    What's your favorite FF?
    >>
    5, 7, Tactics, 10
    >>

    11. You cannot solo past level 10, same level mobs will outdps you and kill you. To continue on, you have to join or form a party. Playing FF11 formed a friend group for me that I still talk to. It was just so amazing, being engrossed in the world, talking to other adventurers, our party hiking across the world to the mission location and sneaking through dungeons, farming for each other's job artifact armor, finally becoming a decked out Dark Knight... it was great. Few other games have gripped me as much as FF11.

Runnerup would be FF14 for the 500 hour long epic visual novel story, even with it overall declines after Stormblood there were still a lot of great moments. Great art direction and character customization, 20 different classes, etc.

After that... I'd be torn between FF9 and FF13. FF9 sweeps you along for the first 2 discs and first few hours of disc 3. FF13 has amazing visuals.

    X is a fantastic game
    >>

X and Tactics (if it counts).
I like none after X and like most of them before X.
    >>
    >>4131895
    10, 7, 4, 1, 12. I think that's my top 5.

    VIII and X are tied
    >>
    >>4131980
    Same. XII is best
    >>
    7 > 8 >10

    7 is the most iconic
    8 had the best setting
10 was the last one made with soul
6 and 5 share the title of best 'classic'.

Vagrant and Tactics are notable mentions even though they aren't part of the mainline.

Anyrhing else can shove a kupo up the pupo.

Did the bots ITT actually look at the image and relate it to the implication the OP is making?

    >if you zoom in to this 188 KB JPEG collage, some of the listings are screenshots of the nominal game, while some of the listings are actually screenshots of different games
    Subtle, isn’t it?

I too can make silly observations.

People post bait images. You read the subject text and respond. You sound dumb and new and should refrain from posting.

Call me contrarian but I loved 8. Triple Triad is fun and I liked the card mod and junction systems.
    >>
    >>4132621
E33 being the actual FF15 would be better than the FF15 we got

too bad due to the shit audio mixing the only songs you could clearly hear were:
the Skyrim ripoff song during the Levithan fight
songs of older FF games when riding in the car
the remix of the main theme of FF at the ending
    the "Stand by me" cover

You're not the only one, the problem is you're gonna get a bunch of IX-fags seething. They can't handle that 8 was the better game. By shifting the focus to TT they'll be coming at you with "Tetra Master is best cuz it's unintuitive and you don't get rewards and guess wat, if you don't like it you don't have to play it outside of one instance" - the irony being nobody had to play 9 if they didn't like it which is why it sold like shite back in the day (and they skip the fact TT was entierly optional in FF8).
    >>
    >>4132899
Junction as a system is just boring square peg in square hole gameplay outside of very niche situations. Golden Sun did it better
    >>
FF6 is my favorite, but nostalgia absolutely plays a role in that. I think FF10 is the overall best entry.
    >>
    >>4131895
I played 6-7, and Tactics only (forgot which one) and they were all terrible. 6-7 particularly so, because I tried playing them 3 times each.

Final Fantasy IX is the best. Every character (Zidane, Garnet, Steiner, Freya, etc.) has their own heavy drama and excellent development. The chemistry between them is the best in the series.

Pure medieval fantasy with airships and magic. A very cozy, lively world with tons of mini-games (Tetra Master cards, Chocobo). Nobuo Uematsu's soundtrack is at its peak (the track 'You're Not Alone' is legendary). And the ending is the most emotional and perfectly wrapped up in the franchise's history.

    >And the ending is the most emotional and perfectly wrapped up in the franchise's history.
9’s ending is forgettable garbage. I literally can’t remember it.
Now 8, with Zell and the hot dogs… every time I cry
    >>
    >>4133785
    >I literally can't remember it.
Necron appeared out of nowhere and started quoting starwars. Zidane faked his death. Vivi actually died. Freya decided she was perfectly fine with being forgotten and had an ewok dance party in the woods. Steiner got the girl.

