Has anyone else played this yet?I'm having fun, but I don't know how much depth there is to it. Feels like the rules for people's needs and where you build stuff are so loose that there isn't much of a logistical challenge. No political sperging thanks
>Feels like the rules for people's needs and where you build stuff are so loose that there isn't much of a logistical challengeThat's kind of sad, I was looking forward to it. But it also seems kind of expected. You replace everything with car infrastructure, and there's honestly not a lot of that.
>>2502449Apparently some people have been complaining about the game being too hard, but I think that's probably because the tutorial doesn't teach you much and leaves it up to you to pick things up as you play.I don't know what's going on in the background of the game, you get a heatmap that shows parking demand and some Sim City bars telling you what you need more of, but so far beyond parking lots it hasn't felt like I've really needed to optimize where I place things or manage traffic flow or anything like that.
>>2502449It's kind of like all other city builders where you have such an unstable equilibrium. You are either rolling in cash with nothing to spend it on, or death spiraling with no way out.Ironically, I found the best way to play was to just take a massive loan at the start and buy all rental properties which pay off 100% in less than a day. From then on it's just free money.
>>2502447'carbrainess' isn't clever parody - its butthurt namecalling. the lack of depth leads me to believe that this is just a vaguely political shitpost against the dev's perceived enemies who aren't actually real
>>2502609I actually like that it is a political shitpost, because that often leads to creativity. But it is such a political shitpost that it looks at buses and doesn't see "more car infrastructure" but rather "oh this is a THREAT to car infrastructure", so as a result it limits what you can do.
>>2502447I don't play commie games.
The smug political commentary seems 20 years late at least, maybe 60
I'm enjoying it so far. Just cleared the first mission. Yeah you can cheese the financial side of things, but you can do that in RCT as well. I'd be curious to see some evolving mission objectives, like maybe once you reach CB3, you have to maintain a certain percentage green space on lots, or some areas get bought and reserved as parks or something. Maybe there can be some kind of drainage accomodation where as you add pavement, you increase the risk of flooding during a storm.
>>2502640isnt this a japanese game
>>2502743Dutch, apparently.
why is this stupid game being shilled on every /v/?>>2502749>blueskyoh, social media hipsters are pushing it like they pushed balatro and mewgenicswhateveraids die turbo cancer faggot faggot faggot
i dont give a fuck about politics or social media or whatevergame looks fun but im afraid it'll just make me want to reinstall rct
>Talk about video game. No political sperging>Talk about video game? No. Political sperging!
>>2502751I remember thinking nothing about Balatro. Then I looked into it and a shocking amount of the cards in it are not so subtle seething. I don't understand why these guys can't just create something fun without getting tied up in their weird ideology.
>>2502640>I don't play video gamesftfy
>>2503681Got any examples? I played Balatro a few times and never noticed any seething in it
>2503681Weak bait, Balatro doesn't have any flavortext
>>2502678I think there's potential for different challenges. More limited space for building, different objectives and citizen behavior, limited building options like RCT does. I'm not sure if it has the same potential for creative building as RCT, but to be fair I haven't really tried going all in on building big vertical car parks and using the 3D tool yet
>>2502617replacing other forms of public transportation for buses that only poor people ride is part of how America got so "carbrained" so it should be viable in the game
>>2504274Most poor people in the US ride buses and metro trains for free.
>>2502447Why waste your time on wacky meme shit like this?
>>2502640what's commie about it?
>>2504346I enjoy tycoon strategy games. What an odd question.
>>2502640why is her head so round
>>2504274You can have clean, safe, functional, and reliable public transportationOr you can have brown peopleYou can’t have both
>>2504782fpbp
>>2504782It's not even that. The reason why Americans use private transportation is because of the size of American and how/when it was built. In Europe, almost every single city, town, and village is pre-automobile, even pre-train. This meant they had to be within walking distance of one another. Perfect for public transportation later on.In the US, outside of the East Coast it is all post-train and post-automobile. Towns are much further apart, and sometimes small communities are twenty minutes from a grocery store with no bus in sight. The whole "Henry Ford bought up all the public transportation and then destroyed it" is a retarded conspiracy theory that ignores the fact the US has not only metro lines in many major cities, but buses in every single one.
>>2504780She cute.
>>2502609>perceived enemies who aren't actually realyes goym, dont mind the lobbyists shoveling tax billions on yet more highway expansion and home bulldozing, while not letting a modest light rail get off the ground for a fraction of the highway cost. just be a good sheep and pay your car tax to Big Oil, because you LOVE cars!
>>2504842"its just too big for public transit" is a bad excuse when a) the USA used to be worlds' best train-using country by a wide mile, and b) Russia can have city to city passenger rail that doesn't bend the knee to freight, USAmerica has no excuse.as for the west coast cities being built "post-automobile", early cars sucked and early cities were still designed with walking in mind, plus some tramway rail-cars to help with commute, but then Big Car bought up the railcar companies only to pull the rails out of the roads. your cities were ruined FOR car dependancy, by the people who would profit the most from car dependancy. and don't even get me started on suburban sprawl due to ass-backwards zoning regulations.>conspiracy theoryonly in the scientific meaning of theory, that is a well corroberated explanation for a real phenomenon. your cities dont even have consistent sidewalks, who cares about buses with bus stops without a roof or a seat, yall cant even get the basics right.
>>2503681>balatro cards are not so subtle seethingwhat? i mean i guess Hack replaying the low scoring cards is a joke, but it's not aimed at anyone in particular.
