    >Kingdom Underfire never ever again
Why doesn't anybody make spiritual successor? Nobody did this mix of strategy and action in this way again and I'm tired of replaying Heroes.

all I want is sassy dark elf bitches.
Although the basic concept of having a total war style battle but you can also control your heroes directly in combat could be greatly improved on. It's fundamentally fun but pretty limited in KuF
    >>
    >>2492010
Other than the usual bug fixes and balancing to make useless units better I do wish they expanded the strategy side of it.

Maybe before the battle starts you could place units on certain maps just like in total war depending on how you want to approach the battle. Personally would love to see sieges too, like getting the opportunity to rush up a ladder and fight on top of the wall would be cool. Maybe make it even more "open world" just so the player really feels like a general moving his units about. Also for having a game called "The Crusaders" there was not one crusader state equivalent like a human kingdom in Vellond who could have their own unique hybrid roster of human core forces and then local dark elven auxiliaries with perhaps like some dark elf Varangian guard for the human king.

I resent that implication, it's only a nice bonus. Besides they are by far the most common units in the game you fight: Humans vs Dark Elves, Orcs vs Dark Elves, Elves vs Dark Elves, Dark Elves vs Dark Elves. There's seemingly an infinite supply of dark elf warrior chicks so you will be staring at their ass or tits at one point.
    >>
If they replaced all the dark elf girls with dark elf dudes, you wouldn't give a shit.
    >>
    >>2491901
Funnily enough, it's the only strategy game I can think of where the position of the Sun matters.
    >>
    >>2492643
Yes I would. In fact I bet that if you did that (and made the appropriate changes setting-wise) it would be more well known because it would be more marketable to a wider audience, people like you wouldn't complain about naked elf ass, and goyhammer nerds would be able to squint and pretend they're playing gw title.
    >>
I tried kingdom under fire a war of heroes and it's shit. Reminds me of a bad budget version of Warcraft or Warlords Battlecry. It feels really unresponsive and generic as hell too. Crusaders and Heroes were flukes by the developers because they've otherwise released mediocre shit and even then they're filled with bugs and glitches and Heroes insane difficulty ranges from Hard to Dante Must Die mode. Apparently the next game is meant to be some MMO based on NFT's? What is wrong with south koreans?
    >>
What a rollercoaster of a series
    >started with a traditional RTS
    >then turned into a squad based mini mosou combo
    >then became a regular normal ass hack and slash dungeon crawler
    >then a MMO
    >>
    >>2494227
The little experience I have with Korean studios is that they make either the most monolithic and never-changing things ever, or refuse to ever have two games in a series even in the same genre-group.
    >>
    >>2493799
    >What is wrong with south koreans?
Making an MMO is just seen as the end-goal for a studio there, I guess? The only studio from SK I know of that hasn't made either an MMO or gacha game at one point is Dandylion, and Troubleshooters has some weird multiplayer integration.

The NFT thing is a new development though. Surprises me that Nexon wasn't the first to that, but it also surprises me that NFTs are even being tried at this point. That market has to be microscopic by this point, right?
    >>
    >>2494268
They re-released War of Heroes but replaced the old multiplayer with "Blockchain technology", whatever that means. They seem to be completely out of touch.
    >>
    >>2491901
Thank God, another KUF fan. We are a small tribe. I don't know how we could get more of The Crusaders or Heroes done right, let alone a larger-scale genre. They already fucked up by taking an unnecessary risk and making that goofy ass MMORTS that nobody asked for. For that matter, they have a history of reinventing the wheel: Circle of Doom was a batshit genre shift as well. I want my dark fantasy prog metal game with sexy (and as another anon said, sassy) dark elves/vampires again. It was also nice having a fantasy game that wasn't afraid of having some semi-grounded early gunpowder weapons. Are Koreans just retarded? Do we need another Sejong to make them unretarded again?
    >>
    >>2494549
The only hope is modding which has been moving at a glacial pace. The unofficial community patch promises to make modding easier. Other than that someone has to make a not!kuf copy.
    >>

    >>2494268
It was MMOs back then. Nowadays it's gachas.

