I've been trying out Slaughterer masteries on the singular playable unit that can use them. They aren't particularly outstanding and full slaughterer/marauder builds don't do much and the stat bonus from Battle Royal isn't worth it. It is strange how many enemy Slaughterers there are but no real playable Slaughterer when Marauder/Slaughterer masteries would be much more effective on playable units with benefits for obtaining items and killing lots of units.

One build I tried was a bleed chain kill build similar to what Great Swordsman can pull off. I was hoping to use Dismember with Bloodbath to mimic the Cartharsis + OSOK combo, but without the bonus bladestorm chance from GS masteries, it doesn't really work unless you get very lucky. You'll have to preemptively apply bleed to a bunch of enemies before you can get to chainkilling them, so it's strictly worse than Great Swordsman.

Slaughterer masteries do have some interesting interaction with the other ones mungos have access to, though. Blood Rampage is -10 AT everyone bleed is inflicted when combined with Joyful Mungo, then Bloody Beast gives -10 AT for attacking bleeding enemies. Fresh Meat and its sets are at odds with Predator, which gives more consistent healing without the need for multiple sets, so if you just want heals on kills, Predator is better.

The one Slaughterer-specific set that really sticks out to me is Battle Royal just for the fact that it makes Quick Grasp give -10 AT instead of -5 for each activation. Despite nearly every other mungo having Quick Grasp, White Mask doesn't have it by default, strangely enough.
The most effective build I've come up with so far uses Sen no Sen unsurprisingly. Slaughterers inherently get -20 AT on kill and the Guillotine set gives another -10, this -30 AT whenever Sen no Sen gets a kill results in a lot of turns, and gives a full AT refund for counterattack activation, which goes well with Undefeated too. This can quickly solo groups of enemies.

Quick Grasp was -10 by default when Mungos first came out. They changed it to -5 as one of the first nerfs to them and added that set so Red Sand Slaughterers could keep the -10.

I'm feeling the effects of our influence on the Europe server's pvp scene. I've got endgame teams on all the non-China servers, and EU by far has the hardest joint drills on average these days. An absolute inversion of how it used to be, and a lot of those teams aren't even ours. Just people who've fought our builds and minmaxed in response.
    >>
Also, I forgot to mention but I think White Knight is starting to become a lot more popular. The class split these days is nowhere near the Barbarian supermajority it used to be, it's more like 50/50, or possibly even in White Knight's favour.

I didn't know enough people regularly play against player teams PvE for there to be that much of an effect. It makes sense I suppose, since there's not really anywhere to share builds for most players outside of trooncord servers, CPU player teams is just the best way to see other people's end-game builds in action and learn from them.

It's like Xcom 2 meets Final Fantasy Tactics. There's a very in-depth build system for characters with lots of options to choose from.
The game is a bit slow at the beginning though, you'll have to play for maybe 10-20 hours before it opens up and you can actually engage with a lot of the mechanics. It's worth it if you really like TRPG gameplay though.

DSE is a complete meme and so is its set. I tried making a giselle build with it as the main gimmick and it practically never triggered.

Only time I could envision it being useful is starlight junction but I don't think most players have it at that point in the game.
    >>
    >>2499593
I have it on a few Giselle builds but that's just for fun.
Irene can get some use out of it with her overcharge against super tanky targets, and it's also got a niche pvp use for not getting 999'd by Leton's kick overcharge.
    >>

Even after all those nerfs it still took me like 45 minutes to whittle down a Schild destron in CC HR/HR joint drill one time.

    >>

Are we doing a PvP tournament again at the end of the year? I know it was mentioned last thread but I dunno if there's going to be enough players this time since the thread seems slower and it didn't seem like there was much interest earlier this year. I guess if we really need more players we can ask on the Steam forums or in trooncords.

Anyone who wants to participate but doesn't have an end-game company on the EU server should start leveling their team now, it can take a few months to clear the main story.

The difficulty is inconsistent through the base game. Early on some missions will be pretty tough and there's a couple with overleveled enemies that you aren't expected to kill. The difficulty evens out through the mid to late game with some spikes when new enemy types are introduced, but it's nothing too difficulty as long as you're updating mastery boards and gear and actually using tactics, most of the pain is just the sheer amount of enemies in some levels which turns it into attritional horde defense.

