It's 90% gameplay and 10% plot, but the plot is still like 30 hours long. It's worth it if you like the gameplay and build autism, I guess. It isn't an RPG though.

There's one extremely short section of optional Kirito content, otherwise he's an irrelevant side character that just rounds people up for meetings.

It's reasonably fun, and the story interruptions aren't quite as frequent once you get through the beginning. The plot does mostly suck, though.

Been trying out the sword and gun stance, and it's alright, bit seems like sword is doing the heavy lifting. Got any OP builds to recommend? Still haven't unlocked dual wield pistols, might try that olwhej ai get them, also is sniper rifle worth it. I just wanna be able to move fast and kill things fast.

Before you do anything else in the game, go unlock all the AOE buff bubbles and throughout the game spam them constantly even when you're not fighting things. Buff skills level up by using them and you'll save a lot of time grinding later by getting these nearly mandatory ones out of the way now.

Both sword weapon types (sword and gun + sword) are actually by far the worst ones in the game, but everything is effective until the Lvl 300 Extreme DLC bosses and Swords don't use up much weight so they're handy for a few builds that use heavy guns like Sniper or Minigun ones. Any kind of just pistols are strong even if they fall off a bit against bosses and automatic pistols are outperformed by SMGs, Machine Guns and Miniguns. Sniper Rifles are amazing and my favourite builds personally, especially the Anti Material Rifles.

The most OP build iirc is the Minigun + all the Buff bubbles approach, in fact that's the only way to overcome the hardest boss on Extreme without wanting to throw your controller through the screen. However I don't recommend it until you're grinding drops because it's extremely boring.

I really enjoyed this game and remember it fondly all these years later. Wholly unexpected from a SAO game back then. Also surprisingly nice soundtrack, I've had this track stuck in my mind for 8 years.
