>24 year old game>universally panned story on release>considered “mid”>sells today for $19.99Why can’t westerners make good games anymore? Trannies?
>>4138980>Trannies?probably yes. mental illness ruins everyone. worse than alcoholism and drug abuse. well trannielords also abuse different kind of drugs.also they made them less and less moddable over time? also lack of people making woman fantasy grape fiction like A Dance with Rogues.
>>4138994>trannielordstrannieladies, chud
>>4138991Loved these little easter eggs in BG1.
>>4138997>chudi will assume genders and you will like it. and play Dance with Rogues as a hobbit.
>>4138991>boomers shat their pants in excitement for this
>made in 2021>sells for 72,300 kopecks ($9.00)Has there been a more brutal logging since the Gorbachev Pizza Hut video?
>>4138980>universally panned story on releaseUh, no, its story was seen as average to above average.>considered midIt was considered pivotal and ground-breaking. What crack rocks are you smoking here retard? Why are you being such a revisionist retard?
>>4138980No one likes the OC retard, it's popular because of modules.
>>4139260i like the OC, why does everyone think it's bad?
>>4138980>>considered “mid”The only mid thing about it was the original campaign. Undrentide still wasn't perfect, but it has it's fun moments, Underdark was almost Mask of Betrayal level of kino.
>>4139467>why does everyone think it's bad? They have 8 INT irl.
>>4139467Because it's 20 hours of killing hordes of trash mobs for 7xp and a 300xp quest reward, pretty much every container is locked and trapped even if it makes no sense, and there's absolutely nothing of value worth looting anyway. Just an unrewarding slog with a mediocre story and very little roleplaying.
I'm almost at the end of chapter 2 of the OC. currently trying to beat a fire elemental that spawns while trying to free the Lich guy at the Arcane Brotherhood. How much harder is it going to be from here? (I'm a wizard) Because for the most part, the game has been easy, especially since resting has no consequence. It's just incredibly tedious to go through these huge dungeons full to the brim with the same trash mobs all for each side quest, just hoping it'll give enough XP to not leave me stupidly underleveled for the next story section.I don't think I'd be able to handle if it was slow, and difficult at the same time, since that would increase play time exponentially as I try different ideas to finish an encounter.Should I just watch the Josh Strife Hayes video for the story recap and sharp witty humor, then play the DLC campaign instead? Or is it more of the same? Also, I played through the Baldur's Gate games recently. What the everloving fuck happened? I expected a more gradual decline in story-telling. Not this.
>>4139524The final chapter of the OC can be pretty tough. Suddenly you're fighting balors and dragons and shit.Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark are made by different devs to the OC so they're much better designed. People bash Undrentide, but imo the only problem with it is that the low level combat encounters are pretty bullshit.
>>4139524NWN was made to be a playground for making your own modules, so the OC is a rushjob. HotU is the only one out of three that is 100% worth playing, and you might enjoy SoU. Chronologically, SoU should be playing before HotU but you won't miss anything storywise.
>>4139684Hotu is the best, oc has 2 OK chapters. Sou is lame, netheril shit like bg3.
>>4138980It's mismanagement. The consequence of this mismanagement is 'trannies', yes, but it could be bible-thumpers if that was what the management were favouring
>>4139517It's amazing how absolutely shit-eating this take is.
>>4138980In the OC there is a guy on the Jury who calls you a tranny if you playing female character and hit on him.
>>4139936>shit-eating this take is.One of your specialties, someone who truly enjoys the NWN campaign.
>>4138980That game was literally free on GOG and the Enhanced Edition has been sold for a pittance like 20 fucking times now, man.
>>4139517It honestly feels like the precursor to WoW's game design on that front. Absolutely fucking terrible. SoU really cleaned the game up to acceptable levels and HotU was actually good in spite of being an epic level campaign.
>>4139079>brutal loggingYou're a lumberjack, and you're okay.
>>4139936As someone who actually enjoyed OC I have to say he's pretty spot on (except for the story part, I actually liked the story even more than both of the so "acclaimed" expansions). The campaign would've been so much better if they made dungeons shorter, with less monsters but harder ones and so meaninful loot and exp instead of having 500 chests locked just for them to give you like 10g and a carrot each. Also the whole thing of loot being level dependent is ass. You pretty much have to wait until level 6 to actually get something useful in random loot. And this means completing most of the first act without looting and then when you finally reach level 6 backtrack all the zones and dungeons looting everything you avoided before. Also the whole thing of being able to savescum before opening boss chests to reset their content so you can get the exact item you want. It's just bad design all around.I still enjoyed it because of the comfy early 2000s game vibes and Soule's music. The story is not bad either imo, the whole thing with Aribeth is really interesting. But the game itself plays more like an ARPG hack and slash rather than a CRPG.Expansions are ok. Way better designed gameplay wise overall, fixing most of the problems I mention before. But also they are pretty boring story wise. I unironically think The Wailling Death has a much more interesting story than both SoU and HotU