The DLC are definitely quite difficult though, and that's by design. Dandylion designed the main enemy factions in the DLC to fuck over specific playstyles and certain enemies are essentially end-game bosses. Most players will have to grind a bit, start running some meta stuff in their builds, and play a lot more tactically to finish the DLC story missions.
So generally yes, I would say the game is somewhat hard, especially if you're going for a full playthrough, but it's not equally hard all the way through.
    >>
    >>2500336
I'd say it's medium-hard, like on a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 is impossible to lose, 5 is challenging but beatable on the first attempt and 10 is fucking bullshit, it probably sits at about a 6.5 to 7.

    >Are we doing a PvP tournament again at the end of the year?
Yes. There was a small initiative somewhere around March, but only 2(!!!!) people have replied, so I canned it. We'll host another one around Christmas, same time (or maybe a little earlier, depending how work goes) as last year. In a perfect world, I'd like to have at least 8 people participating for a nice, clean bracket, but we'll make do with any numbers. Last one was held on EU, so we can safely conclude that most people have teams there, which means we'll be hosting there once again.
PLEASE, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - If you would like to participate in this local tournament, reply to this post OR send a message to Sneed'sFeed'nSeed on EU. If you don't have a team on EU, but would still like to take part, reply to this post anyway and start working towards a team NOW. Several people that tried to make teams for the last one didn't get to finish even two months in advance, so it's best to start early.
I think I'd also like to host a post-tournament Christmas drawpile, but we'll see if we get burnt out on those by that point.
    >we can ask on the Steam forums or in trooncords
No. I really don't want to mix the communities. First, I've had hands-on experience of how terrible steamforum babbies are after living through the Library of Ruina Early Access. Second, I really don't think any of the players out there want to associate with 4chan, considering the website has retained its boogeyman status among the normalfag audience. And third, the management of people among several forums would be a logistical nightmare.
    >>
    >>2500336
The base game with no difficulty options enabled is pretty easy.
On the other hand, if you start a new run and max all the the difficulty it's pretty hard even for avid strategy players. Mainly because you lack masteries. In NG+ it's a lot easier.

Troubleshooter generally has a bunch of factors that make it easier than other tactics games by default, first one being that your units can't die. Imagine if you got an instant game over whenever Albus went down, or if Irene was crit to death you lost her forever. Or even if you lost your drones or pets permanently. Or even if there was an injury mechanic.
It doesn't have random growths like Fire Emblem, you can't get RNG screwed out of having a strong character.
You can infinitely grind experience/materials on easy maps if needed, or replay story chapters. The shops have infinite stock and you can even trade with other players online.
Some of the hardest maps are optional, or involve optional objectives.

Basically it has the potential to be very hard but it's very forgiving as well, there's not much "bullshit" in the game.
    >>
    >>2500918
    >you can even trade with other players online
I feel like the trading system is gimped by the inability to trade legendary items or purple items that have been equipped. In pretty much every other game with player trading, it revolves around rare drops and good rolls, yet in Troubleshooter you can only trade for common weapons and materials that can be easily crafted or purchased from NPCs anyways.

I myself have a lot of late game duplicates that I'm hesitant to scrap but wouldn't mind trading for specific legendary/epic items with good rolls, such as a Dunames S - MP of Sweeper.

    >>
    >>2502159
Start on Hard to expedite the grind. Masteries will be the biggest bottleneck, so think about builds you'd like to use for endgame content a little in advance. Don't hesitate to ask for items/materials, I can trade them to you at any point if I'm not at work or otherwise dead. I could throw, like 10 perfect scales your way to make the early game a breeze lol
    >>
    >>2502159
As the other anon said playing on hard is good for mastery drops, but for later missions it might be best to just turn it down to the easiest difficulty so you don't have to optimize builds as much.
Try to max out each character's classes as soon as they join and are getting big XP gains from being underleveled.
A lot of masteries that seem like they require taming or achievements can be gotten in joint drills.

