    STARCRAFT IS RETURNING
    As an open-world shooter

On a scale of Over to Over, how Over is it for RTS?
    >>
    >>2488400
    RTS exists outside of blizzard
    >>
    >It ends up being a Valorant clone.
The Golden Century of Real Time Strategy is upon us.
    >>
    >>2488400
What makes you think blizzard would make a good RTS game when their latest WC3 campaign is made by dogshit Hive modders and looks like absolute garbage.
    >>
    >>2488427
I don't care whether it's good, I just want large companies to continue making them
    >>
In an alternate universe where SC was a bigger deal than WC, they have World of Starcraft, just imagine.
    >>

    >On a scale of Over to Over, how Over is it for RTS?
RTS at Blizzard died the day WoW was released and got officially buried with no honors when the superstar team behind SC2 got the boot.
If you were expecting these fucks with no RTS development experience and no reason to even try to make a new RTS game, well that's a problem on your end.

They will only entertain the idea if SOMEONE ELSE does and succeeds with it first.
Same as those remakes of theirs. And Classic WoW. They could only unfuck Overwatch by copying a Chinese game, that's how Over it is for Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard.
    >>
But bro, we got female marines in the new STARCRAFT game, I'd say the progressive gesture more than makes up for the fact that the game is set in a different genre!
    >>
    >>2488491
    >I just want large companies to continue making them
well go play AOE 2 DE, AOE 3 DE and AOM DE then
    >>
    >>2488400
One look at that screencap and I can already tell it's going to be shit.
    >>
    >open-world shooter
    ...in what sense?
Anyway given how Blizzard seems to be giving up and going back to milk the classics some more I think there's a chance they'll sell a new campaign or two for SC1 and/or SC2 ($40, made by a contracted modder)
    >>
If its like natural selection 1 it will be GOAT
    >>
    >>2489016
It's what Blizzard said the new Starcraft will be rather than RTS.
    >>
    >>2489040
yes, i got it. what i mean is that i don't know what that really means.
    >>
    >>2489016

They don't know either, it's just buzzwords for the investors. Probably haven't even started working on the game yet.

They'll halfass it by making Overwatch with Starcraft skins and bigger maps.
    >Pick one of several classes from Terran infantry.
    >Added vehicles to spice it up.
    >Other players pick Zerg units like in AvP2's multiplayer; high mobility but limited attack options like the Xenomorphs.
    >Protoss are DLC.
    >You move in the world from arena to arena like in WoW.
It's gonna be shit and they would make more money by releasing another SCII expansion pack.

Blizzard doesn't make games anymore just store fronts for whales. I'd also note I like the idea of this game honestly they couldn't of made a starcraft 3 rts because how retard the ending of starcraft 2 was. I wonder why they turned the Queen of Blades into a higher being made of light.

Hoping same thing happens here, but I doubt it. Wouldn’t be surprised if this shit gets canceled.
    >>
    >>2492997
The Bureau was a third person squad tactics shooter, not an fps. It's also not nearly as bad as the people who didn't play it think it was. I'm not saying it was good, mostly because of the shitty levels (from the "chest-high walls everywhere" school of game design) and dogshit AI for both allies and enemies, but it had some pretty neat aspects as well, including one of my favorite third-act twists inn videogames.

They did accurately capture the kind of 80IQ mutts that sign up for the marines in San Diego
    >>
    >>2493057
agreed, it was like bargain bin mass effect and obviously tried riding on that wave, but it just didn't have that same depth. But it wasn't an absolute waste of time, compared to the average release today it would probably be considered great

    >...in what sense?
I can only presume in the Helldivers 2 sense. Setting it during the Dominion and having the mean just be meat under Mengsk's government just screams SUPER EARTH in every way. Personally I'm going to name my character(s) after Civil War soldiers and yell about the Confederacy over the microphone in a thick southern dialect.
    >>
    >>2488811
IIRC there was a neurally resocialized female Confederate marine in the first Starcraft novel. She gets smoked by the Zerg pretty early.
    >>
    >>2495937
    >thick southern
    tautology
    heheheh
    >>
    >>2495938
The third novel is about a Confederate marine squad with a female marine lieutenant.
They just didn't bother to include sound variations for male/female marines in the game because you know, clarity. Imagine switching between 60000 voice lines where you have nigger marines speaking ebonics, asian marines speaking ching chong, female versions of that, etc
    >>
    >>2496033
I don't think I read that one. Surprised I even remembered Emily Swallow from the first paperback because it's been so long since I read it. Came out in like 2001, but I must have read it in middle school a few years later after finding it in a Waldenbooks. Good novel.
    >>
    >>2488400

Last year I replayed the SC2 campaigns. Overall I liked the Terran campaign in SC2 but everything after that was shit and cartoony. Even the changes to unit rosters in skirmish was stupid. Fucking dune buggies transforming into firebat mechs? The story reads like a teen-fantasy novel. Ignoring the WoWification of SC2, even in the Terran campaign (2010) you can now notice small things. In the story, subtle voice lines, and even some expressions/animations. All are from the same embers, sparked by the fags who would make everything lame and gay down the line, that over time we saw turn into roaring flames that went around, in some gay combo of both incompetence and intentionality, fucking up every gaming franchise we ever loved.

(The incompetence and intentionality combo actually seems to fit with their whole mentally ill m.o. of dissonate ideals. Pro-Palestine + LGBT, label everyone a Nazi + hate the Jews, Animal Rights + PETA, etc.)

Honestly, I don't think Blizzard has the talent to produce another RTS right now. Hell, just a year ago I had the thought "I hope Blizzard never remembers that StarCraft exists" and here we are. Frankly, I'm glad it's not gonna be an RTS. The genre struggles enough and is being held up almost entirely by AoE2 right now. IF Blizzard gets it's shit together somehow then maybe in another 10 years we'll get a SC3 and it'll actually be SC and not Warcraft/Gaycraft/Goycraft in space.

    >SC/BW BNet is almost completely dead as far as custom games goes and outside of a few players on ranked matchmaking ladder

    >>

WoL was made by the last BW devs, after it was released they all left Blizzard and formed their own studio that eventually shat out Shitgate.

It was HotS and LotV that were made by nu-devs.

    >WoL was made by the last BW devs, after it was released they all left Blizzard and formed their own studio that eventually shat out Shitgate.
That is completely and horribly wrong.
Literally not a single person who worked on Brood War worked on Shartfart.
(((((Tim Morten))))) worked on Legacy of the Void as a producer when the project was months from release.
One dude worked on the engine for SC2.
The fat retard worked on some of WC3's campaign design which is why Shartfart's campaign was just WC3 human campaign again.

It’s not going to be shit because it’s a shooter. RTS-to-shooter translations have the potential to be great. See: C&C Renegade
It’s going to be shit because Blizzard has been shit for many years and has none of the soul of its 90s games left

If they rob the grave of Helldivers 2 it might be alright. Stratagems in shooter gameplay are cool and calling in Goliath support or shit like that would be neat. The question is whether Blizzard are intelligent enough to actually make good games anymore.

Id care if it was like those alien vs predator old games and you could actually play as the three races and you got completely different gameplay with each

Blizzard will never make RTS again since they're a corpo who always chased trends and got buckbroken by DoTA.

It could have some potential if you start as a marine, level up and be promoted to other units like firebat or marauder, and then further use vultures and battleships to own the battlefield.
But it's DIE infected blizzard, so it's going to be just some boring shit.