Asians and especially Koreans cannot resist the call of the swarm. Everyone was making F2P MMOs in 2008 so they ruined KuF2 for it. I guess their next game was conceived when NFTs were "the next big thing".
    >>

    >>
    >>2499135
Can someone but the IP off them? Asians are retarded
    >>
    >>2500306
Do you need the IP though? The setting wasn't really the appeal for me at least, and you can't copyright gameplay systems.
The name is very niche as well, so it's not like a different studio would want to pick it up for name recognition if they wanted to throw their hat in the ring of whatever KUF might be classed as.
    >>
    >>2500592
    >you can't copyright gameplay systems.
except you can, WB patented the nemesis system from shadow of middle earth
    >>
    >>2500666
That's patents, not copyright. Lasts only a fraction of the time (20 years as opposed to basically in perpetuity with copyright at this point) and can only be given to novel ideas. Nothing in Kingdoms Under Fire should reasonably be patentable (but the characters and setting is copyrightable). You can make as many squad-tactics muso hybrids as you want and no-one could stop you, probably. The problem is that what you or I find reasonable and novel and what a patent lawyer with little knowledge of the field finds reasonable and novel are two different things.

You also can challenge a patent in several ways and on several grounds if it wasn't reasonable to be given out to begin with, but I don't think you can easily challenge a copyright unless you can prove that someone else ripped off your exact IP, or near enough. If someone with enough conviction and money wanted to they could challenge WB on their patent and maybe win.
Twenty years at this point honestly feels stifling, but it's a much lesser clamp down than copyright at this point. Trademarks are pretty chill in the trio and isn't involved in nearly as many dumbshit decisions as the other two.

Depends on how much is copied from the gameplay systems I guess. But knock-offs do exist anyway. I can only see it becoming a problem if a game does hit big and the kuf devs want a piece of the pie when it looks like some systems were copied wholesale. As for the aesthetics then they're generic enough that you can't really get into trouble and the only memorable characters I recall is Walter and the dark elves. My biggest worry on that front is that we'll never get delfs like this again; people make female characters intentionally ugly or design baby-face neotene bimbos like it's an anime when kuf ones are obviously meant to be classic white woman supermodels who are shallow and bitchy.

Man what were they thinking? People knew Heroes more than the Crusaders and instead of having 2 gemmies back to back they halfassed it.

    >invincible enemies
I am 90% sure this was in the original game if you're talking about stuff like Leinhart and Regnier being invincible when they first appear. It's one of the curveballs that takes Heroes difficulty up a notch.

The rest I personally never had an issue with on win7 except pathfinding which atrociously dogshit. Not sure how they made it worse but it's by far the most frustrating issue. There is a community patch that apparently fixes it but I've not tried it since for some fucking reason they debuffed frontal damage by 12.5% to bring it back to Crusader values. Heroes cavalry damage was in a good place especially since the power of cavalry immediately makes spearmen not completely useless and they absolutely have a niche as anti-elemental units and are used to soften the huge number of units that are thrown at you at a machine guns pace in later campaigns. I hate when community patches decide to change game mechanics instead just fixing bugs.

Heroes > Crusaders. I 100% believe the full vision for the universe and mechanics were realized in Heroes and that is why people referred to it the most in internet discussion pre-steam ports and Heroes' gutted port itself.

Gameplay-wise the recycling EXP was an objective improvement and an amazing encouragement for experimentation instead of always doing the same cavalry > archer combination. Sure, you could just make saves in Crusaders and reload them to keep fine-tuning your new structure, but Heroes streamlined that process and it even gave you the extermination missions to be more ambitious.

The custom battle option stacked on this idea, you could even play as the Crusader characters if you wanted a place to test your shit.

Gerald got fucked over by being the tutorial guy, and he was also kind of a bitch for a good while of the story before he finally got his shit together when he meets Kendal. Ellen and Rupert had more entertaining campaigns especially Rupert, they were the actual hard-carriers for Hironeiden, by feats alone.