    8 > 9 = 6 > 7 = 10 > 12 > 5 = 2 > 4 = 3 = 1
8 is my favorite but only by a little bit. I really liked Leon's story where he didn't care about saving the world, he just wanted to save his friends. Also MILFs.
9 is just good overall. Characters were well written, better than the cast of 8.
6 had a really good story. When I first played it I was honestly dumbfounded when you basically lost and the world ended. And you have to pick up the pieces and try to get live normal lives again.
    7 is overrated.
10 was the first FF I finished, I played the earlier ones through my cousins and friends so I never finished them until later. I would say 10 was the reason I really got into FF. Bittersweet ending. 10-2 is meh and I only liked it because I just wanted more Yuna.
12 is a weird one for me. I liked the idea of the main character not being the hero. You're mainly experiencing the story through the eyes of a normal person. I liked it, but it just didn't land for me. Not a bad game but not a really good game either.
5 and 2 had a cool story and okay enough characters.
4, 3 and 1 were the FF where I really had to struggle to finish. I replayed them a couple of years ago and I just didn't like it. I had to use Cheat Engine just so I finish the story faster and skip the grinding.
14 isn't included since it's an MMO, but if I had to put it somewhere, it's probably between 6 and 7. It had a rough start but near the end of the first expansion I was hooked. Great music too.

Never played 11 and 13+ and I don't plan to.

Having to team up just to fight a rabbit or crab just for leveling up was kind of annoying. I regret not playing a beastmaster when I played it.
    >>
    >>4133644
These are generic FF11 characters or tactics or something?
    >>
    >>4135000
FF14 1.0 cgi render. FF11 1.0 was made by FF11 devs and was similar in a lot of ways, both in setting with the three countries but the biomes swapped and with the five races (though FF14's Galka equivalent don't reincarnate and actually have sex and reproduce).
    >>
    >>4131895
IV it's almost perfect. Not a perfect game, but a perfect fantasy jrpg. Excellent introduction to the genre although nothing groundbreaking
    >>
    >>4131895
6, 10 and 9 are the ones I always enjoy playing and remember most fondly. The rest I range between enjoy to indifferent.

    I haven't done anything past 10 though bar 13.

Super Mario RPG, Trigger, Xenogears, Dragoon and PE1 are non-FF titles by Square that I enjoy a lot too.
    >>
    >>4135880
FF4 was pretty groundbreaking when it came out

it's a proto movie game in some ways

i like it but it's not my favorite ff because there's no class customization or any depth to the gameplay at all even compared to ff1-3
    >>
    >>4135930
It was definitely a major landmark in terms of the games actually having a narrative, though I think people's feelings on that (at least in a place like here) is pretty divided in terms of how important/good that really is. Personally, I just really like job system bullshit

FF8 is the peak of the series
    >>
    >>4138929
8 is peak audio, visual and story yes, but gameplay still goes to 7.
If you port in the gf boost, active gameplay elements (r1 trigger, limit breaks, gf boost) and graphics fidelity you'd have the ultimate ff experiance.
    >>
    >>4131895
Retroperspective... all of them aged like milk. No matter if I or X. Only XII is somewhat good because it's more than just a bland story.
However the modern FFs are worse than the older ones.
    >>
    >>4142100
7 still has the best story
    >>
5 is my favorite. Most replayable, with great graphics, music, and characters.
I can understand anyone who lists a game from the golden age (3-X) though.
Honorable mentions from other games other than my overall favorite, though:
    7 - soundtrack
    X - story
    >>
Almost all of them are just grinding + autoattack simulators, incredible what passes for good gameplay in JRPGs
    >>
3 is my favorite FF, probably the most annoying when it comes to lacking agency for jobs, though. i'm playing through 6 for the first time, and it's been fantastic so far. i love that you essentially lose and have to pick up the pieces.

5 is probably 3rd on the favorite rankings so far.