Kinda. There's a lot of shit that works in regular play that doesn't work in PVP, for example White Knight is almost always better in PVP than Barbarian. Another big thing is that cover and pincer bondings means there will be a lot more responsive attacks, so stuff that gives guaranteed dodges against those become very valuable.
You can play against player teams selected from someone else on the server in joint drills so you can see what builds work in an environment similar to PVP without actually going up against another player, most of those teams aren't pvp-optimized themselves though.
    >>
    >>2502633
I wouldn't even know how to format such a guide.
I think the simplest advice to start is to spam joint drills against random player teams and look at your opponents' builds. Especially if you're on EU, there are a lot of really powerful players in there and it'll help you get a feel for what other players' teams are capable of. The AI isn't that good at using certain team comps and actual players feel very different to fight just because of how they use their units, but it'll make your builds exponentially better and get you used to fighting against Cover and Pincer Attack.

    >Wave Kick
trivializes the Into the Tiger's Den story mission. Pic rel. It's not a bad ability at all, it just doesn't synergize well with her class masteries.
    >Lightning Ball
isn't bad for squeezing out a little big of extra range on Sion. It also has less cast delay than Thunderbolt and the lower base damage is negligible since most Sion builds are going to nuke shit regardless. Accuracy is its only real issue.
    >Put Distance
does genuinely feel terrible to use, though. Terrible damage, terrible cooldown, terrible cast delay, just compare to Ray's Power Kick (similar melee kick ability) or Albus's Gentle Gust (same knockback and AT delay) to see what I'm talking about. I feel like if you're in a situation were you have to use it on Heixing, then you fucked up with positioning.
    >>
    >>2505766
Wave Kick is great for One Shot One Kill Misty because of its HP scaling
Put Distance is for kicking enemies out from under smokescreen
Ball Lightning is Sion's longest range attack and does extra damage to exposed enemies

I remember an anon talking about how they were trying to get the game models to work in Blender, did you still need help with that? I don't know much about 3d modeling myself but it seems to be somewhat functional with the blender2ogre plugin.
    >>
    >>2506396
That was me, mainly it was all the plugins being outdated and broken. I'll check out the one you posted.
    >>
    >>2506400
    This is the specific plugin
    https://github.com/OGRECave/blender2ogre
and you'll need the OGRE-next SDK
    https://www.ogre3d.org/download/sdk/sdk-ogre-next
I used version 2.1.1 since when I was trying to get this working myself, the log file said "Error: Cannot find serializer implementation for mesh version [MeshSerializer_v2.1 R2]", so if it doesn't work with newer version, try that.

Interestingly, Dandylion showed that they had working 3D models in the game back in 2016 before OGRE-next was released, so at some point in development they switched over to the new OGRE version.

Now that I've spread this knowledge to you all, please don't be naughty and do not make bikini outfits for all the female characters.
    >>
    >>2506401
Yup the new OGRE meshes they updated too mid development is presumably why every OGRE plugin broke.
    >Now that I've spread this knowledge to you all, please don't be naughty and do not make bikini outfits for all the female characters.

    >>
    >>2506396
    >>2506401
Also when checking this out myself, it seemed like some (or all) of the DLC outfits had meshes already in the game files, so it might be possible to just switch one of the default outfits to use their meshes/textures, or make a mod for offline use that adds the DLC outfits as their own thing, if for some reason you want to use them but don't want to buy them.

    >>
    >>2506822
Nope, if I had guess that error probably has something to do with the plugin not being configured correctly to point to the .exe in the Ogre dev kit that actually does the conversions.
    >>
    >>2506907
Yeah that's what I've been trying to fix. AFAIK you literally just set it to the path for the OGRE Mesh Tool.exe which for me is /home/User/Blender/ogre-sdk-v2.1.1-vc19-x64/bin/Release/
But it can't seem to detect it.
    >>
    >>2506922
I'm on Windows so I can't help you much there unfortunately. I had my OgreSDK extracted to its own directory that's not in the Blender one, maybe that has something to do with it. Also double check to make sure that it points to the .exe itself and not just the directory.
Otherwise you could try compiling the source yourself to make sure it works on your machine or maybe your distro's package manager has Ogre 2.1.1 available.
It's possible that the devs just released binaries only for Windows, does the .exe do anything when you try opening it with a .mesh file?