Yeah those two are better than the main character. Too bad it's the big guy who bites it against Regnier. I also might have been overly harsh on them because I thought it was obvious they and their kingdom got fooled into joining a war with the most obvious falseflag ever but then Heroes reveals that the holy kingdom did get direct help from Dark Elf rebels to make it more believable.
    >>
    >>2508723
Even the scuffed port is better in my recent replay of both games. The music in heroes is just straight better, the voice actors were much better in general, and the campaigns were better (less tutorials). Playing Crusaders after beating Heroes makes the entire experience a snoozefest in terms of difficulty.
    >>2508937
Other than half of crusaders feeling like one big tutorial I've noticed human campaigns are generally worse. Ecclesians are way more memorable than the other human faction and humans in general have too much scripted or tutorially sections in their campaigns. Rupert's, disregarding the first 2 levels, is the closest you get to feeling like a classic ground-pound across the continent smashing delf skulls in capped off with one of the hardest levels in game. Walter's is cool but just look at the line up over all and humans get the short end of the stick by far.

Gerald, Kendal, Walter, Rupert, Ellen vs Leinhart, Lucretia, Regnier, Cirith, Morene, Urukubarr,
    >>
    >>2508995
ngl Cirith's campaign was a genuine letdown and i won't be swayed off this thought. What do you mean we have to deal with Lucretia 2.0 but worse and uglier while a prancing, zesty nigga is thirsting for Cirith while she has to babysit her retarded kleptomaniac of a sister, while a whole ass war in which Morene personally sook Cirith to be a spy in, is going in the background?

I was left with the anticipation that Cirith would have been Walter's mirrpr in doing black ops for Morene while killing anyone who could be sniffing around the ancient heart's drama, leaving Morene a relatively clean path off Regnier and Walter to the AH and perhaps even confronting Lucretia one last time, but no.
    >>
    File: cirith2.png (473 KB, 801x1100)
    473 KB PNG
    >>2509221
Cirith's is one of the best and it's clearly meant to be Rupert's mirror.
Gameplay wise the levels are simple but let you approach how you want and there's no buggy levels or overly long scripted sequences. The way they organised some of the bonus levels into an entire separate redundant branch on the campaign map that leads to another optional town you can enter is really cool and should've been done in more campaigns, definitely makes Cirith's one feel the most open.
Story wise, like Rupert's, it's meant to be the comedy campaign but for the evil side. I can see how the little zesty nigga can get annoying (you could say this is a good thing since you get how Cirith feels about him) but the rest of the characters are fine. I think it's meant to show the typical dark elf army experience, which is 1-2 people tard wrangling everyone else and demonstrates why dark elves never united and are the settings equivalent of 60IQ niggers. The one tender moment at the end before they all get obliterated by Encablossa is kino though

    >Awful taste
I was talking about Dyesa my man, Cirith's commander that tried to get her killed so that Elcam stopped simping for her.

I don't know man, I think the exposition on the dysfunctional society drows had on top of being ruled over by Vampires was more than exposed with Lucretia's campaign when they were already hinting at secession through Kaedes and Morene's remarks about their race being nothing more than tribal niggers introduced to actual civilization by the vamps, like pic related. I think Cirith's shouldn't have been so filler-coded, not when she's all about infiltration and working together with Morene out of implied loyalty and being favored by her.

Maybe I'm just being too stubborn and should let it go, but I just wanted more out of the Drow perspective on the War. We got Leinhart and Morene, yeah, but one was about how he turned on Waldemar and the other was how Vellond ended up being destroyed after their ambitions blew on their faces. Lucretia was the drow grunt who only got the real truth at the end, and I think Cirith should have developed on these truths in her campaign.

The Dark Elves dressing in practically scalemail lingerie or tribal loincloths because they had innate regeneration abilities as long as they were near trees it made me realize these broads are actually crazy on a cultural level. They really just take their healing for granted and pimp themselves out with amethysts, gold and other jewelry to head into battle and can shrug off stab wounds or arrow fire as long as they don't push it. That's the hottest shit ever.

Rumen made this point and outright stated it was better than just killing each other over patches of sand. Ilfa too, because she wanted to be in Waldemar's circle and be a half-vampire. Both were still wrong that Vampires were the better allies instead of Hironeiden, though.

