaoh+Cleo but never bothered a fully playthrough of Caesar
OP here, I downloaded Augustus and pretty much all my complaints are fixed. Fun game
>>2509486a ceasar game in name only, without the walker system it was just generic.
>>2509949what is walker system
>>2509979Have you even played the games? in order to supply houses with things various buildings (such as markets) produce a 'walker' which goes around your road system. The issue was intersections, they would chose a random path every time and the whole meta was to avoid them as much as possible or your housing might lose access to to things, devolve, throw out workers and cause a spiral.
>>2502789Not played in years but as a kid in this and Pharaoh I could never figure out how to get round the demographic black hole my city hits when everyone suddenly retires and my Workforce is now 8,000 short and all the houses are devolving so probably?
>>2509996You had to keep your main housing area at just under that level and have a separate area allowed to go scribes to fill any mission requirements.
I played the demo of that new game Triskle Interactive is making and I just did not enjoy it. Something about it is just off which is odd because I adored their first game Lethis and enjoyed their work on the Pharaoh remaster.
>>2509996The only mission where that is a problem is Rostja with the Great pyramids. You should not be taking that long in missions for it to effect you especially since you will be expanding out throughout the mission to get more workers in and so you will get a constant stream of young people too.The way to fix this is to bulldoze the old people homes, let the emigrants leave the map and then rebuild the houses