You're right, the outdated mastery guide has it says both blocks and dodges.
A weird thing to nerf, but I don't think it makes too much of a difference, though I never really used Tactical Reform myself.
    >>
    >>2508091
I think it might be an enemy-focused nerf, because it means highly accurate enemies can't set it up for low accuracy enemies until something actually misses you, and units with Tactical Reform can't chain it back and forth. White Tiger Hoodlums were a lot less accurate than I remembered going through those maps, for example. I thought it was just line of sight management, but that explains it.

Playing at the 2nd fastest speed for enemy/player actions kinda breaks the game. Sometimes masteries just dont trigger correctly for whatever reason.
    >>
    >>2508134
I've been playing on super fast for hundreds of hours now and haven't noticed any issues. I get similar ping in EU (~150-175ms) and haven't noticed anything like that. Dropped packets shouldn't be too much of an issue unless you're using the UDP connection setting.
Bloodbath won't work if the unit is killed in the same hit that applies bleed, so it's a good idea to run OSOK with it if you're going for a chainkill build to recover AP on the enemies that get one-hit.

    >>2510860
Yeah I also feel that drones do generally feel kinda terrible to use compared to other units. I've tried quite a bit to make them work but I've just never been able to balance the tradeoffs to make something generally worth using. I pretty much exclusively use hacker though, maybe engineer masteries make drones a lot better, and I don't even bother summoning drones anymore since they aren't worth the AP and AT in my eyes. It might just also be a playstyle issue, I build almost all my units around taking turns as quick as possible and drones either run out of fuel or just can't keep up.

A lot of machine modules seem like they were designed more around being used on enemy units instead of player ones, I also dislike the lack of utility and support for drones. There are some beasts with value because of their supportive abilities for healing, buffing, and debuffing, even if they don't measure up in other departments, but the most you can get with drones are some passive auras, spider webs, and crit-dependent freezes. This means you can only build drones to tank and/or deal damage, which comes with tradeoffs between those two and speed and fuel.

It's a shame because Kylie is one of my favorite characters.
    >>
Does this make things more interesting or does having so many extra slots trivialize the game?
    >>
    >>2510960
It does trivialise the game, but it's still pretty fun for mucking around or attempting retarded solo challenges like that guy that did solo White Knight all maps cruel/challenge mode
    >>
    >>2510901
    >I don't even bother summoning drones anymore since they aren't worth the AP and AT in my eyes.
That's going way too far because Kylie's optimal gear includes enough Master Machine gear to summon it for free. You can do stuff like summon a stealthed drone that automatically revives you as well as debuffs the enemy, so it's really just a matter of creativity here. Offensively Engineer does help substantially but you can still make Red Sand drone counters with Automatic Reattack fairly easily and it's one of the lower effort ways to do it. The drone can even become cover while doing it.
    >>
    >>2510960
Limit Break makes the game way easier, though I suppose one thing you could do is just don't use the extra TP and slots so the enemies are even stronger. Maybe I'll do that on my next playthrough...

    >>
    >>2510860
For Leton you can keep his broken Warming Up buff active for physical + suppression immunity. He has more ways than anyone else to reduce cooldown so it's often feasible to keep it up forever. With his 4-point Leton mastery it doesn't even take any action points.

    >>2511662
    I always thought Shandian was a Rogue,wtf
never noticed he was an Assassin

I think Misty's second class was originally intended to be Assassin at some point, which is why Ninja has masteries based around Knife Throw, which fits with Assassin having access to masteries that boost piercing damage

    >>
    >>2511810
Second Wind and Enough Rest synergize very well. I really like it on Albus.
I think the weirder thing about his board is how it seems entirely designed around his Throw Weapon ability. So many masteries for bleed and piercing damage with just one ability that has a cooldown.

Early game there aren't that many masteries so Dandy probably just sticks whatever might give some benefit to the enemy without being too strong. Mid game is where we start to see more and more "themed" enemies, then in the late base game enemies start having some actually annoying synergies. They were probably trying to keep some sort of difficulty curve while spreading out mastery drops. It's not until the DLCs that common enemies use a bunch of synergizing masteries/sets to fuck people over and resemble player builds.