If there was an iteration of Elves that needed BHC to stabilize and prosper, it was the vells.

Those eye-markings and clothes are similar to Morene's. I know Vellond was fashioned off being leather-BDSM aesthetics, but maybe to be a real Vampire, or a half-vampire, you gotta make a deal with Encablossa?
    >>
    >>2509919
KuF delves will never be united because of Kaedes. To be a trad true Dark Elf you apparently need to be in a constant state of endemic intraspecies warfare; the crab bucket mentality is baked into the species on an instinctual level (especially if you believe they really were created or at least influenced by Encablossa) and the only things they seem to understand is force, coercion, and raiding.
That said I would love to see a Human-Elf hybrid roster gameplay wise. I believe it would actually be the Ecclesians who would try something like that believing the best defense is a good offense and establish a tiny kingdom inside Vellond with the sole purpose of meddling with Dark Elf affairs. The Dark Elves would be happy as long as they get to fight each-other.

I doubt we'll get another game though so we can only satisfy ourselves by glitching in controllable dark legion units when playing as humans in Heroes.
    >>
    >>2509961
I can 100% imagine Ecclesia making that gamble, Hironeideans are made for Light Elf pussy. However I do not think the Vells are that irredeemable and I am 50/50 speaking for my dick when I say a single dark elf protectorate (in this case Ecclesia) could encourage a less niggery lifestyle and outlook. Encablossa created the Orcs and look how chill they are.

I don't think they ever met. In Morene's campaign he does appear but it makes no sense given the timeline of events and the fact that they were meant to torture information out a human and Walter would never break makes no sense; it's likely meant to be a placeholder for another patriarchal captain. I also doubt Morene lore-wise is as powerful as Walter is, this being the guy who managed to outfight the 3 armies specifically sent to stop him during his campaign for long enough to complete his quest. Walter's special ability may also put him near par with Regnier though I never tested it myself.

Really? I never thought so, especially when she's an amazing crowd-clearer with her A+A attack and her Y special. Also you're right, it's funny that Ellen even eluded Justino's attention despite the man being canonically notorious for an inquisitor.

What's the best way to play these games? The uh backstory of these dark elves look interesting.

    >the half-elven menace is driven to the jungle it belongs to and now has a chance to raise the monkeys' racial IQ and beauty standards a bit
    Smart.

Ellen came off to me like a mechanically weaker Cirith. Natrually Cirith needed to be stronger because her campaign is more difficult but the lightning attack special beats Ellen's gay bow attack every time.

Play Heroes, it's simply way better and the difficulty is part of it. If you have an original xbox you can pick up the game cheap at most second-hand game stores or you can pirate the gog or steam port which unfortunately has some shitty issues.
I suggest the unofficial community patch but if you want the authentic experience you'll want to turn off the damage "fixes" they suggest and you'll also want to turn off the resistance fix so you get the closest experience to original. The PC port also has degraded unit pathfinding, some save file issues, and buggy elven text so definitely have those fixes. Also make sure you get a controller unless you want to break your fingers playing.

Speaking of which does anybody know a program that can repackage .xwb files? Lucretia's dialogue is fucked and you can literally hear the voice actress do multiple takes since they didn't cut the audio properly in Heroes.

Listen, folks, there are people in Hexter, okay, and I'll tell you they do not have Hironeiden's best interests at heart. I just got off the phone, alright, with the P------- of Ecclesia, good man by the way, and we had a very good conversation. Very productive good conversation. Now, what the fake news [deep breath] what the fake news would have you believe, okay, is that Regnier poses no threat to Hironeiden, and Bersia for that matter. But our brave armed forces, see, I've spoken with one of our generals, good man, a trustworthy man, Walden, about our national security.

Nah these are rips from the abandoned Bannerlord conversion mod Bersia at War. Of course, shitterlord being a fucking disappointment and being constantly broken stifled any progress for that idea.

Sadly not much it seems they didn't even add bones to the models, so T posing it is.

There's something hot about Morene being taller than Cirith but still dominant over the taller Lucretia