>>2505030>suburban sprawlWhites fleeing nogs
>>2505036so you're saying the racists did it to themselves? ok, that makes sense. thanks, i won't look at car dependant suburbia in a bad light ever again.
>>2505038>racistsHumans wanting to live among their own kind in peace and safety, free from attacks by violent archaic hominids, is perfectly normal and natural behavior, yet you use a pejorative to disparage it
>>2505040oh, so you're a racist too? shoulda told me earlier.good luck with your midterms!
>>2505043>oh, so you're a racist too? shoulda told me earlier. If you had higher IQ, I would ask you to appreciate the cosmic irony of how it is you whose heart is filled with hatred and ugliness, which you project onto, and subsequently dehumanize, your perceived enemies. Yet you are too dumb to grasp even elementary natural truths that a child intuitively understands.
Why do you morons have to make everything about politics? I didn't play RCT at all, but I did play a fair share of Transport Tycoon (and OpenTTD). In TTD, if you made too many changes to the landscape, the local authority would restrict your ability to build or do certain things. You would either need to accept that you couldn't do anything in that region for a while, or you could spam trees or spend a bunch of money on advertising to improve your standing. I thought that mechanic was too gamey and sucked balls. In this game, you get protests that slow your tempo a bit, but you get to send your boys and dogs to beat the living crap out of the hippies, and things go back to normal. Purely from a game mechanics perspective, that's an improvement. Why would I care about the politics of those fucking hippies? Whether I think they have a point or not, once you quell them, the issue is resolved and no judgment is passed. The game progresses. Why do you imbeciles care? It's a fucking game. That being said, the game is shallow and too easy once you figure out how to make money. Particularly, as some other anon said, the rent you get from tenants is way too generous.
>>2505066
>>2505066>Why do you morons have to make everything about politics?Politics is identity now. A lot of people take on politics. specifically some ideology, as their own personal identity. These people also see politics everywhere and crave for change, but won't do anything to effect any change usually because of cowardice. So they think if they shout hard enough about politics, they will eventually influence a loose cannon into doing that "something", even if its shouting in a thread about a videogame.
>>2505104
>>2505110he sounds like a complete fag
>>2505110What's so bad about this that it deserves a screencap?I mean, sure, it's a gay ass subleddit with a fag flag icon, but that's basically just an ad targeting likely customers.
>>2505110it's just satire bro lighten up
>>2505136>What's so bad about this that it deserves a screencap?Taking a screeshot is free (and I didn't even take it, got on an archived /v/ thread). And what I'm pointing out is that the game has a political stance, hence why people discussing politics is not 'make everything about politics'.>>2505142It's alright. I don't agree with the political concept but it's cute and reminds me of RCT (I actually thought it was made by Foster before looking the dev up).
>>2505066Way she goes. I was hoping /vst/ being a more niche vidya board would be able to TALK ABOUT FUCKING VIDEO GAMES
>>2502749>dutchThat explains a lot
>>2503898There's a Joker involving the commie fist but that's really it.
if this was a game where you were building a fucking wall, you'd be singing its praises, wouldnt you?
>>2502449>You replace everything with car infrastructure, and there's honestly not a lot of that. There aren't a lot of straight up infrastructure games, at least not really ugly simulator ones. Most older transport games tend to just fake passengers and are less about evolving an economy that becomes reliant on you and more about A->B->C->D supply chains at largest complexity.>>2502609I'd ask why the writer didn't instead pick "Petrolhead" even if that wouldn't necessarily be appropriate, it's an existing concept. It does feel as unthinking as most Starbucks satires, "Thing bad".>>2505110Having a leaf through...I'm not entirely sure what they were inspired by from this. The final concept is divorced from cross-city highways and the people subsist on dry oxygen until you get enough cars you yourself bring farms into existence. The propaganda you spread to convince people to buy cars don't even say something short and stupid like "Just one more lane", as if this Dutchman only talks to people so unfamiliar with cars they don't actually know what they hate (I'm not surprised the subreddit's logo is a blacked trans flag... and there's a thread about muh teslas are invading poland).I mean, surely the game, if inspired by this, and absolutely hates car companies to the point it's offensive, should start with letting you voice the plight of the farmer and the schoolchild to get loans for road building and later on you libtardedly "laugh" at them all being stuck in the traffic jams you created. I wouldn't be surprised if the suburban couples you create in game aren't required to be heterosexual.
>>2506645About the gameplay message there were two things that I liked that emerged naturally that felt on point:>You get incentivized to build small (or no sidewalks) as they take space from car infrastructure>Cities get congested as more cars show upI wish that rather than buying and evicting people from their homes (like the ebil capitalist we are) they got bothered by the pollution, noise, and dirtiness and simply wanted to move out from city centers. To your shiny suburbs and mac mansions.Pollution from factories was an interesting point but it also makes parking demand go down, so what gives?
>>2506686It did strike me as wrong that they don't mind living right next to your factories surrounded by pollution. If the dev wanted to capture the feel of an American suburb they should at least want fake green lawns, probably manufactured and sold by you.
Depends on how the scenarios expand. The first scenario is really easy to clear, and i can tell from the second scenario not everything in the game was available to play with there. Its going to be carried by its rollercoaster tycoon aesthetics and the ability to bully the pedestrians. Hopefully it adds more traffic stuff. Cars just clipping through each other is meh.
>>2506567Depends on how fun it is to build the wall.
The game has a lot of potential. It's surprisingly fun making parking lots. It definitely needs a lot of work though.
>>2502478So like real life, then.
