I sided with Maelle. The people of the painted world are obviously alive, and it seems very selfish to destroy an entire world just for the benefit of Maelle and Verso.

Rant that is me sympathizing with the story warning, ignore it if you don't care you won't get any more info about E33's ending from mebut I just realized that I am Aline and it made me cry, in 2020 I suffered a severe medical situation that has left me mentally scarred with PTSD, too scared to leave the housemy wife spent all those years trying to force me out of my self imposed PTSD prison, i hated her for atleast 2 years of her doing that and this game made me realize she was the Renoire to my Aline and I hated her for loving meRenoire telling Alicia to reach for the stars reasonated with me so much, I am so scared to reach for the stars because much like Alicia I was burnt onceof course I can't beat PTSD from just playing a video game, it's not that easybut this has given me such insane motivation to get out, seeing my own problems be expressed in such an artistic form has helped me connect the dots finallythe "safety" my house offers is the same comfort the painting offers Aline and Alicia, but it's killing me slowly to be stuck in my own prison forever to feel "safe"I won't let PTSD win, I am going to get better for her

Maelle did nothing wrong. I imagine that if I was forced to live forever I would be sad too but painted Verso needs to take a chill pill. If he dies then everyone dies. The family are basically all gods and the painting is like earth.
I know you guys are talking about story, but I really think this is the sort of game that radically plays different from player to player. I figured out a strategy to spam Lune's Elemental Genesis every turn, so it just got to the point where I could constantly nuke everything to death. Also, I basically disregarded Parrying; I stuck with doing Dodges because the timing is much more generous. As a result, I blew through most fights on a single attempt. Ever since beating the game, I've watched other people play and nobody seems to realize how broken Lune is and they spend 10+ attempts on every boss trying to learn how to Parry all of their attacks. I really find it astonishing people can play this game so differently than each other.
