    is it fun?
unlike other city builders it actually has a beginning middle and ending state, right? is it replayable?

Good Lord. Truly one of the worst looking games I have ever seen. Including Atari 2600.

Not darkswitch. It's a blatant frostpunk clone with shit UI, the blandest writing I ever saw and very janky gameplay
    >>
    >>2477673
Yeah it was always crap compared to the much more polished 1st game.
I remember learning that the guy who programmed the incredible creature AI in B&W1 now works for some federal stuff.

I'm surprised I've never heard of a fantasy builder/logistic/production/management sim, other than Recettear I guess
There's so much potential you could pull off with having to manage different resources whilst trying to get different species of employees productive and stuff like that: like choosing whether to build an industrial district managed by efficient yet grumbling dwarves or by dangerous yet versatile gobbos, or something along those lines

    >>2477037
I am mildly interested in this one as well

Yeah, B&W2 is a pretty underwhelming city builder with a bad military aspect. Even for it's time it felt kinda outdated. If it weren't for the name it would be forgotten among other shovelware of the era. Though lionhead while it still existed disavowed all games except fable anyway and bnw1 was also more of a cult classic and frankly not actually that good of a game. Everyone remembers the memes from first and second island that were an extended tutorial and had a lot of side quests, funny voice acting and all that. Not the slog of 3 or 5 where you spend hours watering trees because wood was the limiting factor for building houses and getting the reach into the next village.

Sorta like that, but with more fantasy shit than plain kurwa bobrs
    >>

Against the storm maybe? You have a bunch of races with a town ending with up to 3 of them and they are good at different things and have different needs. Many resources can be gained in different ways too so you are figuring out how to efficiently get to advanced goods playing to your strengths and what is available on the map.
The gameplay is most notable for it's roguelite progression though where you try to combo to limp over the wincon in time, so it's less open ended and you don't get much time to build a town.

Oh I've played it but I don't really consider it a traditional comfy citybuilder
A lot of the later stuff especially feel more like puzzles rather than management challenges, where you kinda run it once to see what the bullshit is and then

    >Kairosoft
It's impressive how much they recycle between most of their games, and then they'll strike out with something that's actually slightly interesting, only for that to either not be further developed at all, or become the next thing to constantly recycle.
I'll take a gamble on one of their titles every once in a while. It's usually shit, but sometimes you get a game that you can play for 10+ hours that makes it slightly worth it. For a couple of bucks per since it's just old-school mobile games at old-school mobile prices it just barely makes it worth it. Don't really get how they stay in business when the rest of the market doesn't really do this sort of stuff anymore.
    >>
    >>2478999
Sound like Songs of Syx. Didn't get far in that, but managing fantasy races and resources in a city builder is the entire premise there.

I kinda liked Leviathan's Fantasy, though it was more like a grindy Majesty clone than a full city builder.
Too bad the Chink studio making it got banned from Steam (twice!) for posting bot reviews of their own games.

    >>
    >>2477673
It was bad even at the time. I actually had a shitload of fun building cities, but it was extremely easy to win just building and occasionally blocking incoming attacks with little to no effort. And it was so fucking dumbed down, the creature mechanics removed all effort and mystery and made it clear how retarded everything was. And to add on top of it, the military was as barebones as it comes.

Still a fun game, in the end, but one I think of as a comfy city builder than a god simulator like its predecessor.
    >>
    >>2476337
hmm, dwarf fortress or songs of syx, i guess. or would those be more like "colony sims"?

    >Chink studio making it got banned from Steam (twice!) for posting bot reviews of their own games.
wtf i love steam now. they probably didn't bribe them enough. i swear tons of no-name games have botted reviews, and none of the online game stores give a shit.

    >a lot of side quests, funny voice acting and all that
Oh, you mean THE FUCKING SHIP CREW with their SHIT, UNSKIPPABLE SONG that you CAN'T FUCKING SKIP and THEY SING ALL THE TIME and YOU CAN'T EVEN FIREBALL THEM because dev is proud of himself for including these INSUFFERABLE FUCKS."OHH LOOK HERE YOUR FUCKING NPCS SING A FUCKING SONG AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU PAID FOR THIS PIECE OF SHIT GAME YOU FUCK".

It's a game that makes you feel bad for pirating it. Because you're responsible for creating one more copy in the world, like the ring video.

Piracy, probably. I don't think it's available on Steam anymore unless you can find a key somewhere else. You can still play it if you bought it before though.
I actually have the game in my library twice. I bought it before they got banned the first time, then I got a free key for the second version from the dev's discord before they got banned the second time.

The Total War town design and categories and patterns of the Total War games is not complicated but there was a tech tree and that sort of thing I think
