I’ve finished Act 1 in Pathfinder, mostly played to test builds and learn the game systems. I’ve done a lot of research on the Pathfinder 1E rules and decided to go with a Battle Oracle Angel build. I plan to restart the campaign from scratch, applying everything I’ve learned.
I’m aiming to play on the Core difficulty, but I’ve seen many people say it’s not recommended for beginners—so, I’ve made a few adjustments (pic) to create a "custom-Core" setup. Do you think this will be manageable? Also, should I set enemy critical hit damage to weak or keep it at normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated—thanks in advance!

You can adjust the difficulty during the game so it's really not a big deal. I started on daring and finished on a custom hard+

Battle oracle angel is pretty strong so you'll probably want to up things to core once you're a few mythic levels in.
    >>
Oracle is such a stupid class. Yes, it's busted good, but what the fuck is it even supposed to represent? Such stupid bloat in Pathfinder.
After I finished the game with a custom party, I tried solo'ing it with a gestalt char paladin/oracle and it was absolutely disgusting, I couldn't even finish that run
    >>
    My suggestion
Do not embark on the path of restartitis. You will never stop, you will never get to the actual game. You will always see something you could have improved and want to restart just to do it better or try something different.

Never played WotR. Do you *need* to play Kingmaker to enjoy this?
    >>
    >>4133352
    Not really, no.
    >>
    >>4133358
    How so?
    >>
    >>4132913
you can't get any real enjoyment out of sperging until you already know the game (like, e.g. the obscure spread of 5 items that makes some stupid build work and which could not possibly be predicted when you start blind), so just stick to a single class on a comfortable difficulty. If you're sperg enough for a replay that's when you can put the pedal to the metal

There is no plot relation, and even though Wrath has more QoL features and additional mechanics, kingmaker stands on it's own if you decide to play it later (and even if you feel it does not, it has quite a few mods that give you access to things even WotR does not have).
    >>
    >>4132913
Increased is actually easier as you get much more xp
    >>4133140
Almost all classes suck. Primalist is awesome.

It's a psychological issue for the weak minded. They want to play god in a dead world.

Are there any small turbans like pic in this game?

It might benefit you to not play kingmaker first.
Wrath has horrible pacing and if you played and expected kingmaker again the first acts will feel like they just drag on. Also whereas kingmaker's minigame is a very love it or hate it thing, wrath's crusade minigame is universally hated. Wrath has more classes and variety, more qol, and epic level progression, but in many ways kingmaker is a better game.

I wanna play on Unfair, but the only viable build i can come up with is Witch of the Veil Invisibility abuse. Is there something else besides that which specs into Lich?
    >>
    >>4134433
I would never play an RPG on such a silly difficulty that it curtailed my roleplaying choices by necessitating one of a handful of cheesy builds.
    >>
    >>4134435
I understand, but it to me it feels like i can only take the World/Game seriously this way.
    >>

Fair enough. Hope you have fun.

Iirc (haven’t played wrath since it came out) I was playing on something halfway between core and “hard”. I generally favor something like “more enemy abilities/AI, extra enemies, but normal stats without boosts” because to me stat boosts are lazy and stupid difficulty, and triggers my tism cause they’re not “right”
    >>
    >>4134433
Any pure spellcaster with a starting petpet works (more do work, but gets a bit tedious)
    >>
    >>4134433
There's tons of builds you can use on unfair. Thee only question is if you want to waste your time rerolling when the centipede with +8 in every stat 1 shots you. The tutorial zone is the hardest part of unfair. Go look up CRPGBro or something on Youtube, he has like 100 unfair builds for almost every class.

    >??????
He's saying Kingmaker will make you not enjoy Wrath because it's worse, so play Wrath first. That's just his opinion though. Wrath was better then Kingmaker in every way according to me and my opinion is the only thing that matters to me.

The water elemental is actually the final boss.
    >>
    >>4134469
I find the water elemental easier then the mongrels with berserk who don't die right away. You get to pop all the scrolls they give you specifically for that fight.

