What is an Organic RPG? Crusader Kings, Star Wars Outlaws, Stellaris and to the nemesis system, the Shadow of Mordor series.

— A non-RPG game that forces the player into roleplaying their character, i.e: make decisions and arrangements that are reacted by in-Universe consequences and characters.

Example:

In Star Wars Outlaws (2025), which is not an RPG, you are hired to investigate and bust a scheme of rigged farther jockey races by the Hutt syndicate. Through investigation, you discover that the Pykes have a mole in the jockey races and they tip off a random citizen that then earns the money betting and gives them their share. By the end of this questline, you are offered a chance to expose the scheme to the Hutts or take part in it, as offered by the Pykes.

If you stay true to your word and give the data to the Hutt clients, the Pyke syndicate is severely antagonized, and Pyke occupied areas become hostile to you, most of their vendors won't want to sell to you, they won't help you during space travel or quests, etc. But you are allowed to make ammends with the Pykes, by searching an in-game intermediary who is still willing to talk to you, and who allows you to hand over to the Pykes data about imperial activity and rival syndicates. You are also given opportunities to betray other syndicates to benefit the pykes, and so on.

This makes the player actually roleplay as a scoundrel juggling the various interests and people of the galaxy, and is effectively an RPG system creating an organic story.

There is no script. There is barely any dialogue choice. It is just you becoming your character to obtain in-Universe advantages, and living unscripted adventure stories.

What are some cool organic RPGs I can play?

I'm not going to help you because you consume disney wars slop.

You are rejecting a very interesting game because Disney owns the license? How does that work? The game is between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, it doesn't even have the Disney material in it.

You also reject Kingdom Hearts because there is Disney in it?

NTA. Yes.

You reject games dogmatically, and think there is anything based in talking down to a game you never played due to out of game reasons.

This hobby would be better without SJWs, culture warriors and hipsters.

Star Wars is not Marvel. Star Wars games were always good, or at least tried to be.

Your idea of engaging with this hobby is watching grown men criticize children's toys and movies and give them free engagement and advertisement.

If I find something refined in a game, I'll point at it.

I have politics fatigue.

Did you play a different game?

Someone with sufficiently high IQ will be able to play any genre and make it an RPG
Someone with sufficiently low IQ will be able to play any game RPG and make it not an RPG

There is some organic roleplay in Stellaris.

Per example, an immortal sentient AI agent is more fitting to rule in order to maximize military production than somebody else. When my little space republic was threatened, I am compelled to try to change the political system to have this AI be the eternal ruler of my faction only because I failed as a player and now the enemy empires are encroaching.

As a result, of course, of having this non-human ruler, there are various concerns and political imbalances and factions rising up, as well as modifiers that go negative.

These are all game mechanics and modifiers going on, but there is still here the story of a failed society being pressured militarily into abandoning its principles only so it can still stand against the enemy.

Not really. If you choose a different item to start a level in Super Mario, you don't see the game acknowledging it. It is entirely on you what is happening.

The best example is like, compare the GTA star system for pursuits and the notoriety system of Assassin's Creed.

In GTA, if you escape, the stars go down and nobody remembers the genocide you did. In Assassin's Creed it is similar, but you need to work removing posters and bribing officials to remove your notoriety. Assassin's Creed has some organic roleplaying, even if it is very little.

Dishonored 1 is also a good example of this organic roleplaying, since the type of assassin you want to be (lethal x non-lethal) changes how the enemies prepare themselves to face you and how alarmed they are. Batman Arkham series, per example, does not have such system.

Please don't mention IQ here. IQ and haplogroups is the reason why I don't go to /sci/ or /his/ anymore. It is horoscope for undersocialized losers who want to feel unearned superiority.

High IQ people in my book are people who learn fast and get their things done, whether is a piece of art or just putting together furniture.

This post almost got me interested in buying it, but then I looked on Steam and it has Denuvo. Hard pass.

You can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality.

In Age of Decadence combat is difficult, and if you haven't invested in combat skills you don't stand a chance. This makes playing as a fighter actually interesting because you can kill enemies who are impossible to kill in non-violent playthroughs.

IQ is a source of unearned pride.

It is funny how the most obsessed with IQ tend to often be losers. Haplogroups are even worse, basic 21th century phrenology.

A low IQ person who gets things done is far more useful than a genius who spends all day talking about IQ.

I brought up IQ in the context of an individual’s ability to roleplay, i.e. adequate theory of mind and imagination
You’ve repeatedly attempted to derail the conversation to be about race
I can only surmise from your posts that you are a seething retard with a group mean IQ of 1-2 sigma below 100.

IQ has been deboonked, anon. Watch that one Vaush video and stop being a bigot already. It's 2026.

>ZOOMER HERE!
>ORGANIC RPG IS LE CHOICES AND CONSEQUENCES! JUST WITH LESS DIALOGUE!
This is how faggotized you sound. You also have the gall to present your Bethesda-coded normgroid take as a revolutionary opinion. Stick to products meant for modern audiences, like “Star Wars: Outlaws” (lmao), and never touch an actual cRPG like Baldur’s Gate.

what the fuck is this thread
you should start by posting an organic

If you aren't allergic to AI, Skyrim with the Skyrimnet mod. It is janky, but it will fit the bill. You will have to suspend disbelief and use your imagination sometimes.
I've found it fun, but have been so far unable to get the characters to not speak in ChatGPTese. NPCs will tend to reply to you with "X or Y" questions and won't voluntarily end conversations. It's really annoying.

I'm enjoying the FUCK out of Crusader Kings 3 right now.

OP is not wrong. Most tabletop DnD these days is 5000-page backstories with either stat munching or theater of the mind crap.

If you make them engage with things like exploration and survival mechanics (so they have to bring out ranger) a la Tolkien they'll shit themselves

Shitdom hearts cringe is from final fantasy but kek at giving a shit about final fantasy not counting the spinoff.

Lol. Kek-lmao even. Baldur's gate was the original goyslop rpg. Even better it's bioshit because they made keks of the old republic who's only positive is being better than the sequel.

There is a lot more roleplaying in actually engaging with the mechanics than just 'tell don't show' I'm a Ranger / Fighter / Wizard.

You hit it in the head.

For me, the ranger is the person actually engaging with the food / travel / exhaustion / map mechanics and finding the way to go, even if it is boring and number crunching.

It reminds me of Space Station 13, where roleplaying comes as a natural consequence of you trying to do your role.

Even this non-RPG hits better what makes an RPG than most.