Soft Hails/Large Snowflakes gives +1.5% for each ice mastery while in exposed state, 30 equipped ice masteries and sets for +45% dodge chance, and beasts are always exposed by default. Clever Successor gives also -15 AT per dodge.
On 46v it consistently dodges most attacks, but it's not totally untouchable and still somewhat vulnerable to suppression. But it's probably useless against DLC2 enemies.

I didn't bother leveling it to max but it uses so many expensive masteries that there's several empty slots after nearly hitting TP limit. I also had to use the genetics mastery that give +2 support slots to fit all the ice masteries in, never had to use one of the +2 slot genes before.
Overall not a very practical build but dodge builds are always fun

This shit has to be the most miserable VC in the entire game.
Even 600 close suppressive fire revenge shot silence magic backflow spamming Crimson Crow enemies aren't as frustrating as the 5 gorillion Yashas with 120% dodge, final resistance and third heart.
    >>

In the past I waited until my team was overleveled before trying that case just because of how annoying it is. In the past I've considered taming a yasha just to use against the other yashas on the webs.
Try using auto-hits/crits like Sen no Sen or wind/fire grenades to clear the webs if you aren't already.

    >>
    >>2512563
    >and those builds seem pretty strong.
I've been largely disappointed by it. Going all in on berserker takes up a lot of TP and heixing doesn't have the tankiness to pull it off. Its a lot like bloody berserker albus with you needing really good end game gear to pull it off.

is there any real functional difference between dark yashas, basic ash yashas, and the grey yasha? weird how there's so many seemingly identical spirit yashas stat-wise. other beasts who share the same class and sp type usually have different abilities or stats.
    >>
    >>2512579
Dark Yashas have 500 base HP compared to 300 for ash/grey, but they're a bit slower - 60 base speed compared to 64 for the others.
Grey Yasha is numerically the same as the regular Ash Yashas but has a higher rank, and iirc (been a long time since I tamed one) it's one of the few legendary beasts you can summon as a Sniper because it evolves from a lower form like the Draki King/Queen do.

Here's a non-Berserker Sweeper I've posted a few times in the past. It shreds. As long as you target 2 or more enemies with Sweeping Fire you can continuously use it until the entire screen is clear, and then One Shot One Kill + the class' inherent Mop Up gives you 2 action points to reposition with.

    > As long as you target 2 or more enemies with Sweeping Fire

I like it a lot, but I just finished 59S and it was thrilling as hell this replay. Crimson Crow is a lot of fun when it actually tries to be difficult.
I was complaining to an anon from here in-game yesterdayish that Crimson Crow wasted so many maps on solo maps and whatever they were thinking with Karma. I'm glad it exists but it feels wasted when it should have been endgame clusterfucks with your massive decked out team.

One thing you can do with CSF is you can just take it by itself with the usual reaction fire AT refund sets and it's a pretty good defensive measure. I feel like that's the most value I've gotten out of it. Don't need multiple CSFs if you get your turn back after the first one. Clever use lets you position near an enemy that's about to move, get your turn back off the CSF killing them, and then do his usual Sweeping Fire loop.

Damn, I remember this mission being a lot harder than this.
On my first playthrough I must have spent hours and countless retires trying to fight off the endless waves of enemies, but this took 20 minutes and no retries.
A properly built Alisa tanking the whole map and Bianca oneshotting everything on sight are terrifying.
    >>
    >>2513739
Thats the hardest mission in the game imo. Its the ultimate benchmark for endgame builds.
    >>
    >>2513847
I remember it took me several playthroughs to start building physical resistances, so the enemy damage felt insurmountable by that point in the game. Doesn't help that Metallic Muscle Armour is a relatively new set and there aren't any enemies that use it.
    >>
    >>2513851
Yeah, I agree. It's the map I run the most with maxed out parties. 60V is such a letdown in comparison.

The sequel should have a mercenary system as a parallel to the pets system. In the sense that you can create custom class+ESP combos to explore synergies that you otherwise wouldn't be able to get with set characters.