    >>
    >>4136757
    >>4136774
This, you can do whatever you want on normal. There's 0 challenge to it. The most OP build for normal is whatever the most OP build for unfair is.
    >>
    >>4137525
It's the dickhead path. There's an actual devil path. Just look up a guide for it. You have to start with specific good paths and then you unlock it late game.
    >>
    >>4132913
The whole game is an if-then gate. If you have the right buffs and abilities, the game is laughably easy. If you don't, it's unplayable. It doesn't really matter if the enemies crit is weak or normal. What will determine if you win are things like "do I have a buff that blocks that spell" and "can I target flat footed/touch AC". In fact, the touch AC is probably the primary thing to worry about. If you can target touch AC, you will win every fight.
    >>
Took a look at classes and pretty sure I'll want an IW. Less sure about the weapon to focus on, and I really don't want to look up every damn unique, so a couple of questions.
Are greataxes and greatswords just flat out better than greatclubs and heavy flails?
Are earth breakers all big gay mallets or there are some proper giant maces as well?
Are elven weeb swords just flat out better than falchions on account of the exotic proficiency?
Can scythes be made to work outside the meme mystic path, or there's just no overcoming that awful base crit range otherwise?
    >>
    >>4137525
There's two demon paths. It is either a toady or uncontrollable psychopath.
    >>
    >>4132913
Battle angel oracle is THE most overpowered thing in the game, it will crush hard and below.
A crusader cleric is honestly just as, if not more powerful, and may be easier to understand for new players. Archer build or shield bash build on it is pretty kino on Angel...

A paladin will be strong on Angel path but not overpowered.

Honestly Kingmaker is a smoother ride for your first game, more grounded characters, story etc. I highly recommend chaotic good archaelogist bard. Which is up there in power in the first game, not so much the second because many things are overpowered.

The length of Wrath is HUGE too, you might feel it is a slog in many places if you don't know how to build things to mow stuff down.

Get bubble buffs though and don't torture yourself with manual buffing.
I'd suggest the respec mod as well, it's so easy to make a tiny wrong decision that has you hoofing back to town to pay for a respec and tedious, and you can clean up any companion build you don't really like. There's no point to playing Wrath like a purist whatsoever.
Toybox automatically puts achievements back too, you don't have to get deep on it.

If you want a great content mod for Kingmaker to boost it up nearly to Wrath levels of options its: Call of the Wild.

Elven curve blade is for those that want to focus on dexterity and things like crane style to tank defensively. The problem then becomes their astronomical feat tax.
You need: Exotic proficiency, Weapon Finesse, (dex to hit chance), Slashing Grace (dex to damage bonus, harder to get) or Mythic Finesse (eats a precious mythic feat slot)
So be a fighter or gendarme with a lot of extra feats, or even when you're not: be an elf, be a Oblate (temple disciple, gets the Improved Unarmed Strike pre-req for crane stance for free)

Falchion has the same dice and crit threat range as ECB with merely martial feat, you use STR like all weapons The problem then becomes not getting hit
    >>
    >>4143259
Greataxes have good easier to get threat ranges, and decent special effects on them, greatswords are kinda similar and better threat range iirc
Mostly it's falchion, polearms (for reach and cleave builds) bastard swords (magus builds benefit from 1h and 2h sometimes depending on what they're doing at the moment)
I think there are a couple of fun big clubs/maces yeah, it wouldn't be too terrible to build for them.
I have a scythe build I'm meaning to do based on vital strike abuse from rowdy rogue and Lich path to make it a literal 1 hit reaper of death, or perhaps Demon for the teleports too.
It may have to go legend or some crit threat abuse out of a fighter build mixed in, I'm running a Vampire Hunter D build on gendarme/bloodseeker at the moment because I finally modded in the black horse properly after a few retired tries way back of bugs and build weaknesses that annoyed me too much (including ECB in fact, which I just transmog a falchion to ECB appearance now for the D look)
    >>
    >>4132913
Also str on falchion and most weapons is inherently better than dex for strictly damage arguments due to things like legendary proportions that add str damage for size, barbarian rages etc.
If you get into things like defense or even mounted combat style riding with mobility and skills like trickery dex has many other arguments in its favor though.

I kind of thought this about the Pathfinder games, but in the 40k games I feel it is insane that it isn't an option:
You should be able to upload your planned build in csv format.
